  1. This is a touchy situation and I see issues with both sides of the argument. On the rancher's side, yes this land has been under his families care for 200 years but he has no paperwork or recorded deed that the land is his. He is just using it without paying fees that other rancher's pay. I think that's unfair but he has had more than a fair chance to settle with the BLM and Forest service. Probably could have worked it out peacefully but I think hew wanted a confrontation and now he has it. The Governments argument is that all land is owned by the US Government unless it's purchased by a citizen, corporation, county, state etc.I find issues with this but 2 years ago when a bunch of us went to the Clark County commissioners meeting and asked them NOT to give Gold Butte to the Fed's they did it anyway and this where the ball started rolling. If this had been kept in county hands we could have negotiated with the rancher's and collected fees that he is willing to pay to the county just not the US Government. Second there's rumors that there is a vast amount of natural resources under this land and the government wants to sell it or lease it to large corporations to mine, put solar and windmills on. So is this right? I don't think so. There Endangered species of the desert tortoise is a failure as the county is getting ready to destroy hundreds of tortoises in Red Rock because they can't afford to support their habitat any longer. Why not re-supply them to the desert where they belong. Wildlife and farm animals have co existed in that area for centuries why now is it an issue? This could be the fuse of a big explosion as the extreme right are just lining up to start something with the Federal government that could get out of hand quickly and get us all involved in a civil unrest that is un-needed and unwanted. The solution is not for violence but an opening of hopefully every Americans eye's that the US Government is becoming more and more over armed and out of control. This may be why the Federal Government ordered so much ammo? I think Obama would love a civil unrest that he could order Marshall law and put his gold crown on and make things the way he wants them to be not what we want the country to be. I would like to see a truce and have the fed's pull out for 60-90 days and the rancher move his cattle off of the land or pay the rent. Just my opinion Terry
  2. Yes it's at CBm trying to figure out why it keeps going into limp mode.
  3. Bert they are regular O frames. Look on Oakley's site and compare the O frame and the Crowbar sand goggles. Pretty easy to see the difference and I don't think they ever made the sand goggles in plain colors.
  4. If I have the car back then i would either do a day run or crash in the back of my truck. So it's up to the dune and mechanic gods as to whether I will be there or not. Either way once I get the car back I need to get in at least a day trip to test it before leaving for St. Anthony's on 6-6.
  5. I had a shop on water st and boulder Hwy. that was going to do the two front bucket seats and armrests and unfortunatly when I got ready to get it done they are gone. Anybody know somebody who does this? Terry
  6. I can only give you advice that I learned in trauma Intervention training, and that you did the right thing. She can remember him from the last time she saw him healthy without having to live with the nightmare of the damages he apparently recieved. You did the right thing. Thank you for being there with her. Although she may never be able to tell you I am sure she appreciated it and will always appreciate that you were there for her at that very bad time in her life. Terry
  7. If that's to soon for you I will be making the trip to inland empire sometime in the hopefully near future and could meet you in route in Barstow also. Terry
  8. I have a couple of parts off of my Razor that I want out of my garage. Safe Glo Lighted Whip that is white on bottom/blue in the middle and red on the top. Flag has a little wear but it is in good shape. I have duned with this whip on and never had a break or an issue. Includes both connectors. New was $90.00 sell for $50.00 OBO.
  9. Jim, some of us do not live with their phone in their hand. You could use the numbers on the phone and dial them anytime to actually talk to me anytime:) All the numbers are scrubbed off in the manufacturing process. I bought them from Fullerton right after I bought the RZR in 2011 so I don't have the invoice lying around. But from using a tape it appears the paddles are 26"x 12" and the buffs are 24"x 10". Guy at Fullerton said they were the best combo for the RZR S. BTW, the wheels are powder coated
  10. Thanks Mike! This guy is driving about 16 hours to meet me in Ely and would have driven the other 4 to get here. He is even paying for my fuel up and back. Can't ask for a more motivated buyer. Maybe i did sell it for less than the market would bear, but it's sold and I am not dealing with any headaches. That's worth a lot.
  11. Sold, this baby will spend the rest of it's life on the trails in Cor D lane, Idaho.
  12. I don't think any cage including a lot of sand cars could have withstood that impact. Dumont is probably the most technical dunes there are in the US. I have ridden every set of dunes in the US except Killpecker , WY. and Silver Lake , Mich. They are not for the uneducated and newbie drivers to go full blast up and over any of those dunes. In the almost 40 years I have duned at Dumont I have been there numerous times when terrible things have happened and it does cause a different feel on the dunes. I rolled my Jeep there in 1975 and felt the most important thing to do was go for a ride up the face of the front dune with a friend. Ride the horse kinda thing. In this situation obviously and unfortunately that was impossible. I would love to see some kind of education course available even if it was just a U-Tube video and that might be a thing that BLM could ask for next year in a grant request. I will entertain that at the next sub-group meeting. Education is the key to staying healthy out there. My heart aches for the victims and I know they can can not ever enjoy the true beauty that Dumont is but I can only hope that they RIP and my sincere condolences to their families. Terry
  13. Well that deal didn't work out unfortunately. The guy from Idaho had an issue with being able to make the trip and get back in time for an appointment . He might re-appear but until then it's back for sale and ready to go. Terry
  14. It would behoove the manufacturers to put safety classes on when they purchase a new SXS. Wouldn't be hard to set up a business teaching classes out at Nellis dunes and apex. But unlike the ATV side of it the manufacturers have not really been hit that hard with losses from lawsuits. I am not sure how you could get the companies to sponsor such a class like they do the ATV's but it might come down to getting the Government involved and first that takes money, lot's of time and patience and who know's if that would even work. Probably not many SXS accidents in the trails and the duning population is a small fraction of end users of these machines that I doubt it could get passed. You could create a course and get the dealers to pay or help pay for them to new customers. But have you ever tried to get $$ from a motorcycle dealer? There tighter than ticks! Don't know what the answer is but in this case it would be curious to know if it was a rental or if they just bought it and joined another bunch of unknowing friends and all went to the middle of the desert and none of them spoke English? Something just does not sound right about that. Just saying
  15. Yeah it looks like it is sold. I will know tomorrow but Mike's idea of putting it in SLC craigslist was the key. Folks from Twin Falls Idaho are driving down to Cedar City on Monday to meet me. I just have to verify bank transfer went through. It sold for list, makes me feel like I listed it lower than I should have but I think they will put it to good use and I get to pay the tax man and not remove funds from my investments. So it's a win win. Thanks again Mike for the head's up on Salt lake City as the place to sell them. Terry

  17. I believe they have to be accompanied by a licensed driver. Don't think there is a age restriction
  18. Yeah that's a constant complaint of mine. If we could actually get a Barstow BLM employee to do a "Business Plan" for the RRAC committee then we could actually present it to them. It's only been 3 years i can't believe you would think the US Government would work faster than that?
  19. We are looking at a new piece of equipment that may ease the road situation because it can be towed behind a 3/4 ton truck and there fore we would not be at the whim of the operators. But I will make sure that I bring up the cleaning up of the road well before the actual holiday. Also we will be specifying the holiday weekends for next year at this meeting so hopefully no fiasco's such as was this year. Anything else anyone wants brought up?(within reason, no I cannot get your ticket fixed:) Terry
