problems @ dumont, as seen by responsible duners, with possible solutions

Recommended Posts

My kid wa.statecrew wears a flatbilled hat and the shorts that are too long, with a belt buckle full of rhinestones, and underwear showing, baggin in the pants................................................

Sounds like a flatbiller, HOWEVER, he is a very very respectable kid. Ask anyone who went to Havasu.

I think that a "flatbiller" is defined IMO as some one who is disrespectable, could wear his/her hat in anyway. :barf: Its a stereo type, something like how the "echo terrorist" view ALL duners. :thumb:

:D

My son wears his hat and pants the same way and so do the majority of the high school guys. I don't like it but our parents didn't like what we wore either. My son obeys the rules and is very polite so I don't think you could lump everyone who wears their hat that way in the same negative category. Just my :porn: :D

First of there is no way that we could get a regulation passed that would bar people from the dunes based on there choice of hats that is just ridiculous.

Second is that for law enforcement to do anything about a problem the LEO has to witness the infraction and feel it is serious enough to warrant action. :porn: :barf:

Yeah .....that's what we all need. More government, more rules, more law enforcement. WTF :barf:

Flatbiller, punk, wigger, white trash, skin heads...it's all the same. Even some easy going respectable people go off the deep end when they get away from the establishment. Police youself and your own group. I think trouble starts when you try to change things out of your circle of influence.:thumb::laughoff:

flatbiller

1. Any person who callously disregards logic and common sense, usually by putting other people in harm’s way by speeding through camp areas, not having spotters while jumping, leaving their trash, drinking and riding or driving, causing disturbances throughout the night and can be spotted easily by the rangers constantly at their camp.

2. A person who generally only thinks for themselves, with total disregard about the consequences of his/her actions.

I have just come to call the plight of the duning community flatbillers, as it seems they are the epitome of all that is wrong with our sport. Remember, the problem-makers are generally a small portion of the total duning population....but like the saying goes........a few bad apples.... :barf:

are their people who wear flat brimmed hats that are responsible? yes, so not all flatbillers are a threat to the responsible duning community.

the responsible flatbiller community needs to stand up and denounce the population of the irresponsible flatbillers :porn:

you must not have been around our camp real early in the morning or real late at night have ya richardcheese :P

why? you guys doing things that you denounce as per Pete's flyer?

it isnt all the people that wear the flat bills. like :porn: said....in general, when a person does something wrong out in the dunes, they are the typical flatbiller.

what in the hell is going on at your guys's camp that would make me think you guys are flatbillers??

you can do whatever you want brother.. this is america. to make a long story short, a bunch of folks sailed over here from england and declared this a free country and drafted a constitution with amendmants, first two amendmants as follows: "#1) the right to free speech. #2) right to bear arms.. kinda odd those two being the first two amendmants? probably not.

a flat biller = someone who wears a flat-billed ballcap. you don't have to meet any other criteria other than wearing that particular wardrobe accessory in that particular manner. if you see somebody on the street wearing a metro officer uniform.. they're 10 times out of ten a metro officer. if not, they're going to be arrested for attempting to portray a metro officer. got it? this is not debatable.

soo.. wearing a flat-billed ballcap, of any brand, makes you a flat-biller. does it make you a maniac? no. does it make you disobey posted rules? no. does it mean you're an idiot? no (but wearing a flat-billed cap and posting flat-billers suck may, unless there's an inside joke involved.) does it make you succeptible to a stereotype? yes.

anywho.. considering the newfound commotion i've stumbled into.. what about flat-billers anyway? i seen a couple doods at the river run in laughlin with blue rags on their head, underneath a flat-billed ballcap.. i thought it looked pretty good and they were accompanied by some nice broads.

:freakin_nuts:

Being a metro officer means to have a Job as a metro officer. Wearing a flat billed hat and being called a flat biller is a stereotype. This certain Stereotype, whatever your definition may be..., Doesnt apply to everyone who wears a flat billed hat.

What i got kinda steamed at was that the person that started this topic had said that the "flat biller's" that he was referring to 1) didnt listen, and 2) Were being idiots. You asked if i was wearing a flat billed hat...Yes i was. I thought you were referring to me as one of the idiots that didnt listen when someone asks them nicely to.

never my intention, i can understand now why you took it harshly. i didn't read richard's post thoroughly.

but apparently some of the folks on this forum have had some bad experiences with flat billed ballcap wearers and now everyone with that appearance is stereotyped in a negative way. like the broad with the kid who wears a flat billed ballcap but he's not a flat biller because he's respectful? that just makes him respectful, doesn't make him not a flat-biller.

i'm a junkie.. does that make me a loser? nobody ever says "i wanna be a junkie when i grow up." i loved those commercials.

that was me. I then posted later and clarified my statement as to what I meant by flatbillers

are all flatbillers bad? no. Do other people, other that flatbillers, cause problems in the dunes? yes

it just seems lately that the flatbiller genre doesnt give a fk about what they do in the dunes, and who it affects.

stereotyping is not a good thing, but you can also be pro-active about it too. when you dune with your friends, or you see some azzclowns you don't know, and they are doing things like

leaving their trash

jumping without a spotter

getting wasted drunk and driving or riding

not respecting other people

haulin azz through campsites..

you can tell them to calm the effe down and quit acting like an idiot

the whole point is that if people continue to act stupid in the dunes, we won't have them very much longer to recreate in.

I hope you didn't take anything that I wrote personally
