  1. It's happened for years now: The last day of the last trip, last walk around checking the RV before we head home,, knowing it'll be quite some time untill Dune season is back, and thoughts of the year pass through my pea size brain: New Years, Thanksgiving,, school breaks, the kids both getting new quads, the wife getting a new quad,, the fun, sadly too,, the accidents,,, All these thoughts pass through, and Dumont seems even a more special place than ever. Start to appreciate it more, and miss it more and respect it more I guess.
  2. Thanks everyone for the kind words and thoughts.
  3. Most the broken tank brackets and pipes on our rig seem to happen after driving on the entrance rd. Speed seem to be of no help. Glad to see improvement of any kind.
  4. It's been the best year of my life. I wouldn't change a thing about you. Your grace, patience, devotion and love has brought out the best in all of us.
  5. I was wondering the same thing. I think there are fewer, but with lots more 4 strokes out there seems like ya rarely see a Banshee anymore. They are a legend, but go fast money on a 2 stroke these days is a questionable investment.
  6. When DDR first went online we offered to help with the costs but Pete said it was cool, he was handling it ok. But we still would help with the costs here, it's a good site. I can see helping with $$ if he needs it, nothing is free, but a pay to play site takes away the character. Everyone has done a really good job running this site, DDR hasn't formed cliq's or mobs and it was really teriffic to see how many DDR's showed up in Barstow for the meeting with the BLM. I can name several once good web forums that de-generated from their orig premise into pay for porn which is usually the direction they go when they hit ya with fees. The first loss is all the girls leave through the closest exit and never come back, and only the creeps and idiots are left.
  7. Walking through the backyard and suddenly come across a coil'd rattlesnake and it strikes. Can't seem to get used to it.
  8. It's crazy. NFW would they ever get a dime from me. Most of the big builders, and hard workers in the keeping the dunes open circles rarely, if ever post or go into GD.com.
  9. We're going to buy a rhino,, we're waiting for the next generation to be out. Kawai mule sport is gonna be a v twin with FI, so when the next generation dust settles on all the lines we'll be buying one too. They are pure fun at the river.
  10. I got a few E mails from friends that sell golfcarts. They old me the COSTCOs are now the way to go, it's all they'll use. Trojans are $120 now, and not all that much more longetivity, if any. So,, changing 6 golfcart batts are a days work. Cleaning up the batt rack, re-painting it,, some wires need work,, takes a spell. So first day at the river and the COSTCOS are excellent. I reccomend changing all the cables ($14). Runs fantantastic.
  11. It's in Simi. I'll drive by there again today and if the cops are still at it I'll try and get a pic or two,, descretely. Kinda neat when the cops run the thiefs car into the curb. Cops said if the chick has her purse in view when she walks into the gym, the thieves leave her car alone. One of the chix was a police "plant".
  12. I dropped off the wife a the doctors for some surgery, and had a few hours to kill before I'd return to pick her up. I sat down at Chuys, and ordered a beer and looked out the window towards Golds Gym. Lots of nice looking women walking in and outta the gym. Then a guy jumped outta his Lexus, and guickly and very quietly smashed several cars windows, and stuck his whole body in through the broken window, and grab'd purses. One car he hit the trunk release when he found no purse inside and grabbed the chix purse outta the trunk. This whole episode was less than a minute. I mentioned it to the owner of Chuys and I started to call the cops, but the owner said wait a second, the lot is being watched by the cops,, and as the guy drove off in his Lexus,, the cops ran him into a curb, pulled him out and hooked him up. The owner of Chuys told me when girls go into the gym, they leave their purses in the car. He said in an hour or two, another thief will be along to do the same thing. It's become an epidemic here.
  13. I need 6 for the golf cart. I realize Trojans are the best, but COSTCOs are half the price and available now. Anyone use them? - Thanks.
  14. Boat Trader online is where everyone seems to list. It's where we sell all our boats. That particular boat you like is a good one. We have several friends with them and they are nice,, lots of pep, good fuel burn, easy maint.
  15. When life hands ya lemons,, make lemonaid. Nice ride!!! You'll love it.
  16. We belong to Emerald Cove in Parker and Quad up to Kennies several time a year. If anyone would like to join us shoot us a PM.
