  1. Sounds like they are out there now, Kids are out for spring break around this time
  2. Thanks for the update Jeff, please keep us posted on Jon and Logan's recovery. Prayers to all effected. Eric
  3. Pretty sure his name is John Murphy, none the less hope he heals quickly
  4. The sound of that crash was horrendous, I went back and forth to the injured's camp a few times to keep the injured passengers wife informed / calm as she was watching the kids in camp, we also took her to see her husband before he was flown out. Having dentboys wife at the seen was a true blessing for those three, and hopefully a relief for the wife in camp. Props to Pete for handling communications (at the price of his phone), Anna for taking exceptional care care of the young one and Chad for acting quickly / getting his wife. I've seen a lot of incidents like this over the years, some much worse, it really sinks in how remote the area is and how helpless one can feel. While I have my opinions on this particular accident, I will keep them to myself. Most of these accidents can be prevented and a lot of injuries can be reduced by having proper safety equipment. Hope everyone involved heal up quick and even more gain knowledge. I will state the obvious though, I wouldn't drive out of the trailer in a rzr with stock belts and / or a stock cage. I think any seat would have come out the way the rzrs are designed as they rely on the belts / passenger to keep them in place. Hope all involved recover quickly, I fractured C6-C7 on a dirt bike years ago, it may take a while but the spine can recover from trauma. edit to add: There was a group of guys and a girl there (for the drags) in a white F250, they were first on scene as they were right there when it happened. They stayed with the injured till all were transported which was quite a while. Nicely done fellow duners
  5. AT&T is all but useless out there, stick with Verizon
  6. I've gone every route in the book, a few times, I'm back to a moho and enclosed simply because it is nice to pull up and go to sleep and especially because I can load my stuff without having to have the wife finished organizing the trailer first. Some trips I can stretch an extra day out because I can load in the evening and hit the road before daylight to get to work
  7. the suspense is killing me, it is "this weekend" do tell...
  8. I would not request any additional rules. We all know where and when to be careful and when there are enough rules to cite the area gradually becomes a cash cow. Example… Glamis
  9. The Dumont and Glamis regattas are history, here is a get together coming up in Pismo http://www.glamisdunes.com/invision/index.php?showtopic=328753
  10. Looks Killer, congrats! What motor / trans? Make sure there is head clearance in case of a rollover. You can always have the seat lowered if it is close.
  11. Thats a bummer, most sand cars sold are through there or racedezert.com. the car above is an E-85 car GEN 4 FUNCO , 5 SEATER , C&G 460 PACKAGE , 2D TRANSMISSION , RADIO & INTERCOM , TOP LIGHT BAR , NEW LED LIGHTS ON THE BOTTOM , ALL NEW HEIMS LAST YEAR, NEW REAR TIRES , SHOCKS REBUILT LAST YEAR. $28,999.00 909-823-6171
  12. Not really fond of the colors (panels and intercooler scoop need a wrap), but if you want to dune fast especially in the tight stuff this car would be hard to beat. Has radios / car to car, big power, bypasses and from a VERY respected builder. I have seen the car but do not know the owner. http://www.glamisdunes.com/invision/index.php?showtopic=334489 Car would be approx 14' if me more serves me correctly
  13. So many options, I'd stick with a well known builder. 2, 4 or 5 seat? At 30K you are going to be in a mendeola 2d car most likely. That being said I would stick to a smaller motor with forced induction (2.5l turbo subaru, 3.5l turbo honda etc) these will give you the HP needed for the sand but don't have the gear crunching torque of the LS platform. I'd also look for a car with bypasses in the rear minimum.
  14. Too bad your "pucker moment" pic wasn't a little higher resolution
  15. Your budget is spot on but your length requirement will severely limit your options as will your height. Both mid and rear engine cars have their advantages, the mid engine cars I have owned seemed to have a little too much weight on the front end in rough sections (hard pack) for my liking. I think if you can rearrange your storage to accommodate 2-3 more feet you will be much happier with your selections of cars. As for the Revo, they look fun and the radius on the cage may accommodate your height. Other pre radius roof smaller cars such as an SU ultralight will not afford the head room you need.
  16. Godspeed fellow duner. Prayers for all effected.
  17. Never heard of anyone complaining of being unnecessarily hassled at Dumont, Period. IMO it is an example on how they should operate as opposed to other so cal sand boxes.
  18. Rent a side by side such as a polaris xp1000, Get insurance and keep your hands inside. Have fun and be safe
  19. Nicely done Captain, appropiate decision
