  2. Seen more accidents on / around those fingers than any other place out there the 40 years I've been going. Hope everyone heals quickly
  3. we run the 3"s but go with whatever is most comfortable to you and yours, just make sure to get a set with sternum straps

  6. That shot is epic, needs to be blown up, framed and hanging in Pete's garage
  7. Promised my daughter I'd take her out as she is a freshman in college and hasn't had a chance to get to the desert this year. My brother asked to use our backyard to get married Friday so we adjusted it to a day trip. So friday afternoon I go to the local motorcycle shop to get a batt for a friend who is already at D, get race gas and pick up XP and Buggy, both batts dead, smart chargers won't work on them so went and bought two new chargers. rolled Xp into driveway and installed power steering in it. Left Xp and rail charging in driveway overnight and started loading at 5am. loaded rail into trailer and backed it up a bit and brand new shifter was stuck in reverse… rolled it back into driveway and headed to my shop to grab another XP. Xp #2 had 2 flats and a dead batt so pulled on out of another one belonging to a friend and hit the road. First dune run 10 min in a rider on a two wheeler in our group seized his bike so we tied the front into the xp and I towed him in. Went on a second ride and and caught the sunset, way stressful / expensive day for 2 dune runs but as we hit the asphalt on the way to Baker my daughter grabbed my hand and dozed off like she did as a little girl and made every second worthwhile
  8. If you start on Fri, they may make it up the hill by the end of the weekend J/K, had a blast out there last weekend in the XP, couldn't imagine how much cheddar / effort it takes to make these truly fast. Good luck with the event
  9. Tried it once in a ktm, within 10 minutes into a national hare and hound the water transferred from cooling system to the trans via the water pump shaft seal, kept adding water and found out how tough a motorcycle trans is The two could have been totally unrelated but it was enough for me to not use it again.
  10. Just got in a few new straps, if anyone wants any old ones for tow straps let me know and I'll bring em to the regatta

  12. put it on jacks and get the drive train turning, see if you can isolate. any play anywhere (bearings etc) when on jacks? looks like the angle sweeping back may be pretty severe in the pics but hard to tell. What kind of chassis is that? Quicksand?
  13. Make sure to reinforce the floor (maybe lay down some plywood) where those contact trailer floor.
  14. I owned a car with them and a friend has had them in an extreme platinum for 7 years or so with no issues except shearing the sacrificial bolts a few times. Hows the angle on them? if the cars geometry left too much angle for cv's they may have tired these but angle may be too much for them as well. Also keep them greased and sliding freely, another company tried to make these (high angle drivelines) and took out a lot of trailing arms / transmission cases. Personally, I would check angles and switch back to cv's axles.
  15. I'd run the 29" tubeless, less chance of a pinch flat
