  1. So sad. There are some NASTY razors out there this year, although the top of Comp is nothing new. RIP fellow duner.
  2. This is why you have to pay careful attention when you crank down on your lug nuts. When you put the tapered side towards the rim, you get permanently-mounted tires. Oopsy. Now I've learned to switch tires before the 3rd margarita... I've had these for a while, used them lightly for a couple of seasons then got sick of switching hubs to ride dirt. Been sitting in my garage ever since, about three-four years now. They're Kenda Sand Geckos, 21-11x10 on ITP rims. The hubs are OEM Suzuki Z400. If you can get the studs out of the holes without destroying the rims, the bolt pattern on the rims is 4x110. First $50 takes 'em. - Dave, 805/558-8026 or PM. Simi Valley area.
  3. Older setup but still serviceable. Welded shank (non-adjustable). 2-5/16" ball. First $100 takes it, Simi Valley area. Dave, 805/558-8026 or PM
  4. We're headed out Friday am... the dunes should be nice and groomed.
  5. I use my friend's buggies... I keep a strap, flashlight, and a few odd & ends in the wing trunk. I'd like to bolt-in an ammo can somewhere, someday.
  6. You ever make it out to LA? I've got a 300sf kitchen/DR tile job I could use a hand on. Probably about 4-6 weeks out if you're interested.
  7. IIRC you need a class-A non-commercial license to tow a 5er over 10k, or a double. That's as a Ca resident; not sure what the law would be for an Nv resident in Ca.
  8. I wouldn't know, I work nights But yeah, that'd be my advice too. That's really the only downside to Malibu, there's no good alternate route. For breakfast: The Original Pantry, 9th and Fig... walking distance from the Convention Center. Get there early, avoid the line. There's also a lot of good little hole-in-the-wall lunch places on Fig down by USC.
  9. Griffith Park is day-use only, there's no overnight RV access. You can bushwhack in LA if you want, but I wouldn't leave a trailer I cared about parked unattended for too long... like more than about 30 seconds. With all the RVing homeless around, residents are very sensitive to that. You could put a shout-out on Craigslist, there might be somebody centrally located that would rent out a driveway or side yard for a couple weeks. RV parks are a better option IMHO. Here's a couple within reasonable driving distance: Dockweiler Beach (LA County Parks) Malibu Beach RV Park Either would be about 30-40 minutes driving time from downtown (depending on traffic) and are in nice areas. Dockweiler is adjacent to LAX if that's a consideration, and also has more in the way of nearby food/groceries/whatever. There's also more options for your commute to avoid traffic. Malibu is, well, Malibu... one way in, one way out, but God it's pretty. There's really nothing any closer that I would recommend without 24-hour armed guards. Full disclosure: I'm an LA-based news photographer, been working in the city for 15 years.
  10. What campground are you booked at now?

  12. The stock silencers are almost always very restricive. High exhaust backpressure means less fresh air/fuel mix in the chamber on each stroke. Changing to an aftermarket pipe helps the exhaust scavenge the spent gases more effectively. More air/fuel = more power. That's why you'll need to rejet when you install a new silencer.
  13. We're headed out the week after Easter... Wed thru Sat is the goal. Should have the place pretty much to ourselves
  14. Check out this one: http://www.glamisdunes.com/invision/index.php?showtopic=232846&hl= The frame and tranny are in excellent shape, but the engine might be toast. I think there's more than a bit of wiggle room on the price.
  15. Mmmmmmm... maybe , but I think that gives too much credit to the politicians. I think they just like big shiny things. You know, like a parrot, but with less intelligence. Exactly. There's little to no money in passenger rail. The lone exception is that Northeast corridor, basically DC to NY with the cities in between. Passenger trains are a pleasant diversion... not a viable solution for intercity travel. Not in the West anyway.
  16. I've never understood politicians' woodies for high-speed rail, ESPECIALLY in SoCal. It makes sense in the Northeast, where you already have a high number of rail commuters, and a traditional hub-and-spoke layout for the commute. But Southern California doesn't have that kind of centralized focus for commuters. Look at any freeway in LA at rush hour, it's likely you'll see equally high volumes of traffic heading in each direction. Central LA alone has four distinct high-rise districts along the Wilshire corridor, and that's not including Century City. Plus, Vegas to Victorville? Seriously? :wtf: That makes even less sense than LA to Sacramento. The only peeps who'd ride a LA-to-Sacto route would be the politicians and lobbyists who got the damn thing built in the first place. It'd be just another boondoggle like the Metro Green Line, which was supposed to go to LAX but the taxi drivers and bus companies bitched that they'd lose business. Net effect: The "LAX" stop is almost three miles (!) away.
  17. Handcent SMS for text/MMS. Advanced Task Killer. Missed Reminder for missed calls, texts, etc. Apps 2 SD to free up memory on the phone. ThinkFree Office for Word and Excel files. Google News & Weather. I'll have to try the WF & Clock widget, I'm using the AccuWeather one and it's glitchy.
  18. Insert "Mr. Crowley" riff here. Very cool. Keep up the good work!
  19. Interesting. The court's ruling was, in effect, that since TWS and the other groups weren't directly affected by the situation, they had no legal standing to sue. That could be a line of attack to reopen closures at Glamis and other places.
