  1. Nasty drop on top of banshee, dont think ive seen it like that before. Looks like yall had a blast though
  2. Come on august! Cant get here fast enough.....ill trade this Afghanistan sand for dumont sand any day haha.
  3. jesus.....so people are stealing freaking tailgates now? what the hell???
  4. I will be participating in the cleanup on the 16th...is the cleanup saturday and sunday? is the raffle and 50/50 sunday?
  5. I feel bad for the people that spent so much money to get their equipment ready to go, many took time off, some had already purchased plane tickets. It's not like business is going to get any better for the money being brought in to the BLM by enthusiasts due to the economy and gas heading in the wrong direction again.
  6. This is kind of a bummer for me....I've never seen one of these events before and was looking forward to watching.
  7. Anytime man, Good to hear you got checked out and all good to go! May want to check the PSI on the tire before you ride it again....I pumped it up quite a bit to get the bead to seat. That little ole pump I had probably didn't get it too high but I'd for sure still check it.
  8. When I saw this title I knew exactly what it was about. I remember you saying that when the cob webs were shaken off. I was one of them, the other guy doesn't get on here that much so I'll let him know, I"m sure you or anyone else would have done the same if it were one of us, that's what is so great about the dunes....you have lots of friends out there even if you do not know them to start with. I'm so glad you were OK! It was a scary sight when we came over that hill. We found it hard to read the dunes for some reason because they were pretty different from the last time we went. We definitely enjoyed that fast ride, thanks for letting us tag along. Did you go get checked out? Your son was very knowledgeable about everything and you should be proud. Hopefully your tire held up too after I popped it back on, guess having an air pump in my camel back paid off.
  9. Sorry to hear that dude. I can do most stuff on my own. I'll get a printout of my AFR and adjust accordingly. I just want to go back to ATV cycle being they dynoed mine before any of my engine upgrades so I want the same run. I tried racers edge since ATV cycle's dyno was broke and got it tuned pretty good myself before i got there, I had a nice smooth AFR line at around 14, little rich on the bottom though since I'm running a 45 ...only bad part about them was they don't have dyno tires so I had to use my dang heavy old dirt tires on stock yamaha wheels so I couldn't get a close reading on my hp change since I ran dyno tires for my baseline run. They are definitely more motorcycle oriented but they only charged me 50 bucks. I turned my fuel screw down to about 1 turn so that should take care of the richness at this altitude. I'll go back to 1.5-2.0 turns at dumont. I can definitely see that my HP is coming on quicker now, but I'm gonna take it in to ATV cycle just to get a couple runs in with the AFR readout so I can see what kind of gains I had. Hopefully they'll know how to overlay my previous run with my new run and to have my printout with HP, TQ, AFR all on the same printout. We shall see, just sucks I have to waste another 85 bucks. Needless to say, after this dyno run....I don't see myself dynoing anymore anytime soon.
  10. yeah i'm in the 3rd clip on the NCVQ, so that may be the 4th clip for the middle. I really hate to adjust that one so i'm hoping it's good on the 3rd clip haha. I saw an af meter in one of their pics online. They tune race bikes there, not sure about how extensive their quad work is. I stuck a 185 in there and the plug was pretty white, I know on 4 strokes it's hard to judge the plug but i stuck a 188 in and it had a nice chocolate brown color. You think a 45 pilot is good too? The quad ran really good with where it's at, no backfires or anything like that, good snappy throttle, and I don't seem to be sluggish anywhere so we'll see I guess.
  11. Have you used this dyno before or known anyone that has? Do they put street tires on there for the run? It didn't seem like they were too keen on tuning a carbed ATV when I called haha. They asked me If I ran a power commander and I said no, I have a 2007 yfz carbed bike then he was like "ooooo, hold on let me talk to my dyno guy and have him call you back" I think that's why they asked me if I was going to be the one changing the jets and stuff when he called back. They should still be able to give me advice on what jets to use right?
  12. Im running a cp 12:75:1 compression on my 2007 yfz. I think rap is running stock compression on his raptor
  13. he's got a hotcam, forgot what stage...i think it's a stage 2. I wouldn't mind trying a warpspeed intake cam for mine as long as it doesn't take from my low end and keeping the stock exhaust in the modded position
  14. i heard it was not too long ago that they shut down....a member on here said they shut down. I do have some skinny on Racers Edge Performance in Vegas and their dynos. It's 60 for 3-5 runs to see where you are at for 4 stroke ATV's and if it needs tuned it could run from 75-125....waaaaaaay cheaper than ATV cycle and their 250 which seems to be their going rate whether they tune for a full 3 hrs or not, i'm not sure and i'm not gonna take that chance. another cool thing about racers edge is they'll let me change the jets myself after we dyno to see where we are at, so other than running the machine, i'm doing all the work, which is totally fine by me and how i like it. If i do it there, what i'll probably do is tune it and get it all good and maybe go to ATV cycle just for a run but thats it. i really wish i would have known about racers edge or sams so i could have gotten my baseline numbers there before my work was done. oh well, live and learn.
