I would say that he lucked out. It is law. My friend was the opposite. He had a truck and trailer, single vehicle accident. NHP weighed, measured and investigated everything. He was legal but received a fat bill for spill clean up.

DO NOT go by what the dealer tells you!!!!! When it comes to liability it is all on you.....Hypethetically.......If you are over loaded/over weight and you get in an accident which seriously hurts or kills someone that will come back to you. Do u think WW would say "Well he was ok because it was for private use" Come on! This happened a couple of years ago to a family, I can't remember if it was here or so-cal. The man lost everything. His home, savings and his wife left him. If I remember I think he even did jail time. I remember reading about it on GD.com or an rv forum. Maybe Cheese can help me out.
