  1. What's up with that SandPig of yours Nick? I've got everything a man could possibly need for one of them! Six of them in the garage so I could always pull a part for you...

Sounds like a fun trip for all involved. Had entertained thoughts of making it up but had to take the daughter to Pat Benatar last night. Priorities!!!

  2. Here is a Blow by blow account of the fight!. I did the JV tour with the OHV Commission the day before the Ontario meeting and I can tell you that they were very impressed with what they saw. Not just the terrain but the condition of it all after being used heavily by tens of thousands of enthusists during the winter months. The OHV Code Enforcement were from all over as were the BLM Rangers. Places like Hungry Valley, Pismo Beach, Dove Springs, Ocotillo Wells, Superstition, Dumont, etc... The great majority had never been to Johnson Valley and stated that the users respected it much more than the areas that are in their charge. Might have seen three or four water bottles on the 5 1/2 hours that I was on the tour.

Want to give a shout out to the rock crawler folks. Not my cup of tea, it looks expensive!, but they are some hard core dudes. On of the crawlers with the Commissioner in it rolled over on it's side and the rest of the group flipped them back over and off they went like it was all too normal! Five point harnesses are a good thing. There were probably a dozen crawlers, a few jeeps, a rail, an a$$load of white Government vehicles, and a lone DS650, wonder who that crazy a$$ was!?!

Anyway, saw a lot of territory that I had never ventured near before but captured it all on the GPS and will definitely be breaking in a RZR XP out there. I don't know how many DDR peeps have attended any of these meetings but from the amount a cain being raised on the internet you would think that there would be much more attendance at them than there actually is. Hopefully many many more have sent in letters then what showed up to voice an opinion.

    Ride there while you can.

  3. Heading up to Kings Canyon, Sequoia, and Yosemite National Parks. Daughter moved up to Visalia for a teaching gig last summer and of course got the pink slip a couple of weeks ago. Gotta love the California education system, but this will get her mind off of it for a few days.

And of course watch about 1100 miles of some 200+ mph racin' on Sunday.

You guys be safe whatever you choose to do, and don't forget THE REASON that we celebrate this day of remembrance. Too many folks think it's all about the BBQ and the beer. There is a reason that we are able to enjoy the freedoms and liberties that we have.

  4. Looks like one of Curtis' builds. Very nice indeed. If I didn't already have six DS's in the garage and being in the market for a RZR XP 900 I would definitely try and convince the wife that I needed this DS. Those Busa DS's get around St. Anthony like none other.

    Good luck with the sale.

  5. Was the crash between you and your son or where there others involved?

I was several bike lengths behind him as we were going to do the whole top of Comp from the far right side across and down to where it tapers into the finger dunes. We made sure the hill was clear before we took off. As we cleared the section where most people race up and turn to the left to come down a RZR-4 came over the top, had him cleared with no problem but then a DS popped over the top behind him. At 65mph my son tried like hell to avoid the collision. Had the wheels cranked as hard to the left as he could without rolling it over and did a powerslide broadside into the other DS. The other DS was from our camp and a good friend of mine. All is well between the bunch of us.

If you've ever seen Indy racers get their wheels in between one another well that's what happened. One of them goes airborne. The video from my sons GoPro is insane and like I said before makes you wonder how nobody left in a meat wagon. I wonder if anyone happened to capture it from the bottom of Comp?

On the video from the point of impact until both riders stopped barrelrolling, cartwheeling, and flipping, took a total of 8 seconds. From the point of impact until the first Ranger arrived took 17 seconds. 17 SECONDS! They had to be sitting at the base of the hill. But outstanding response regardless. I think the Sheriff's Department sandrail made it to the scene before my boys DS stopped cartwheeling to the bottom. Again, outstanding job by everyone that can to help.

  6. I would like to send out a hella big thumbs up to the EMTs, Deputies, and Rangers, and also to the fellow duners who all arrived in the blink of an eye to render aid/assistance to some folks who collided at the top of Comp Saturday afternoon. A couple of bruised and battered duners and a totaled DS 730 and DS 770. The motors are salvageable and the bodies will heal but why the hell I ever let my son go to Comp on a holiday weekend I will never know. I knew better and worse yet I was right behind him.

I'm truely sorry that I didn't get any names in the heat of the moment but thank you very much to the duners that helped load up the quads and transport them back to camp. You guys were awesome.

I seriously hope that lessons learned from our experience is to look both directions before launching over the backside of Comp into the area where everyone is coming up and down, and to not use the top of Comp as your own personal Talladega on holiday weekends. There was no way to watch that crash and not think folks would be leaving in helicopters. I'm very glad that I didn't have to use my Reach Lifeflight insurance, but glad that I had the peace of mind of having should I need it.

GPS said 65 right before impact so another big thanks to any powers that be that may have kept more serious injuries or worse from occuring.

  7. Good luck. I'd get plenty of pics and info before driving that distance for something that age. The trip isn't bad, little bit of a rough patch about five miles into the Mojave National Preserve for about a mile or two. Rest of the road is good traveling.

  8. 127 to Baker, turns into Kelbaker Rd., to Amboy/National Trails Hiway, Amboy Rd. in to 29 Palms. You come out at Adobe Rd and probably need to go left from there as right takes you right to the main gate of the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center.

From 29 to Dumont is right at 3 hours so add your time from Pahrump to Dumont and you'll have a good estimate.

