  1. Heading out at zero dark thirty in the morning. Should be at Wash 14 around 9AM and China Wall around 930. Can always get camp set up after some ripping and tearing. You folks ride safe up there at The D and I'll try and do the same down at Mother G. See ya'll at the clean up and 4SW...

  2. C'mon Big Al, you've got a whole herd of hungry hungry hippos needing you to pull through this tough time of your life. Thoughts and prayers for you and your family from the bunch of us.

    Get well soon.

  3. USA Jobs. Lots of government stuff out there believe it or not. And once your foot is in the door it is a good gig. Starting out young would benifit you greatly in the long run. Some of us got a real late start in it but it ain't bad at all.

  4. Seems to be lots of us "older/wiser" types on here! My trick was to be patient and save, the lack of pay in the Marines taught me that. Got to go lots of cool places but to really see them I had to set aside funds to be able to enjoy them. Did a few years of duning with an F-150, utility trailer, and tent. After doing some saving I picked up a four year old F-350 PSD, four year old Thor Wanderer Wagon, and was able to never look back on the old tent days. Although they are some very fond memories. Just the older I get the more I enjoy having a warm bed, or cool, a hot shower, my own non-graffiti'd shitter, and a kitchen.

Have owned nine DS 650's over the years and still have five, two Polaris Trailblazers, a Suzuki RM80, a Honda CRF150, and have purchased and ownded all of those along with the hauler and PSD without a penny of interest. Have to be willing to be budget conscious and not eat out four times a week or run out to see the newest release. Prioritize and don't finance. Own your own stuff, don't let the bank do it. I know very few people that finance toys, seems to be a younger generation thing. If you can't pay cash you shouldn't have it. Not speaking of your primary residence of course, but by all means if you can paycash for your home, do so.

  5. Merry Christmas to all. Heading down to Ocotillo Wells here in a minute for a couple of days of surface of the moon riding and then it's off to Glamis for the changing of the years.

    Be safe everyone.

  6. I have had the above pump for over 10 years now.I bought it at HF.It pumps a 5 gallon can in about 20-30 seconds but you can spin it slower to get fuel slower than that.

Hey Bert, did you have to disassemble, clean, and lube it periodically to get it to last that long? I know preventative and routine maintenance go a long way in making things last but the lever type one that I showed is not made well.

I think I will give the one you and Pete have a shot and just hope it last longer than the other one. If not I'll go electric in the future. Still open to other options and I failed to mention in the first post that I use the caddy for AVgas. This may have contributed to the short life but I really don't think so as I did maintain it properly.

  7. Just wondering what type of pump you guys are using to get fuel from the back of the truck and into the toys? I've got a 28GL Todd Caddy and picked up a hand pump from Harbor Freight. Doesn't really perform as would be expected and used to get fuel everywhere until it just quit working altogether. It's was the lever type and not of good quality to begin with. The caddy has the normal bung type fitting on the top so a barrel/drum pump is what I'm looking for suggestions on. Maybe even converting to a small electric pump without having to do any mods to the caddy itself.

Anybody else have one of these or have just used some inginuity to come up with a clean and efficient way to get fuel from a larger tank into an ATV tank??? Doesn't have to flow a million gallons a minute, just two or three gallons in a reasonable amount of time.

Oh yeah, and on a tight budget! lol

Thanks for any input/suggestions that you might have. Pics would be outstanding.

  8. Thanks Terry, just the info I was looking for. I would imagine that there are quite a few former mine workers with the experience that they are looking for and that are without jobs right now. It just seems as you said that there would be more of a notification process as to why an app wasn't accepted. Having read up on the project and the use of heavy metals increasing world wide as it is that they would hire some new blood. I mean why do they have an Operator Trainee position if they are not willing to train??? Doesn't seem that the Trainee would need 1-3 years prior experience.

And having to wait six months to reapply seems long. Don't know though, haven't been in the job hunt for awhile.

Good luck to thos who have had their app accepted. Sounds like a good gig. Hopefully down the line the will put some fresh meat in there because I know some young studs who are looking for some work and have every opportunity to fit in in a place like Molycorp.

  9. Has anyone gotten any play from putting in any application with Molycorp yet? Spoke with Bruce several times and he was quite helpful, but I know three guys that attempted to apply and two of them got a message stating that they were not qualified and to try again in six months. The disqualifying question was do you have a valid drivers license and they answered yes. Seems they would prefer guys with a valid license and clean driving record! The system stopped the process at that point. Called HR in Colorado and was given the name and number for the project HR person. Spoke with her and she said there was no glitch in the system. Really?

My son did make it through the complete application but got a disqualifying message. Not sure for what as they were all applying for an Operator Trainee position. No mail, phone calls, or e-mails stating what may have been factors in the decision so not sure what all is still happening with the project.

Anybody else have any luck, good or bad, with the app process?

    Thanks

  10. I wonder it they can do this for puppies??? I think I will call them after Thaksgiving.

If you navigate the entire site via the tabs you will find that puppies do not have the proper bone structure to become bonsai puppies. C'mon folks, all the information that you need is on their site. Reading through the guestbook will answer ALL of your questions.

  11. Damn! I hope that young man had REACH insurance. Best $25 a person can spend. Had a buddy lifeflighted out of the wash area at Glamis to San Diego after crushing some vertebrea in a mishap with a kiddie track. Got home four days later with the $36,000 statement already waiting on him. Big difference between 25 dollars and 36 thousand dollars.

Glad the quad rider wasn't another second or so up the hill or he would've taken a head or chest shot vice the one to the leg and then I don't think we would have been watching this video.

    Ride safe, and straight.

  12. ok i had 2 calls to day but befor i called back my phone messed up or i did and i lost the numbers to call you back so if you could call me agian iam at work from 7am to 530 pm so call and leave me you number sorry

I called Sunday at 11:18 AM. Will do so again. Thanks

  13. You would think that with all of the fuss about the Wildcat that someone on here would have mentioned who all had them there and what kinds of goodies they had to strap on to them. Looks to be a bad arse machine, guess we'll see...

  14. I'm really gonna try and make this since it's on a Saturday but I'll be seeing Tesla the night before and then Godsmack/Disturbed/Testament/All Shall Perish/Dethklok and everybody else that's on Mayhem Festival that same day. Might be a stretch for an old man! Would like to do my part and participate and have a voice. And just stay on top of what's happening with our dunes.

I did do the tour when they showed BLM and OHV Code Enforcement around Johnson Valley. Hopefully it's a good showing whether or not I'm able to make it or not. I wasn't impressed with the low turnout for the JV shindig.