  17. I had heard for some time about a guy that found some private property in the middle of the Arizona desert, bought it and built a cool bar for off roaders and the local Prospectors. The decision was made to find it. Stopped off at a bar in Lake Havasu Az., and sitting at the end of the bar was a very old jasper drinking a beer watching the tube. I asked him he he knew of such a bar. "Oh,, you mean Kennies" the old buzzard said. He gave me directions: " Az 95 south, left at Cienega Springs rd keep to the right but take all the lefts", he told me. I just met my girlfriend, now my loving wife, and she barely knew me, but off we went. Ya gotta look real hard in the middle of the desert to find Cienega Springs rd. We found it, and it was a dirt cut-off, unimproved until recently. We 4 wheel drive'd the rest of the way for at least 30 minutes. The girlfriend, now wife, thought I was taking her someplace to "do her" she later confessed. We were at the nowhere everything is a million miles from. We finally came to a sandstone wall of a hill, with a maybe 10 ft wide 20 degree angle ramp carved into it. We made it up ok,, and there it was, Kennys Bar in the desert. We parked among Dune Buggies and other off road vehicles, and crossed a nicely built home made bridge to the entrance to Kennys bar. In front of the entrance door was a water trough and a Coyote was drinking outta it,, but nervous and ready to run,,, Greeted by Nellie the straight razor totin' cat as we walked into the bar itself: Electricity is solar 12 volt, & Kenny has ice delivered, and an 'A" health dept rating. Two large sheet metal shafts rise into the sky that are natural draft swamp coolers to keep his place cool on the hot days. Work excellent. Several girls were sitting at the bar, their boyfriends all asked them to get married & gave them Diamond rings the same day at the same time, so the girls were up at Kennies celebrating,, and the place was alive with fun and energy. Kenny was bartending with his girlfriend, and they had their hands full, but had time to chat too. Kenny is affiable and friendly, but ya look into his eyes and someone is in there with him. We had a few drinks and met some really interesting people and local characters with yarns to spin. Kenny built the place outta wood, and his craftsmanship is supurb. Clean, good restrooms with running water too. Nice views across the Arizona desert from Kennys. A custom Hughes 500 helicopter landed, but before gave us a really cool airshow. Scared the hell outa everyone it was so good. If ya find yourself in the Lake Havasu area with some extra time, perhaps check out Kennys. Open Labor Day thru Memorial Day, Sat and Sundays noon to dusk.
  18. Lemon Law. Do a search for lawyers in your area and they'll tell ya for free how to handle it. It covers trailers. It works, our family turned in 3 POS new Mustangs last year.
  19. Our fearless 7 year old just reached the minimum height to ride the coasters of Las Vegas. So off on tour #2. We rolled in after an all nite roadtrip. Wife works in intensive specialty cancer treatment and is used to being up all nite with her patients,, so I had some awake company along for the ride. 'Vegas was a full house with folks from all over here for the big Monster truck show we're told. Witnessed one family blow a red lite with a surburban full of kids and get sandwitched by two vehicles. All her airbags deployed and everyone in all vehicles were ok. Just a few bells rung deluxe. We always stop and render aid when tragedy strikes. Good thing we noticed were the airbags stayed deployed while the suburban stay'd in motion absorbing secondary and third impacts. The inside of the suburban turned white with airbags. Looked bizarre but worked as designed. She's going to "order another" she said. She'll have to, this new one won't buff out that's for sure. Day one at the Circus Circus adventure dome was OK. Not too crowded. Ya get $4 off coupons on check-in, so the cost per kid was $18 for an all day (10 AM to Midnite ) pass. The entire Circus Circus property has been cleaned up, and easier on the eyes colors have replaced the Gaudi hot pinks. Every place we went the staff much nicer than in the past. The kids rated the Canyon Blaster Coaster B+, a bit ruff on their melons, but a good fun ride. Won $120 at Dice. The funny thing was I kept giving the dealers $1 side bets (as a tip) on the hard ways and they kept hitting. The dealers made an easy $150 tip off maybe 10 dollars bet for them. "You guys are class people" we're told.