The case can be made that you would not go to Dumont to meet with your friends unless they were there to use the OHV area and camping area. However I am certainly not an Attorney and I do believe that we as users should be able to have non-users come out and visit for the day or weekend. The plan is that if you buy a season pass you will be able to get an "extra" vehicle pass so the wife or friends can join you without paying for another pass. That vehicle MUST come in without any OHV attached or in the bed etc. We are working on this for next year but have to go through DAC and RRAC to get it approved. See the goverment bureauacy works at a completely different pace and time then normal business where decisions are made and implemented daily. Just does not happen in goverment offices. So consider your head slapped:)1 point

None of us like paying fees on top of the high taxes already paid but as it's already been said disrespecting the LEO's is not the way to go about voicing your displeasure. They didn't write the laws they only enforce them and as a person in law enforcement I would think that you should know that. Just because a few bad apples in the BLM and other areas of law enforcement have tainted the rep of all the good ones doesn't mean they're all bad. Similarly, just as someone who disrespects our riding areas and trashes and tears everything up doesn't mean we're all bad but we all get dumped into the same idiot offroader barrel. Think about it and we'll all be better off with better actions and words...and no, I'm not a LEO. Rather, the guys in the linked story below have gone about it the right way and maybe by doing so we'll all be helped and better off in the long run. http://www.dailybull...ews/ci_199743291 point

I have always been vocal about my disagreement with having to pay fees to use land that I already pay taxes on to use. The difference is instead of bitching about it online in a harsh manner, I let my elected officials get an earful and attempt to be respectful in my viewpoints. You will find most agree with you on the merits. I think you cross a line on the LEO’s. I happen to know a few of them, both San Berdo Sheriff and BLM Rangers and can tell you that they have a job to do that isn’t easy. Consider the dunes grow to the size of a small city and a handful of cops who work in excess of 12 hour shifts are needed to handle domestic cases, thefts, DRUNKS, and accidents. If you get stopped by one of them, perhaps you should consider what drew their attention to you in the first place and be compliant. Respect in your interaction with them will go a long way between a warning and a citation. I love how many guys I have seen get fired up about being questioned on an issue holding a beer in their hands with empties sitting on the seats. I have a picture of a guy shooting comp hill with a beer in his hand. Of the three times a cop came into my camp in all the years I have been going to Dumont, first time was legit (we had fireworks, gave us a warning), second, he had a question and we helped him, and the third, they were invited for photos. Not buying a pass is your call. You make the risk assessment on your choices. Don’t b*tch if you get caught, it IS your fault.1 point

Took my 1st trip ever to Dumont and it was great. Besides the fact that i bought sand paddles before halloween to go to dumont for that weekend but never ended up going. Went to put my sand paddles on for presidents day weekend an they did not fit!! wow brand new paddles, 5months old, never used, an they dont fit. Called the dealership that i bought my quad from an that sold me the paddles. Of course they didnt have my size anywhere in town ugh, but they did agree to get me the right size an swap them out. So i was stuck using my knobbies, yuck! Friday - was nice about 70, got in real early about 10am an the crowd wasnt too big then. Set up camp right next to the drags ate some lunch an went for a ride. Went over to banshee an comp hill an rode them a few times the crowd was small then. Also saw like a 4seater side x side roll over on a small dune nothing major. Took a ride to the vendor row to look around an ate a snack. Later around dusk a guy in a rail broke both front A-arms some how. Went back to camp made my fire, an cooked dinner over the campfire. Then headed over to comp hill for the night to see how things were there. I meet some new people, sat by the fires, an talked for a while. Then tragedy struck an the hill was shutdown, RIP so sad . I called it a night an went back to camp. Saturday - was a better day accident wise. Woke up an watched the hill climb competition for a while. Took a ride came back an watched some more hill climb. Ate lunch then tagged on the end of some people headed for the north pole. Had a nice ride with them an rode back to comp an banshee hill, took a few runs up both, couldnt do much racing with knobbies but made it to the top of comp no prob. Saw a sandrails engine catch fire, people flagged him down an he put it out quick. Rode till about dusk an headed back for camp. Made the fire again an ate some dinner. The big group camped next to me invited me over so i talked for a bit. THX to Snowball an his big crew! I wanted to go back to comp an mingle cuz friday night was cut short. Geared up an rode to comp around 8-9pm. Crowd there tonight was huge to me. parked at a few fires met some new ppl. I took 1 run up comp that night and thats all, mostly watched all the other crazy people go blasting up. Took a short night ride with a few people. Then back to comp, then to camp around 1am. Threw a few pieces of wood on the fire, warmed up an went to sleep. Good day! Sunday - woke up right in front of the lil drag strip they had set up, didnt have to move at all. Today i did the least riding I wanted to watch alot of the drags. They started off slow to me technical problems with the lighting tree an such. I ate breakfast an took a morning ride. Came back to watch the rest of the drags an eat lunch. Went to vendor row an bought some items Then set out to do a last long ride. I Went to banshee hill first, took some runs an went back an forth between comp an banshee for a while. Took a last ride to north pole where i saw Snowball an his crew of about 30. Talked for a bit an then went on a ride with them to the south pole. It was the best ride of the weekend there, from north pole to the south pole riding the dunes pretty much the whole way. From there a few of them went to comp so i followed an ran it a few times then went to banshee rode it a few times an pretty much called it a weekend. Sun was setting soon so i better pack up was about 4pm then. I got packed up an left Dumont about 5:30pm that day an headed back to Vegas. THX to all who were so kind this weekend. It was awsome!1 point

So what the hell does it matter what you pay in taxes and what does that have to do with your feelings toward Law Enforcement officer? That you should show such disrespect for a uniformed Law Enforcement Officer is downright wrong.. You may not like nor think that LEO's that are BLM rangers are deserving of any respect but to me it is a respect owed the uniform and badge. You don't buy a pass but I guarantee that you would be the first b*tch whining if you or your family member got injured severly enough for life saving assistance that "the BLM" wasn't on scene fast enough or quick enough to suit you. Well pal the LEO's deserve their pay and if you don't pay the fee's to use the area you will have no one to blame but yourself and the other folks who think the "Goverment " owes you something. There is no something for nothing in this world. I would respectfully suggest that you get over yourself and show some respect to the other people who do pay the fee's and play by the rules.1 point
