  1. She is local to me, I used her to get a license plate for my golf cart. Very easy to work with and a smooth transaction. She goes to a dealers/vendor DMV office not a public one. This was about 8 years ago. Not sure if she is still around.
  2. Hell no, LOL. this body is made for driving. This was my 4th year driving the support vehicle behind the runners. I keep telling myself, 1 year I will run a leg in this race. The shortest leg is just over 4 miles, the longest is over 11 miles. It fun to do this and I look forward to it each year.
  3. I did this event, looks like I was already passed by the time you set up. We started at 9am and probably went through Dumont around 10:00 - 10:30 ish. Our vehicle was #215
  4. I took this when he was down here looking at the prototype walls last year.
  5. I did a quick youtube search and found this- This might be your culprit.
  6. You don't need new parts to diagnose this. you have 1 bad cylinder- so move a plug wire from another cylinder to the #3 position and put #3 where you took that wire from. If the problem moves away from #3 to another hole- BINGO! Remember this- Keep it simple, Start in one direction and and work forward/backwards. Don't jump around or you might miss the problem. Sounds like the Fuel system is ok, work on the electric side. Check the cap/rotor, if thats good, move to the wires. If they are good, go to the plugs. Throw in a new set just for added cheap security. VW's are such a simple motor, I have rebuilt them in my bedroom when I lived at home. Picked the damn thing up out of my 63 and walked it into the house. LOL And as Stormin189 said- #3 is a culprit for less air flow. My sand rail had major overkill for my oil system. Deep Sump + stock oil cooler and a 96 plate cooler with oil filter inline. I had over 6 quarts of oil in my motor.
  7. Is the exhaust tube on that cylinder hot to the touch? Pull the plug and rest it on the exhaust and see if it is indeed getting spark all the way to the plug. Is fuel getting to the cylinder. Accelerator pump working? Check the inside of the cap for carbon tracks or cracks. With the motor running, spray carb cleaner along the sides of the carb and see if the idle changes- if yes- you have a leak at a gasket. Swap plug wires and see if the dead cylinder changes. Clogged jets, suckers get clogged easily. Look into a velocity stack air meter- it is crucial in setting the jets and getting all 4 cylinders balanced. Just a few things I can think of that plagued me when I had my VW motor back in the day.

  10. What a great weekend. Definitely the best time to be had. Always great seeing good friends there and meeting new ones each year. The rides were fast and fun, had some mishaps but we managed to make sure no one was left behind and got mostly everyone back running the dunes. The Cars and Coffee was awesome! I have some drone footage I need to still download. The Saturday night Tacos and UFC was killer. 3rd year manning the grill for this and I always have a good time with my co-cook Carrie. Thanks to Pete and Anna for letting me crash in your place again. And to Chad for hooking us up with the Fights. Also- Thanks to Lee and Neil for also bringing their cameras and getting the great shots!

  12. Pete, I am bringing my generator to the roundup. You can give it a test drive to see if that model works for you. I love the remote start feature on it. It has the RV plug on it as well.

  15. Electric Power steering is so nice. Can't believe I drove my car for about 8 years without it.
  16. Primarily Saturday all day through Dumont area. I think the fast runners begin at like 4pm. The starting line is 27 miles up the 127 from Baker. Our group has a 9am start time.
  17. It's that time of year again. Baker to Vegas is this weekend. First wave starts running at 8am and will go on all day. The 127 will be all jammed up with runners and support vehicle/motorcycles.

  20. I am venturing out into the photo booth world to go along with my regular photography. This booth is nothing like I have seen before and it is really cool and fun. So far it has been a big hit at the 2 parties I have taken it to. I need to get a website and some business cards made. But I cant think of a clever name. So I am offering up a cool thank you package with things from my work to the one that comes up with a cool name and that hasn't already been taken.   21. Transmission is out getting redone, new ring and pinion as well as 3rd and 4th. Trying to get the ratios better to get out of my usual 2nd and 3rd gear dune rides. Clutch is at Kennedy to check all the components and fix a couple bad teeth on the ring gear. Car and trailer are an absolute mess right now. But hey- I have only been lagging on this for 6+ months right?
  22. Going to need a lot of post editing to get those tracks out of the sand.
