  1. Here's the thing, It's completely understandable for you to be upset, I'm sure that was a very traumatic accident and I'm very sorry for your loss. But, what gets posted online about the accident should be the last thing for you to get pissed off about. You clearly don't know Pete (Dunefreak), he would never start or try to spread rumors, especially about the death of anyone. So don't get your panties all in a bunch because of some mis-information. What you can do instead of bitching and complaining, is set the record straight, or at least just say: "I was there, that's not what happened.", and leave it at that. I do have a serious question, and I do not mean for this question to be controversial or disrespectful in any way, and do not feel inclined to answer, but I ask: If this was in a SxS, were helmet's being worn?

  2. and to add, let us all know what happened maybe not in detail but issues that came up that possibly can be avoided so that word can get around to help prevent incidents like the one that happened....educate us. losing a friend is hard, I've lost a few myself....but I've put it out there things that happened that could be avoided to help prevent repeat occurrences. no one in this thread came on here and wanted to put out bad information, they were only putting out what was said. every incident that has happened out at Dumont that involved a death has been posted in here to help educate others, the stories are not put on here with any intent other than to help.

  3. Damn son, unwind a little bit, take a deep breath, start back at the top and READ what was posted. No rumors, just what was passed on by another friend of the victims. How about instead of jumping into full jackasselope mode on your very first post on a forum you just offer your take on what happened with the accident? You know, maybe help others in the future not make the same mistake/mistakes that were made? And shed some light on the entire situation since you were a passenger in said RZR. I've been to Dumont dozens of times over the years but will be making my first trip in a RZR this weekend. The info you could have provided might have been useful to may others as the SXS market is growing by the day. And your buddy WickedYJ there may want to take the same advice. DDR is one of the tightest knit communities on the web and we will go way above and beyond to help and protect one another. Definitely wouldn't intentionaly be passing bum scoop on a fellow duners demise. So what really happened so that others may be informed? In your calmest and kindest tone please. RIP fellow duner, and prayers to the family and friends.

  4. It was a fun day for me on Sunday. Woke up at 11:30pm Saturday, hit the road at midnight. Rolled into camp at 5:30am. No one was up so I just relaxed in my truck for a while. Newly got up and we talked for a few then decided it was time for everyone to get up so I unloaded my car and Newly fired his up. Other people slowly arrived, I met a few new people which is always a good thing. Did 3 good rides then the heat was getting too much and I was loaded back on the road at 2pm. Got home just before 8pm. and passed out in bed. 11 hours of driving my truck to and from Dumont and a few hours in the sand. Totally worth the effort to do it. I had electronic power steering installed on the car and all I can say is HELL YES. What a difference that made, no more feedback through the steering wheel on bumps and super easy to turn while duning. My only regret is not having my go-pro on when YNOT did his Randog impression on a wheelie. He had his car damn near straight up and down on a side hill. I though he was going to roll that thing but he managed to pull it off and didn't miss a beat and kept on leading the ride. My next Dumont trip might not be till Presidents. So some of you better step up and make it down to Glamis. If I can do Dumont for a day, You can do Glamis for a weekend.

  7. I think anything is safe as long as the person in control rides to their ability and not beyond. SXS are for sure safe. 4 wheelers are safe too. Bikes are sketchy but most guys who ride bikes in the dunes know how to ride. If its dark and you cant see go back to camp. If you cant keep up with the group stay in the back and cut lines and take it easy. If you been drinking sit one ride out. Use common sense. You need to know how to react in certain situations and the only way to learn is to ride the dunes over and over and over and as you do that you will get faster and learn your rig. Most accidents I have seen were from people going to fast.

  9. The only one getting defensive is Jmock. Were all fine here, nobody is upset. Takes a little more then one upset guy to get anyone here riled up. We are all sorry for the loss as we have said several times. I know you guys understand stories change and get twisted as the story goes from mouth to mouth. Pete just posted what he heard and he also stated he wasn't sure if it was accurate. Would be nice to hear the truth from somebody when you guys are ready so the story doesn't get twisted anymore. Coming over here and barking at us is not the right thing to do, we have all lost friends as well, we are a tight group over here on this site and we all have Petes back. You guys aren't the only ones to lose somebody close to you or right in front of you. Be humble and happy your all alive.

  13. Wow really? I even offered my condolences to the friends and family of Justin in my first post about the accident. Maybe you missed that as well as the part where I posted "Not sure how accurate the info is, but this is what a friend of his sent us." I was just relaying information that was given to me by a friend of his. I can't see how you would think how I meant any form of disrespect. Glad you are ok and I am very sorry for your friend.
