  1. During the 2nd 70 regatta, we all went on a massive ride. Buggies, then quads with farm equipment bringing up the rear. It was the first time I followed the DDR 2-seater crew and I was first quad behind them. I did all I could to stay with them. I never even looked back because I was so busy dodging roosts. At the end of the run, only one other quad was left standing. Best effin ride ever! I hadn't pushed myself on a bike that hard in a long time. Dammit, I'm twitching again.
  2. sorry. Meant for the other guy. 1. I only have a quad. I would need a 7th gear to be as fast as your rail. 2. I've only been breathing since about the late 70's. Can we all just get out there already?!?!?!? Where's the season opener thread???????
  3. Things to remember when following freak around the dunes: 1. Remember to wear your big-girl panties. 2. Be very familiar with 5th gear. 3. Have cold beer waiting back at camp, you will have an inexplicable need to hand him one in gratitude. 4. Take notes, the dude kinda knows Dumont.
  4. Pete, have I ever told you that you're my hero??
  5. It's gotta be that there are a lot more without problems but all I hear are the ones with problems. Just like anything else, right? I would imagine that K&N wouldn't continue selling it for the application if it made them all fail. If, and when, there is a problem, the truck displays "Engine Power Reduced" on the dash and the check engine light comes on. On a side note, I have a new K&N (installed once, never drove with it) for sale. Cheap!
  6. Yeah, I cleaned this one before I ever installed it. NO way was it over-oiled. The stupid thing went into limp mode just idling before I ever drove it. Everything was sealed up tight, and the MAF looked clean when I pulled it. It must not have liked the flow rate because when I installed a new GM filter, it went right back to normal. I'm generally not a fan of over-paying for factory stuff, but in this case it seems to be worth it. Once my truck is out of warranty, I'll start messing with it a little more. You guys that are running K&N, is it on an LMM? I had a K&N on my 04 without a problem, but A LOT of people seem to dislike them on this engine...
  7. Save yourself a headache and buy GM filter. K&N will mess with mass airflow sensor and throw it into limp mode. Don't ask why I know...
  8. I'm running the black label on the Banshee. Good compromise on wheel mass vs. strength.
  9. ITPs tend to get a little sand in the bead letting the air out. It's a pain in the a$$. I have a set of Haulers on the Banshee with about twice the mileage as the Sand Stars on my YFZ. The Haulers never lose air, the Sand Stars on the other hand are all over the place. One trip, the right paddle loses air, the next trip it's the left. As soon as I find a deal on Skats, the ITPs are gone.
  10. No kidding. These little bikes are fun an' all, but I can think of a few things I'd rather spend $5500 on...
  11. Ok, who's running this setup next regatta?? Craigslist Ad
  12. Hang out down here in South OC for a while and you will see just how right you are!
  13. You know I'm in! Either way, over-nighter or early AM. Just let a brutha know!
  14. Nonsense! That thing looks like it can stop on a dime! And imagine the sick wheelies it could pull...
  15. Amy Winehouse; out. Click I had her going out a while ago... Went from: To:
  16. Seems like some people are twitching, me included. Seems like there has been a night/morning ride in early August for the last couple of years... Anybody planning one this year??? I want to go, but I would want to ride with a pretty good size group; summer sand can bite.
  17. Been trying to finish up my garage, and collecting some 70 parts... but both of those only make me miss the sand even more... I've been twitching more than normal, I definitely need to make it out there ASAP
  18. I already have that in the plans. The spigot will be right outside the garage beside the garage door. Looking forward to that one! Also getting a utility sink in the garage running the soft water. Wouldn't want my hands to get all roughed up washing off the Fast Orange, you know?
  19. Thanks guys. My wife has been bugging me to get one for a while, she says it makes her hair feel softer Anyway, I've seen the ones on craigslist, I'm waiting for a new one to pop up there now...
  20. Recently started a garage re-do and it looks like it's all set-up for a water softener. I'm not even sure I want/need one. Would like to hear what differences and costs/benefits are to installing one. We do have particularly hard water. I'm tired of all the white deposits on and around anything related to water. What size unit would I need? 3 bath home, clothes and dish washer, only 3 of us here though (me, wife, 3yr old daughter). Is there a drawback to buying a used unit? Besides the obvious: too old, beat up, not maintained etc... What brand should I look for if I decide to get one? Pro-installation required? Thanks peeps!
  21. Last Gremlin I saw had a bumper sticker that said " I drive this piece of $hit to compensate for my enormous c0@& "
  22. Thanks freak. Not only did I waste my money on the oiled unit, now I can't be cool either?!?!? Fak.
  23. That's one of the few non-GM 60's era cars I would own. Beautiful cars. Also happens to be the only other car I like in orange...
