I read on this site once, to slow down because the dunes are gonna be there when you get there...I think of a GNR song about patience... It took me several years to save up to get one of those overpriced diesel behemoths; I love it, and it's more than capable, but I started out as the half ton 4.8L gasser guy. Secondly, I don't stand on it with my diesel, because fuel prices still have me bent over. I agree with the math earlier stated; a few minutes behind a slow pickup ain't gonna cost you that much time. Heck, you could be stuck behind some stupid truck driver going even slower it's just the risk you take running big equipment, sometimes you win, sometimes you get caught behind grandpa snail...accept that and drive cautiously, and we will all get to have fun at the dunes

we got there thursday afternoon as we were setting up say all the cops and stuff for the accident, sorry to hear. our weekend was amazing. weather was great. we had a brand new rzr1000 loved it. sad to see not many vendors but was happy to see the ones that were there. here r some pics

Not everyone can afford a high power diesel with all the bells and whistles, especially the way they are priced these days. I say as long as it's safe and they aren't impeding traffic then ok. BUT, when they block traffic going that slow up a 2 lane 55 mph speed limit highway, not cool. That's when people start trying to pass and it becomes dangerous. There's not many trucks with haulers or rv's that can do the speed limit going up Potisi towards Pahrump, but at least there is a passing lane.

lol wow, this thread went way the wrong way. Yes I do see where it could strike some concern, I was just trying to get to know people before I went out to dumont for my first time. But coming from Vegas like many people on this forum knowing the theft rate in just this city alone my stuff stays locked down 24/7 especially away from home. Regardless I had a blast during my first time at dumont, I met some awesome people, and pushed my Isuzu amigo to the max.

We're heading out in the morning. Rest of the group coming in starting Wed. Only one child in the group, but I'm bringing candy just in case lol

Saw this coming from your first post. The BLM ARE very serious about "Event's" or anything that looks like it could become one. The Off road race a few years ago where the trophy truck went into the crowd did us in. Since that moment everything has changed and things they might have looked the other way on just don't happen. Thoughts and prayers to Gina and family, I saw the car and it was bad. I was out at comp hill thurs, fri and sat night. I saw a lot of close calls but no hits. I saw a lot of carnage out there, new RZRs rolled, sand rails losing wheels and front ends. Sat about 5pm when the shadows were bad I saw a 4 wheeler going about 50mph and fly off a dune and over a witches eye and into a bowl, the driver was flying through the air flopping around feet first. I knew he was going to be in bad shape... I hauled but down to him in my rail and when I stopped he was gasping real bad and panicking. I ran to him and my wife grabbed his hand. He hit legs first and he thought he had broke his back cause he couldn't move. One of my friends went to get a ranger while we stayed with him. After 5-10 mins he calmed down and it turned out he just had the air knocked out of him real bad. He was lucky. He told us the shadows made it look like it was just a big hill and he couldn't even see the witches eye or bowl. I took him back to his trailer in my rail and he was ok just sore. Everyone please be careful.

i have insurance and lock my toys at night. i will show them off to anyone that cares.. in seven years the only thing i have is lost is brain cells and a few younger years but they weren't stolen.