- Oh brother. Lance Burton show last nite. A good show. If ya take kids, make sure to get them amp'd up & ready to run on stage when he asks for volunteers kids. He asks for 5, but always 10 or 12 run up there,, so make sure yours do too. He gets them all involved in a trick, and you can pick up pix of them on the way out. The Sahara has an out-and-back kinda ride for a coaster. The kids loved it, but like everyone else remarked, wished it was a longer ride. If you're a NASCAR fan Sahara is a fun place to hang out. New York New Yorks Coney Island Coaster is excellent, but the kids said a very rough ride, and it was $12 a ride. The arcade had indifferent employees, almost half the games broken. Gameworks is far better IMHO. Visited wifes very ill dad, and the inheritances are starting to come in. Modest stuff like tools, collections, ect, but a good size amount of historical stuff & orig documents that certifiably belong'd to the assassin of a loved and famous American. (The assassin was no relation to us BTW). We'll probably contact a museum dedicated to the victim and see if they are interested in all if it as a free donation. I'm sure they will be, if not, eBay. OK,, enough of that,, onto Stateline,, Final Leg of the Roller Coaster tour took us too Buffalo Bills Hotel and Casino in Primm Nevada, AKA Stateline. Right off the I 15. Thirty bucks per kid for an all day, unlimited use of all the rides and attractions at Buffalo Bills: A water Flume ride, some motion theaters, and the really cool Desperado Roller Coaster. Alice was super tired, and slept in the RV while I took all the kids in to the ride area. I watched NASCAR and played a little Video poker just near the entrance to the food court/ride area. Our older kids are responsible to accompany the younger ones. We all carry cell phones, and we keep in touch constantly. We figured a couple hours, but five and a half hours later the kids were still riding the coaster and all the other rides. No lines, no wait so that's a lot of coastering!!! Always enquire what rides are operating before ya make the decision to buy the tickets. If the coaster isn't running due to wind or weather,,, and they give ya the line they don't know when it might open, expect it to be closed for the entire day and nite. If it ain't open,, it ain't gonna open. No rain chex, no discounts,, no nothin'. Just our experiences from the past. The buffet at Buffalo Bills is pretty good, and about 12 bucks for lunch,, a few bucks more for dinner. Our Nevada rule of Buffets: Dinner: A $8.00 buffet is in-edible, not worth 2 bux A $15.00 buffet is worth $20 A $22 dollar buffet is worth $30. A $50 dollar buffet is worth $100. Damfino why, but I always expect a seedy crowd of customers at Buffalo Bills, but never see that. The way my pea brain works I guess. Usually a pretty reasonable bunch of gamblers, no trouble, usually a fun atmosphere. Live, mid-day entertainment from the center bar, really good $2.50 hot dogs at all the bars (free with the fun book coupon BTW). Won $48 on the video poker, and a few bucks more on Dice. Did the place-a-bet-for-a-tip dealio for the dealers again and they came out a few bucks ahead too. We never win gambling,, I can't recall a winning trip,, but this time we made a little gas money. Alice awoke, came into the casino, had a $2.50 hot dog and won $43 on video poker, rounded up the kids,,, and it was home in about 5 hours.
  20. We use Hog Heaven at our Hells Angels Swapmeets and poker runs and they have always been excellent. Never any complaints.
  21. The Funnel cake lady is cool, and her prices are reasonable, and the funnel cakes are real,, not frozen. Taste excellent. She sells hot dogs and other things too. All pretty good for the money. Ya have to keep reminding her and her husband over and over what ya ordered and the way ya ordered it, and how much ya ordered,, not because they don't care, but they are along in their years and are slow to remember, and their is a language barrier (we think they're Swedish), so hold that thought. Never had a problem with any vendors.
  22. Rode it for a short time in the dirt. Nice running quad. I was surprised at the excellent ride. The aluminum box frame looks excellent. It won't be long until we see someone that buffs and polishes their frame up like chrome. Welds look like a stack of dimes, excellent. Daisy cut disc brake looks cool too. The whole quad looks really nice. Easy thumb throttle, quick response for stock, started with no sweat. Feels a bit lighter handling and less vibration than my YFZ. The brakes are noticably better than my '04 YFZ, but the newer YFZ's have better/improved brakes too, so that's a mute point. Takes from my local dealer: Of all the 2 wheeler Kawi 450's brought back for the 10 hr service, none needed valve adjustments, and no engine demons either. This is the same engine on the quad. Wife told me to buy one for myself, but I wanna wait until winter and see what the new YFZ offers, and the price should calm down too. Aftermarket Kawi performance stuff is always really slow to hit the shelves too. Dealer was asking full MSRP.
  23. We're moving the whole operation to Parker for the summer. Got the boat out, PM'd it, wakeboards and big tube ready, good to go.
