  1. A lot of us take that route. I've actually never taken the 15 to Baker way. It is faster going the "back" way through tecopa. I don't know by how much, (probably 20-30 min) see above. It's fine for your fifth wheel. There is a small section of half blind switchbacks while climbing, just go very slow and use a bit of the other lane with some caution. My 5'ver is 43ft and it makes it fine. To me it's a more enjoyable drive.
  2. Nice write up Pete. It's cool to see how these awesome things came about.
  3. 165" is damn long. They designed it well though imho. 29k MSRP for the top dog though, ouch.
  4. Ugh, this will be the first year SINCE 2010 we haven't gone. Move out weekend unfortunately. As usual, if I can't be in the sand, I'll be living vicariously through you guys. Post up those pics and live dune reports!
  5. I was told by a woman passing out flyers for the clean up over MLK that they will be providing lunch. not sure how true that is though..
  6. Way up Lake Mead almost to lake Las Vegas, KB Home is building a new spot on the right with large lots. Got in early and snagged one of the biggest. We looked for and wanted something in the horizon/horizon area but couldn't find anything that had everything we wanted. What's nice is they're going to plumb sewage along with separate 50 amp service to the RV pad. Never thought I'd be so amped to be able to dump a bunch of people's sh*t next to my house lol. I had them rotate the house on the lot to give me a 16' gate. Yeah Pete we'll have to get together for a "it's about time I moved to hendo" beer.
  7. That sh*t right there ^ is funny. I'm moving to Henderson with RV parking!!!!! Selling and buying a house at the exact same time is a wee bit time consuming and stressful lol. Can't wait to have the hauler at the house. No more storage for this guy.
  8. Sick!! That thing looks like so much fun. Hmm..I want one. Lol
  9. Haha, you're exactly right. Unloading in the rain wasn't all that fun, but the weather the rest of the weekend was great. We tore those dunes up and had a blast doing it. Enjoying the last night.
  10. We'll be there with some friends from Utah. Hoping for a nice chill weekend..duning, relaxing, and celebrating my daughter's 5th birthday. She said " I want to have my birthday in the sand dunes!!"
  11. I didn't want to be first, but was he said ^
  12. I have to ride with my sunglasses because of the prescription, the bonus to that is they are polarized. They cut the glare off the sand on sunny days. They're amazing under cloud cover as well, because unlike "cheap" grey lenses (these are grey, just not cheap) they don't just darken everything in front of you. The terrain stays bright and clear. Even if I didn't need the prescription I could never go back to any type of lense that isn't polarized. I'd look into it for goggles.
  13. 467 = vehicle stop, says the wife. 467 = vehicle stop, says the LVMPD wife. badass video!!!
  14. So last year my wife and sister planned this amazing, exciting Disneyland trip together for the families and kids...planned it for Dec 10th weekend 2016. At that very moment I knew...my hopes of a 2016 buggy round up was bleak, as this amazing get together of awesome people and fast rides always falls at this time. (is that bad that that's the first thing I think of?) You guys all have a blast and be safe. Can't wait for the pics, stories, and for buggy round up 2017.
  15. sorry no picture, the sand storm is to bad! We went from gearing up for a sunset ride to running around camp with goggles on securing everything in 2 minutes. Ok, Re heat Thanksgiving dinner, beer, games, everyone in the trailer, good to go. Everyone be safe.
  16. punctured a small hole right behind a paddle on my skats this weekend, plugged it and it held fine the rest of the weekend. Not sure if I'm comfortable trusting my plug the rest of the season and really don't want to fork out the $ for and new tire at the moment. Can any one recommend a shop in Vegas that won't bend my spun aluminum rim taking the tire off and that can put a more professional patch/plug on it or even vulcanize my tire?
  17. Did you have to pay AZ sales tax then make up the difference here when you register it? Or did they let you get out of there without paying any tax presuming you will pay it here when you register it? Should have pm'd you that, you can pm back if you prefer.
  18. The smell of race gas and fried turkeys in the air, can't wait. We'll be there.
  19. we'll be there, low key trip for us. Where are you guys going to camp? We'll come by for a ride. Thurs night to Sunday as well.
  20. Thank you for posting this update. I have a little girl and this hit home real hard. I was given some bad info earlier today about her and I've been praying all day he was wrong. So happy to hear he was. Wishing her a speedy recovery.
  21. They are not. DOT approved only. With that said, you're right. Most helmets if not all of of the legit ones are to heavy for babies necks. I found a very light bicycle type helmet but it looked like a motocross helmet my daughter wore. Looked legit and worked. Rangers never looked twice, and she was safe.
  22. weather seems to be changing every 5 minutes. As of right now though, it's looking a little warm! That's why these things come with AC right?
