We rolled in Thurs night and stayed through Sunday late afternoon. The dunes were really nice on Friday, got pretty choppy on Saturday but then the wind blew pretty good overnight making for some nice sand Sunday morning.
It wasn't very crowded just like most New Years weekends at Dumont. The holiday crowd seemed split between weekends just like Halloween was. Some were rolling in as we were leaving. Friday night at comp was completely dead. We were the only group there other than one of small group of rzrs. Nothing wrong with that but it was odd to see.
We got plenty of great buggy runs in as usual and I even got a chance to take the Raptor out Sunday morning for a couple rides. I went out for a nice solo run before everyone was up and then Adam from GTP, Garrett (ynot's grandson) his dad (rogers807) and I chased the buggies for a good run.
The Saturday meet & greet was much larger than I expected to see. We were running a little late so when we rounded the dune to head out there I was amazed at the size of the group. I met a couple new faces but like most meet & greets, everyone seemed to stick to their own group and didn't make many introductions. I wish people were more outgoing. My car was acting up so I couldn't lead a ride but from what I hear sanddunesaddict lead a great one.
South Pole meet/greet
I think I am done for a while. This trip cost me quite a bit, not to mention over the last month I have done three 3 day weekends out there.
It was a great trip and I wish we could have stayed through New Years Eve, but we had to get back to work.
I had alot of fun with our crew.
The one lesson of the weekend: DON'T PASS LOU! I'm getting a sticker made for his car- do not pass!
