  1. Changing the Oil in the YFZ's and the manuals are in the transition storage of the new wife moving in. Anyone remember or know how much oil in the sump, and how much goes in the crank? Thanks, appreciate the help. Like to stick to the book. - Ross
  2. I'm no expert on anything, but of all the places I've hung out at all over the world,, no place has more tricky and unpredictable winds than Dumont. Hence the crazy shaped, razor filled, gigantic, tribal pattern dunes. Not sure I would ever want to be in a flimsy aircraft there. I've been sitting in camp, then a sonic boom of a windstorm hits. Brutal, knocked out the Big Thermometer in Baker, blew out windshields,,,, lots of respect from this kid on the Dumont winds. Fly a kite sure, sit on a kite aloft,, ummmm,,,, maybe not.
  3. We use the $89 Kragan duel weinie special. I added a nice gauge type fill nozzle to it with disconnects and the curley type hose available rite there at Kragan. Works teriffic for the big fill jobs. The 2000iu type Honda generator handels it fine. We also have the smaller $29 1 gal. tank type for general all around use.
  4. The engine/trans has several major trouble points that will grenade it. If it doesn't have the modifications to prevent this, ya may want to think that over. ATK had a program for I think $1500, don't hold me to the cost, but I think thats close. It's where you could send them the motor and they'd do the modifications to prevent the grenading problem, and send it back. Grenading is the term THEY use. When it grenades your are boned deluxe. It's a mess. I've seen them out there, they run good. I used to smoke them on a jetted Raptor though, so they weren't the second coming like so may claimed. Yfz's own them. The beauty of rideing a very common ATV or MC is that if you get a tricky difficult problem, someone else probably did too and figured out a solution. The rare machines out there like the cannondale/atk don't seem to have the rider pool that figures out all the demons. I know new Triumph street bike owners that have all kinds of headaches that the dealers and the smallpool of riders can't figure out. Just my 2 cents worth of why we bought the YFZs instead of the Cannondale in the first place. Safety in numbers.
  5. It's the same as the new ATK quad. ATK bought the rites to it outta Cannondales bankruptcy. They had engine grenading problems,, the ATK website used to have info on that issue, and an engine improvement program qoing. I checked them out at one time and they were pricey, and then the engine issue. Here it is: http://www.atkusa.com/Products450Quads.aspx
  6. I replaced both the plastic plugs in our YFZ,, and it's just a matter of time when they pop out again. Where does one get the cool metal held-in-by-a-scew-type? -Thanks
  7. We camp just above the Entrance rd pass/ticket machines or whatever ya call them, OR: about 600 yds south with the DSD groupo, also no problem with getting stuck. Both locations outside of the dust belt. 100% Drug free group. Why people camp in all the dust is beyond us pehaps the party atmosphere, damfino, ,, but it's nice being outta it, more power to them. It's hard pack all the way to our site(s), perfect for little ones to ride too. A U turn at the top of the entrance rd, and straight to us. We'll be there Fri Afternoon, thru Sunday. One of the few, very rare green flashing strobes. (so never hesitate to ask for help if you get stuck) You're welcome to join us, I have a very quiet generator, and am an insomniac and am up most the nite watching TV, and for thieves, so if that's an issue,,, Kids will be trick or treating Sat nite on quads, wind permitting.
  8. How did they measure hail before the game of golf was invented.
  9. I thought it fake from the start,, why is someone taping a shopworn, raggity a$$ coin op carwash??? And the people gasping. But it's a cool video ya gotta admit. One of the girls here at work pee'd her pants.
  10. I thought it was fake from the first view. But a really good fake ya gotta admit.
  11. http://media1.davesdaily.com/videoclips/vi...ets-crushed.wmv Death comes on wings. Beware, very graphic!!
  12. Box Anchor w/rhino? Works great at the river holding our boat in the current / sandy bottom Waddya think?
  13. That's the very situation I'm talking about. Glamis type situations where you're a million bowls from camp. Do you think a Rhino with a winch and lots of rope woulda worked? Thinking of setting up a Rhino for retriever duty to handle the task like you mention. Have the rhino parked up on top the bowl, stationary, then fully extend the winch cable down into the bowl to the quad below,, then make up the rest of the distance to the quad with rope. The use the winch to pull the quad up. Waddya think?
  14. No substitute for a good automotive/boat/buggie electrician. Be a good one, get active on the boating sites as well, and with word of mouth, you can do well.
  15. Was wondering how you bring back a broken down quad from way out in the dunes, beyond where your pick up can go? Will a Rhino tow it,, ya tow with another quad?? How do you handle it?
  16. Anyplaces taking pre-orders on the PS3 yet??? Any waiting lists???
  17. Living under the same roof with my new wife for over a year now and when she gives me a certain quick look, and gripes about the garden hose in front of the house looking outta place,,, I know her Angry Aunt from Red China is about to visit. She never complains about anything. "No,, it's not due yet" she insists,, she then looks at the calendar and wonders how I know. I tell her the day it will be here, just by her mild mood swing. Haven't missed it yet. called it 100% on time. I tell her to bring supplies on our dune trip for her Angry Aunt too. My first wife was impossible to be around for a week when her curse visited. Alice is a compassionate sweetheart, the trick is to keep my trap shut,, and it all passes.
  18. Just wear nice cloths and be Jehovahs Witnesses. It can be funny after awhile if you're persistant and keep knocking on everyones office door. If you have steel toe shoes, stick your foot out don't let anyone close their door. Do it again at the dunes, and don't let dunefreak close his RV door, and keep knocking.
  19. "Go to Stater Bros and watch the meat counter for a while; you'll see immigrant families buying the best meats, with no problem dropping $50 for a few good cuts of meat. On the other hand, you see the white guy trolling for a good price on round steak (does putting it thru the meat tenderizer costs more, he asks?). Ever been to Ports O Call/San Pedro or the better food courts in shopping centers and seen how people eat? Again, Immigrant, or lower income families have a platter filled with shrimp, crabs and good beer. Then you see the same white family with a chili dog, maybe a churro, a super tanker for the family, and maybe, just maybe a Corona. My point? No point, just an observation. I guess people place different values on food." Quote from CB At the dunes in our RV, We prepair some pretty good meals. The other white duner families with us live for a week on a 50 Count pkg of hot dogs and the 100 count Costco tacquitos, no gucamole dip either. That big, nice kitchen in their RV's and they nuke Ball Park franks everyday, maybe grill them. Bon Appetite'! And they make good money, it's not a budget issue there. Enjoy!!! Our Phillipino and Mexican duning friends all have roasts, marinated chicken, egg rolls, seasoned beef fresh baked pirogis with stir fry ect,, Much more fun eating in the RV with a little thought, not a lot of money, and hardly a little time. Ya finally got the family together in one spot,, not heading out to school, soccer, friends house, the ex's, ect. Pull out all the stops and make some simple but good meals. It isn't that hard, it aint that costly either. __________________
  20. Same here, crack and meth heads. I can spot one within 30 seconds of talking to one. They all pull over $160K per year and are broke all the time.

We have a really nice kitchen in our RV and we use it.
