  1. Pheeeewwww, the pictures that came to mind!!!
  2. Hmmmmm, not sure whether or not to ask you to elaborate on that one!
  3. I don't think any judge can hand down a harsher sentence than knowing you could have prevented your own child's death. I just can't imagine living with that.
  4. Hey, I resemble that comment!! :dunce: I'm a long-time Denver don...errrr, Bronco fan!! (I know, I know, not goin' to playoffs dammit) We'll see how far those Chargers get...
  5. I wondered when you were going to catch that one! :fro: Back to the topic....Love having the long bed for our 5th wheel, still allows room to throw in firewood, the paddles, gas cans, etc. Being a duelly, it can be a b*tch to park, tho!
  6. We were just passed and left of b-4, just a hop skip and a jump from camp poopd*ck. Just our rig in the middle of nobody, LOL, our regular group didn't come out so we camped in a different spot. Did everything bass-ackwards this trip, camped east side, not west side, started at S. pole and went north, etc. Had a great weekend despite the blow up.....Join me in a moment of silence for the passing of Davey's banshee........ OK, that's 'nuff.
  7. Turned out to be a GREAT trip for us...first time at Dumont for New Year's. Arrived Thurs. late afternoon, pretty windy still but not too bad. Hung out at camp, movie night. (Forgot the popcorn, dammit!) Got lots of riding in on Friday, even let the kids take their quads to comp that night, traffic wasn't bad at all!! Saturday was awesome! Sunny and warm, couldn't have been better! Made it to the S. Pole to meet up with the DDR peeps....nice to finally meet desertskyz in person...and see some familiar faces from the Xmas party. Bunches of riders; buggies, quads, Rhinos, 2 wheelers, had them all!! Me and the kiddos made it to the N. pole from there, sat and watched as folks started rollin' in, but Davey did not. Waited...and waited...but still NO Davey! Finally got the call, "Where you at?!" "We're here, where are you?!" He was stranded somewhere behind the little hills west of the N. pole. Banshee blow'd up on the way out! He was left behind. A complete stranger on a black Honda found me at the pole and took Chase and Jon to go to the rescue!! You guys ROCK!! No hesitation, just hopped on your quads and took off! Can't thank you enough for helpin' out...Chase, you da man!! Needless to say, our DDR ride ended there. I took the kiddos back to camp. Thank goodness my oldest, Justin, had come out Sat. morning with his buddy to join us. He drove his truck out to get Davey and his busted quad. Still partied out at comp Sat. night...loaded up the trucks and drove out. The rangers were thick out there! Watched a CHP unit pull over some dude in a p-up (he hadn't turned on his headlights, duh! BIG clue, I'm drunk!) They hauled his a$$ off in handcuffs. Some close calls on the hill that night, a buggy flipped, but no ambulance rides that I know of. Some observations: 1. LOTS of people head to the dunes for New Years 2. DDR peeps ride REALLY REALLY fast! 3. Coals under your chair is the BOMB! 4. Long johns are a must for night riding 5. Never again forget the popcorn 6. Smoking anywhere near a campfire is redundant 7. Oven mits can and WILL catch fire 8. My little ol' flare light will light the way home, even in thick dust 9. My new flagpole/flags ROCK 10. Rhinoking knows my Justin from way back when! COOL (small world) Thanks again to Chase and Jon...they went above and beyond to help a guy out!
  8. Saw A LOT of that out at Dumont this past weekend! Quite a few quads riding double with adults, too. Thought that was illegal out there, but was more important for Ranger Bob to pull over the p-up truck with no whip. Who da thunk it.
  9. Aaahhhh, bummers!! No way to spend a holiday weekend.
  10. Breaks my heart to hear stories like that!!!! Can't imagine the pain the parents must be going thru. :praying: As a parent, I would never forgive myself! Our family always rides with helmets, even in places like Logandale (no rangers) and Utah where there is no helmet law. Whatta shame.
  11. That brings new meaning to the phrase B.Y.O.B. Bring your own BED
  12. NO kidding!! It was just a few hours after I posted that I heard the news. WOW!
  13. OVEN CLEANER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. That doesn't sound too bad, it's the gusty winds that are the pits! Rock the trailer, rock the trailer. By the looks of it, tomorrow's gonna be windy, but Friday and Saturday are supposed to be sunny 60's daytime, high 30's nighttime, calm winds. Keepin' the fingers crossed.
  15. We will be there-Davey has the 'glow' tape for the S. pole if y'all want to add some to it!
  16. Shame on me, in that last one. Peter Boyle, now James Brown. Whatta shame! It seems to happen in 3's. I wonder who's passing we'll hear in the news next.
  17. Was that yet ANOTHER video of Chase!?!?
  18. I agree 100%!!!! Hey Eddie, you may not be so crazy after all!! Sweeeet post. My BEST gift was seeing my kids' faces light up Christmas morning. It's all about them.
  19. Hmmm, well since it was my hubby that picked up the kids' quads (bought them in Parker, AZ), they had him take their little ol' safety course, which was a joke anyway. All he had to do was to drive down the street, or parking lot, turn around, and prove that he could stop the darn thing. No certificate issued. HOWEVER, the new quads did come with a video tape and we did sit the kids down and watched it together. We took them out to Apex for a practice run before going out to Dumont. In answer to your question, Polaris does offer a safety course, but couldn't tell ya if it's free or not. I hope the dealerships here in town would let anyone take a course no matter what they're riding. Your best bet would be to make some phone calls.
  20. My hauler is home, my hauler is home!!! Just got 'er back this a.m. Looks like we will be goin' out this weekend after all! Planning to head out on Thursday, will come home Sunday, BUT none of our usual group is going out this trip. Have always camped out on the bluff, don't like gettin' the rig too close to the soft stuff. Anyone else planning on camping in that general area? We are really cool neighbors (hint hint)!
  21. Yup, I scored a shirt for me and Davey both. Couldn't wear mine yet 'cause that would have been a dead giveaway!!