  15. i went back today to ATV cycle to get a few different printouts and got a little clarification on the 250 price. they said that is normally about a 3.5 hour pricing but if they don't work on it that much it could be less. i think they charge 85 per hr. they said they worked on a kfx 700 for about 8 hrs.... that's a long a$$ time haha. They said I could leave my quad with them and they'll tune it but im' pretty sure i want to be there while they are tuning if I use them to make sure they are no kidding working on my bike the entire time i'm billed for. in todays world i trust no one haha
  16. thanks man, all kinds of different places i didn't know about haha.
  17. i know, i mentioned i was getting my carb bored to 42.5 and they didn't think it could be bored that big. i do all my work myself since i don't really trust too many people, plus i'm pretty mechanically inclined since i'm a jet mechanic so most things aren't too hard as long as i have the tools. i would really like to be hands on with the dyno when tuning too....replacing my own jets and such, but it's hit or miss whether they will let me back there. i really wish i knew about a different dyno for my baseline.
  18. cool man, did not know about this place. i'll have to check it out. not too bad of a drive for me either.
  19. i'm going to try and talk them down, i could have swore when we talked before it was around 125-175 for tuning and 85 just to run it and see where i'm at. it sucks that they are pretty much the only true ATV store that i know of...there may be more but they are right down the road. freakin ridenow never has stock oem stuff in stock either. went there for a banjo bolt and they don't have it, went there for standard oem everyday parts and they don't have it, they actually refer you to ATV cycle haha. i get some good deals sometimes there and then other times i'm like wtf on their pricing. i would really like to run the same dyno to see what i gained or didn't gain. for some reason i thought racers edge was in arizona or something and pure evil was pretty much the only ATV dyno place in Vegas. i'm hoping to get some break in time friday then try and dyno saturday(without breaking the bank). i didn't want to miss any riding this year since i'm deploying in april to a terrible place and since i had family in town for a lot of feb, i felt it was a good time to tear down the engine, get some work done, and get it all back together for a few rides before i leave.
  20. it really should just be the main.....pilot should still be 45...i went with an NCVQ needle on the 3rd clip to richen the middle a little since that was where i was just slightly lean at. i had an NDSR needle on the 3rd clip which is a bit leaner than the NCVQ in the same position. I bet i can get it to within 2 main jets of being spot on so they shouldn't have to work it too long. i'm going to start with a 185 and see how it does. my carb should be showing up tomorrow, i also had to order a banjo bolt for one of my oil lines to the head. i torqued it to the required spec according to the manual and the damn thing broke. hopefully the one i ordered from rockymountainatv gets here tomorrow as well so i can at least attempt to start it.
  21. you all hate him but i neither like nor dislike the guy and i know he's not very good with words on there and i can definitely see where all the arguments come from. from my perspective though, i don't race, nor do i want to, i'm a middle of the pack duner that wanted a little bit more power and get in the 50hp range for the cheapest i could get it. if i wanted to race or have one of the badest bikes out there, i would have chosen someone else. i called around and viewed websites etc for almost a year and got the best price from him...I contacted him and he hasn't asked any favors in posting any results or anything, i'm just doing it on my own so other budget guys can see what they can do to get a little more power. most people hate him but his work is still pretty decent for the avg guy like myself....the military doesn't pay much, especially when i have a daily drive to Creech AFB. I had Sredrum bore my Carb to 42.5. i'm a fair minded guy and do not partake in any of that stuff like what goes on over there, i just offer up my opinions. I offer out what I know and have learned from ALL of the guys there and i have learned a TON. i do what i do for what I want, not anyone else, i could care less who built it....i needed pretty good work for cheap. please do not let what happens over on central spill into this thread EDIT: for those interested, I'll be forking out a paycheck(j/k) to ATV cycle to tune it and see where I end up from what it was prior to the work. I'm going to tune it pretty close, they'll dial it in....maybe it will save me a little cash. Wish i had known how much they charged to tune before hand, it's expensive to the tune of about 250 according to pike. over half of what i paid to have the head and carb done. my expectations are about 52 hp and 33 tq
