  2. Smoking is fun and addictive! Buy yourself a good thermometer so you can keep track of meat temp and smoker temp from anywhere. Very useful when smoking a pork butt overnight for example. You can monitor from bed. Maverick is a good brand but there are others. Cherry is great for pork, I mix it with something other than fruit wood, like mesquite. Twin packs of pork shoulder from Costco can feed an army for less than $30, and super easy. I've moved onto the electric pellet smokers, the set it and forget it style is pretty nice. Try reverse searing your next trip tip. I like mine med rare so I'll smoke it to about 100 to 105, and throw it on a 600+ degree grill to sear it until finished. Just experiment and have fun!

  3. And good luck getting that permit. They really don't want a big dense crowd. For the record, this is my opinion, not based on any facts. I don't think they want any events that might draw a large dense crowd to gather. Things like fights and other rowdy stuff happens and the LEO's would be severely outnumbered. Not what they like. But, you say, what about the crowds at comp hill on holiday weekends? Those are a bunch of small, mostly unconnected little groups. A few LEO vehicles show up and they aren't overwhelmed by half a dozen people hanging out. I don't think we'll ever see those Chippendale wannabe's or a band where large amounts of people gather into a big F'ing crowd! That's my theory anyway.

  4. I learned the hard way with stock China bombs and Carlisle's as well. My current TH is the only one I've bought new. I changed the tires the day after I bought it. Wasn't going to risk it. I run Sailun S637 all steel 14 ply G rated tires. I know trying to save $ on tires is usually a regrettable decision. But they actually have a huge following and great reviews. Had them on my 43' TH for 2 years now and they look brand new. Besides the one I had to plug. Lol. Damn nails in a new housing construction. Next time you're in the market, look them up. They used to be labeled LT, with the higher speed rating. Due to something to do with importing them, they had to re label them for trailer use only. Same tire though, so you still get the G rating with the higher speed rating of an LT.

  5. It's all about crowd control. The leos take control before it gets out of hand whenever large crowds gather like this. In this case, it was more about them not having a permit for a performance on BLM land.

  6. UPDATE: Good news and bad. Construction has begun, but the tower will not be functioning until April/ March 2019. 😣 A gate was installed at the south end, up in the hills along the fence line just west of the Memorial Hill. A dozer was also delivered and an access road was made to where the tower will be built. These photos are from the project manager. He apparently likes selfies.

  7. We had alot of fun this Halloween! The turnout was huge as it has been the last couple years. We tried a new camp spot this year and loved it. There were still a ton of trick-or-treaters that came through with some awesome costumes. Never made it over to the trunk or treat because we were too busy in camp having fun. Glad to see @mineurbiz and the Romo Motorsports crew in the wacky inflatable arm flailing tube man costumes. 😆 Every year they go all out! I've never seen so many damn side x sides in my entire life. Dumont sure has changed since I started going out. I miss seeing all the different buggies and homemade stuff you used to see out there. There used to be really fast stuff at the hill and chicks dancing around. Now we have dudes dancing and pretty lame races, if any at all. LOL The one thing I noticed and really liked this year was good dune etiquette! Everyone seemed to be very smart in the dunes and watch out for each other. As many lines of other duners we came across, most everyone looked like they were alert and smart about avoiding close calls. Weather was WARM during the day, but we hunkered down in the AC and had a really good time in camp. We found out @Dent boy's new baller motorhome holds like 20 people. hahaa We burned through all our race gas and beer in the 4 days we were there. It was a great weekend! Pics...
