  1. That whole route is being worked on right now with a lot of it completely closed. It needs repair bad. From National Trails to the 15 needs to be dug up and redone. Kelso to Cima, Ivanpah, Nipton, all of those have been beat up for quite a few years now but Kelso to Baker will tear up a car.

Not that I agree with the whole Sand to Snow Monument issue and all of the reductions/restrictions that come with it I have noticed that they are pumping a lot of dollars into making the routes to and through those places much better.

  2. WOW is all I can say! It's been well over two years (three seasons) since I was last at Dumont and the improvement in the access road is beyond description. Used to empty the cabinets and bounce the toys around even driving it very slow. Now driving the posted 25mph is a pleasure and very smooth. Dust is still hella bad but short of spraying the road down with used motor oil it's always gonna be bad. Oh wait, we don't spray the roads down anymore. Showing my age!

Definitely rates an A. I'm curious as to when it was groomed last? I didn't see the equipment in the pictures at the dunes anywhere.

Now if they can just fix Kelbaker Road. It was a strong F-. Huge holes everywhere and quite the hazard to drive. Ranger at Kelso today said the repairs are from Kelso to Baker but that doesn't address the same road conditions from Kelso to National Trails Hiway. Surely with all of this land grabbing that Feinstein and her ilk have been doing they would want the roads pristine so that all of their butterfly hugging BMW driving voting pool don't damage their cars.

Rant off, outstanding job on the access road. Best I have seen it since 2003.

  3. Well I guess it goes without saying that with the lack of interest in this event that there won't be any vendors out there this weekend...

I remember back in the day when this was a fairly large event with lots of support and participation. Should be rolling in around noon tomorrow.

  4. Well it's been two years since I've been to Dumont due to a health condition that arose and I believe I'm recovered enough to give it another go. Thinking this might be the perfect weekend to try Dumont back on for size. Won't be slinging the mighty DS730 around anymore as I lost use of my right arm, had to go to one of them there RZR thing-a-ma-jiggys with a steering wheel. I know I can't hang on one of the awesome ElPresidente led rides but if anybodyis going to be out there doing some gentleman cruises through the dunes I would be interested in joining in.

Another determining factor in not heading to Dumont was the condition of Kelbaker Road between Kelso and Baker. It was so effed up that it made the drive unbearable. I hear they were going to repair/replace that stretch and was just wondering if anybody on here has been that route recently? Would really like to attend this event but don't want to beat me or the equipment to death.

Appreciate any input and look forward to seeing you guys back out there again.

    Edit, found this info: http://www.nps.gov/moja/current-conditions.htm

  5. I just want to know what the gooey zhiatt is inside of the tubes so that I can fill mine back up and then repair the tube where it snapped in half near the base! That crap got all over everything and was damn near impossible to remove without a pressure washer. Six foot whip so lots of liquid was involved.

I am interested in what the pictured bracket is for though...

    Subbed.

  6. WOW! That was sure the good old days Alien. Don't know if you remember or not but that is my son Casey piloting The Beast for you that day. He also piloted BigRay800's DS800 in it's class too. Them Sasselli boys were unstoppable in their classes, but the times had by all were good and the turnout was much better than they have generated recently. Everybody moving on to the SXS market it seems.

Brought back some good memories for sure.

That one wheel launch at the end is just insane. Lots of power The Beast laid to the ground!

  7. Sad news for us as fans for sure. Dude was very dominant at what he did. Smart that he is choosing not to tempt fate with his spine. I lost use of my right arm from some compression at C-4, his injury is much lower and could cause some big time life altering issues if redamaged. Hopefully he'll end up in the booth.

  8. This is NOT ok... Please tell me something was done about this...

But all of the Mexican flags are alright by you? How about if it had been an Obama flag? That's cool by you too I would suppose? I mean trampling on the rights of the people and the Constitution seems be oh so alright with so many nowadays. Cute little Obama stickers on so many vehicles that it's just mind numbing.

Anyways, point being that what one regime did to a once great nation is not so much different than what this regime is doing to our once great country. And yes, both of them tried/are trying to push their agenda global. One is not much worse than the other.

Not saying that I agree with the flag in dispute, there are just others that I find equally or more offensive. And what is it that you suggest be done about it? You're not one of those who believe in the personal freedom and liberties of others as long as they perfectly align with yours are you? I'd say if the children have a question as to what the flag stands for then use it as a time for some education. Otherwise we have these cute little things here in America called rights and one of them is freedom of speech. You also have the right to be offended. I say choose your hatred wisely, maybe start by looking at the occupants of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and tell us who has the worse agenda....

  9. Get your facts straight before putting rumors on the Internet. It wasn't his first time out in his rzr. He wasn't ejected and we didn't hit a witches eye. Flight for life came, landed, and left. Didn't even look for us. The first 911 call was at 12:53 and CPR was perform untill emergency personnel arrived around 3.

Damn son, unwind a little bit, take a deep breath, start back at the top and READ what was posted. No rumors, just what was passed on by another friend of the victims. How about instead of jumping into full jackasselope mode on your very first post on a forum you just offer your take on what happened with the accident? You know, maybe help others in the future not make the same mistake/mistakes that were made? And shed some light on the entire situation since you were a passenger in said RZR.

I've been to Dumont dozens of times over the years but will be making my first trip in a RZR this weekend. The info you could have provided might have been useful to may others as the SXS market is growing by the day.

And your buddy WickedYJ there may want to take the same advice. DDR is one of the tightest knit communities on the web and we will go way above and beyond to help and protect one another. Definitely wouldn't intentionaly be passing bum scoop on a fellow duners demise.

So what really happened so that others may be informed? In your calmest and kindest tone please.

RIP fellow duner, and prayers to the family and friends.

  10. **** DONT FORGET YOUR FLAGS, PASSES, OFFROAD STICKERS, GLOVES, GOGGLES, HELMETS!!*****

Passes? I thought passes were only good from October thru April? They are at Glamis anyway. Seems like BLM would be uniform across the board so as to not cause any confusion. I did miss getting to Dumont last season due to health issues so I just ASSUMED that passes there would be the same as for G.

    Did I miss the bulletin?

On a side note, how many RZRs are going to show up?

  11. Thanks Steve. I may try and get these paddles mounted in time but I doubt it. Since I bought it in late May I've only been able to put about 90 miles on it, just too damn hot to ride, but I've been runnning about 6psi for desert riding. It does feel like I'm powersliding through some of the sweeping turns in the washes. Feels like I'm on ice. Is that the oversteer that you're talking about?

Hopefully I can make it and hopefully there will be other 900's out there as I would like to compare temps, sounds, etc with some other XPs to make sure mine is performing as it should.
