I plan on calling Barstow BLM tomorrow to find out about the road and will update as I find out, but the other posts are right slow and easy it is what it it is until they get a grader operator in Barstow,. Now they have to bring one up from Needles and I hope that's there plan for Halloween but understand BLM is going from 0 to 100 this week!

Yeah I agree Pete, Dale has bailed me out on a couple of issues I needed help with. Always felt like I was charged a fair price and he always delivered faster than anyone else would have. great service and great prices. I drool over the cages when I go down there just haven't been able to pull the trigger yet. One of these days!

yes, this only applies to people who go through Indian Springs and over to Pahrump from there. If you licve in the very NW part of the valley it is an easier tow that way. No big hills and almost all freeway. For those of us who use Mt. Potosi and Tecopa or Pahrump to get to Dumont are fine.

For folks that come into Dumont from the US95 side they will be repaving during the day starting Wed. and continuing through the 25th of Oct. Expect delays and flag personal and pilot cars. Crews are working from 5AM to 6 PM. daily.

I bought a 12" light bar from Mike & Adam for my car. I replaced 2 Lazer star lights that were on the car when I bought it. They were ok but just that ok. They also had to have wires down the frame and zip tied. I hated the look of them so I went with the bar just before the car show. Got the new bar set up and wired in and from what I can tell it would appear that they are going to light my world. They were worth the money and the install is a lot cleaner with no more hanging wires. The wife made me a custom vinyl cover for the bar to protect the lens from sandblast and rock chips. Easily removed when it it's time to go to work. Definitely a good update for the car. Terry

Thanks to all, I may be another year older but I feel like a kid at Christmas waiting for Thursday and to see what the new motor does to my beloved car. The thought of being able to dune without the constant nagging thought of an oncoming implosion is going to be epic. I love Dumont and the freedom it stands for. I never saw the future my life has taken when I woke up in 1975 and looked out the camper window for my first peek at Dumont but I truly believe that there is a connection between that place and me. Sounds weird I know but it is what it is. The dune gods have been good to me and I can't thank them enough along with all the friends I have been able to meet that share part or all of the same feelings I have for that section of dirt. Again thanks for the Birthday wishes, they are mucho appreciated. Terry

From the shots you put up it looks like a lot of weight hanging up there if it does not have something connecting it to the frame. Unsecured weight bouncing means cracked pipes. Just saying

I got the information on the passes from the Chief ranger out of Barstow BLM office. Pat told me no services provided no fee demo required. I will stand on that.

I would imagine that they are working but since their are NO government services the purchase of passes is not required.

It is surprising that #1 went out as they are usually reserved for the members of the sub-group. I have had #1 or #2 for years. Maybe with the new management at Barstow we won't get any reimbursement for our 5 trips to Barstow a year. Wouldn't surprise me a bit.

I am open to it but have not made up my mind. If the Government is shut down and there is no LEO/EMT presence on Halloween I would not put my life nor my families lives in danger due to a busy weekend with no controls and to many past Halloweens where things were barely kept in control with BLM presence there. People seem to get over excited because maybe they got a new toy or there just needing to punish some sand but I have watched to many helicopters (more than any other holiday weekend) COME IN. without blm TO CALL FOR FLIGHTS THE CHANCES OF SOMEONE GETTING SERIOUSALLY HURT OR DYING INCREASES 100 FOLD. I WOULD NOT PUT MY FAMILY IN SUCH A POSITION AS THE SAND DUNES WILL WAIT FOR ME TO BRING MY OWN PUNISHMENT TO THEM AT ANOTHER SAFER TIME.
