  1. Went to Barrett-Jackson last week and was only able to take a few pictures. While there, I talked to several people about their favorite car of all time. Answers vary A LOT, to say the least. So here it goes; If you could get 1 car, budget not an issue, what would you get? For this thread, let's forget about trucks (they deserve their own thread), let's focus on coupes, sedans, roadsters, convertibles etc... As for me, I LOVE late 60's- early 70's bow-tie iron. Seems a little mainstream to like those cars, but I do. The Germans make some nice stuff, particularly 911's. Italy has the 599. I always come back to the muscle cars though. I posted this one on another thread, but the ONE is this one: '69 Camaro Z-28 RS 4-speed Muncie Hugger Orange- White skunk stripes Black/Houndstooth interior
  2. Fell in love, but didn't take her home. People tend to overbid at BJ. Now, if it had the RS option, that thing would of been in real danger of being in my garage. Here is the ideal one:
  3. Went to Barrett-Jackson and fell in love. Don't know how I'm gonna explain this to the wife...
  4. She's beautiful. On a side note, does that unpainted door say "pinche migra" ?
  5. Same one I use on the handlebars on my yfz. Good unit
  6. I could have gone without seeing these pics. Dammit, now i'm twitching... I'm not missing the next one for anything! That sand looks so sexy...
  7. Did you keep the pullstarter from the stock 70? You should be able to mount that up. It wont look as cool as a jockey stick kick tho...
  8. Any other Saturday and I would roll in a heartbeat! I'm prepping the garage for epoxy this weekend... I'm definitely in for the next day trip...
  9. I definitely owe Pete a cold brew for that idea. Works like charm every time!
  10. Problem is... Now it's FIVE 70's and only one kid... DOH! It's an 84. The frame has some fresh paint on it, but they didn't bother straightening. Looks like they started a restore (new rear tires, CLEAN muffler, etc.), but must of bit off more than they can chew. I'm seriously considering parting this one out. We'll see... Yeah, he told me he had a ton of responses. Looked like he was regretting posting it for so cheap. Stand-up guy though, I might have taken your extra 25!
  11. Saw it on CL, and I couldn't help it. My fingers clicked the "reply" button on their own. It was cheap and it needs A LOT of love. I'm starting to think I'm like the cat lady who takes in every stray that comes around. At first I thought the frame was toast because of the angle of the tank and engine in the pics. Turns out that the tank was just resting on top of the spine for the picture. The frame is bent, but should straighten out pretty good with the ol' bottle jack. Worst case scenario, I have a spare seat pan (kinda rough), pull starter (working perfect), tank (almost NO rust!); all for less than a nice steak dinner. Now, I need to get crackin on the other three trikes in the garage before the better-half notices there's a fourth...
  12. I'm still surprised by how many people associate octane with quality. He either made an expensive mistake, or has an expensive misconception...
  13. I remember a thread a while back about deals on shocks for trucks. Dad bought an 05 Silverado that is clean, but all four shocks need replacements. Any recommendations on which shocks to look for? He's also considering a leveling kit, just to get a little bit bigger tires to fit. Any advice on these? It's an 05 1500 2wd Crew
  14. Sick! She's an awesome racer. Looks like a natural road-racer; picking all the right lines and protecting her position. I was sitting here rooting for her as I watched that: "Git 'em!" If it were not for the stall, it would have been all over... Makes me think about getting sway bars for the YFZ...
  15. Thanks for the tips FE135, I'll look into those. I found this spider munchin on a mosquito this morning. I couldn't get the focus and lighting just right, but it was still pretty cool. The little barbs on the spider's legs aren't visible to my naked eye; this macro lens thing is pretty rad.
  16. This thread always makes me curse the lack of time I have to learn as much as I want. I bought a cheapie wide angle and macro on eBay and been playing with that... I really need to take some time to play with more settings though On a side note; until I can get my hands on a full version of Photochop, is there any freeware or cheapware that is pretty good?
  17. Those fenders are gonna look killer!
  18. Hey, it may be slow, but it's cheap to maintain!!
  19. I read an Op-Ed (in Newsweek, I think), that explained it as progressives trying to move civilization away from from individualism and toward populism, noting that it would cost more in energy, money, etc to have the trains than the status quo. Trains equal people having to stick to a mandated schedule and routes, where in a car we are "free" to roam as we please. A little too tin-foil-hat for me, but interesting.
  20. Might go that direction to intersect with proposed train to and from bay area.
  21. I have 4 70's in the garage, allegedly. The wife claims I didn't tell her about the last one. I claim she couldn't hear me tell her because of all that snoring she was doing. Anyway, congrats! The addiction only gets worse.... On the tank rust, here is a thread: Tank cleaning thread I know dunefreak had posted up a thread about it when he first got his bike... No title shoudn't be a huge deal. Needs to be taken in for VIN verification if it is out of the system. Not a bad idea to register them.
  22. Just shows an opposing viewpoint: Mixed Economy Also interesting: Socialist America?
  23. I agree that the government is going way too far in trying to plan the economy. I think all of us are in agreement that we have a right to keep as much of the money we earn as possible. That idea is at odds with programs that are socialistic in nature, but are popular. Medicare, Social Security, public schools, BLM,etc. To some degree, a mixed economy (socialist AND capitalist) is necessary. And it's not just in America. EVERY country in the world has a mixed economy (including China). Throwing around words like socialism, Marxism and communism are a tactic to elicit fear in a practice that is not only common, but necessary. To think that the republican party will step in and make things less socialist is a mistake. Government grew during the last two republican presidents, although they vowed to slash spending. Allowing Dems to have their way will certainly end in higher spending as well. What we should demand from our elected officials is unslanted truth that will allow us to hold them accountable for their decisions. We are fed mental junk food in order to distract us from really taking a hard look at what EVERY politician has done for us, their constituents. BTW, here is a portion of the dictionary definition of socialism: " distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done" Doesn't sound so bad, right? It's actually part of the Marxist theory. Socialism lies somewhere between Pure capitalism and communism. **disclaimer: I don't actually endorse pure socialism. I am fiscally conservative.** Here is the portion of the health care bill that talks about reserve corps. Copied and pasted from actual bill. It's on page 543 when referencing. Make up your own minds. To me, it looks like the senate has to approve of the officers and they are called into duty by surgeon general. The video may not be technically wrong though, the pres is Commander in Chief right? Doesn't he already have control of military? Whatever the case, the video may not be giving complete information. Just enough to scare you into thinking the end is near. ‘‘SEC. 203 ø42 U.S.C. 204¿.