  9. Awesome vid as usual Alien. Can't wait to see the other one done with that rap from the NoMercyRacing crew! Hate that I couldn't make it up for this one, was good to see that old Coon a$$ and MrHorsepower out there in the sand. Anytime a DS wins a race other than Baja it leaves folks scratching their heads. And arse!

Good job Bombardier, NoMercyRacing, Oldham Machine Works. The competition looked fierce and you rose above.

  10. hey my friend sent it to me, and I just wanted to share it with you guys :peeps: , hey aceisback you have banshee?, because last year (president day) I saw no 4 stck that will beat the banshee's, we'll see this year can do about it :stirthepot: good luck

Nope, no Banshees, sorry. Only have four DS's, two 730's, a 720, and an old school 650. I don't race anyway, too old and it's too expensive, but I do some cheerleading for the Bombardier/CanAm guys and the NoMercyRacing crew as they are all a bunch of friends of mine.

Never seen any Banshees at any of the FourStrokeAssociation races at Glamis or Dumont so I can't say how they would compare in a non sandlot/grudge racing environment. All I know is that Bombardier is once again King of the Hill.

  11. hey look what I found, especially for you guys

    http://www.box.net/shared/y9uerntia1

Hey, don't be stealing stuff from over at NoMercy! That was written specifically for all of the haters that bag and rag on the DS650. Big old heavy pig some say, but I say look, what's that at the top of the hill?, oh just King of the Hill, on the mighty DS.

Still waiting on FSA to post the official results as nothing is on the site yet. And really waiting on MetalAlien to finish editing the video and get it posted up here and over at NMR. He always does an awesome job and I heard the turnout was really good considering how attendance had diminished with the economy.

  12. Dammit where's the updates??? Well they would be results by now I guess, being almost 8pm and all. I'm guessing all of the Yamaha and Honda folks are drowning their sorrows and the Bomb Squad has the Crown flowing by the buckets full.

Don't look up, Pigs can fly!

Let's see some video cause there will be some folks in total disbelief that the mighty DS can move like it does.

  13. Alright, who's supplying updates with photos and video? MetalAlien I know you're out there.

From some of the other sites it looks like Bombardier may be ready to reclaim some of it's past glory with some DS's of various displacement in attendance. Probably not King of the Hill just yet like in the past but with Sandbomber and MrHorsepower in attendance maybe we'll get back in the game. Just hard to give up 150+ pound weight difference to the Yammis and Hondas and not have hella horsepower strapped on to remain competitive.

Hopefully the place doesn't get trashed by onlookers like the past couple of FSA races. Wish I could've made it out, weather looks perfect, but I'm getting ready for four days down at Glamis this coming week.

  14. I dont know how to do all the dragging peoples comments into my comment! I have never talked "S" on the DDR forum but I am going to do it now! I helped with the letters from the south pole to our troops and have even started an adoptasolider letter program with my company! I tried to get people out to comp for clean up after a holiday weekend party, not just on clean up weekends and noone replied! It was always myself and "Mouthrulz" and a few other friends picking up everyones trash!!!!!!! I personally liked it better when NOONE knew about DD! When you had to crap at S$#$ tree, before the bathrooms, before vendors, before the ranger station and vendors or vendors row. We left Glamis for a reson!!Now I see a friend trying to help with up dates on the river and some smarta$$ has to make comments! FYI "svengoolie" mouthrulez is family and if you have something to say call me directly! I have no problem meetng you anywhere! One more thing , you must have been a bench warmer or you would have know a football field is 360' that would make the river a football field and a half less one endzone and 3.33 yards. Do you want me to break that down for you?

SVENGOOLIE send me a pm! I am working all week but will make arrangements to meet you at DD anytime to teach you math and football!

If you cant pm me, my number is 323-842-3985

    Signed,

One guy over website trash talkers!

Wow! SERIOUSLY??? Just got back in to Cali from Christmas vacation in Arkansas and read every post on this thread. I'm just not seeing it. Are you really that high strung? I'm thinking maybe the Marine Corps could use a few badasses like yourself. Being a Razorback I thought I knew a little bit about football but I thought the part about roids shriveling your junk and making you all violent and whatnot was just a fallacy. Thanks for enlightening me that it is in fact true.

Pretty insane post for a DDR rookie. Maybe this place isn't for you, need a little thick skin to play in these parts.

Thanks though for supporting our troops.

  15. Thanks to eMpTV it's all about the gimmick and talent is no longer a requirement. Man I miss the AOR days when bands put out albums with six or seven decent songs on them and radio would actually play them all. Then the 80's came rolling in and if you had one hit that is all that American radio would play until you were sick of it, then on to the next album. It's amazing to go overseas and see the difference between American rock radio compared to the rest of the world.

I'll throw a couple out for an example as most folks on here are too young to know or understand what I'm talking about. Thin Lizzy and UFO, by far two of the best bands ever of any genre. To the casual rock fan you would think they each only had a hit or two and in America they were lucky to sell out 5-7000 seat arenas. In Europe, Japan, and elsewhere they headlined festivals with upwards of 80-100,000 fans.

And as a prime example with a band that probably most on here have atleast heard of: Iron Maiden. I attended their show at Glen Helen in June which was their largest crowd EVER in America at 50,000+. This same band for years has been playing EU, Asia, South America and everywhere in between to crowds on most occasions of 100,000+ and even had a gig in Rio with 300,000+. That's over a quarter of a Million fans kiddies! All from a band that you NEVER hear on American rock radio. But overseas, where good music is appreciated as opposed to a good gimmick, you can hear them all day long.

    Up the Irons \m/
