early morning run to D: Sunday, June 10th Let's figure out who is going and maybe get a Vegas carpool plan together. Here's the plan.... It doesn't look like it's getting any cooler between now and then so I'm thinking we'll be leaving vegas around 3:30/ 4am, arriving at Dumont around sunrise (5:30). It should be in the upper 70's. Ride until it gets close to 100° (which is looking like 11/11:30 am or so) then bail. We should be able to get at least 3 good runs in and screw off between rides while the temps are low. Only experienced riders should consider going. The summer dunes can be unpredictable and very dangerous to the less experienced. Bring lots of water and sufficient gear. Let's ride! Anyone in?

That's great news, Nick. 1st gear buttcrack! lol

Randy, raspadoo posted this link for the guy on gd.

No, but I don't know if Greg (the owner) was 100% sure whether or not he was going to be forced to close. It wasn't something he wanted to do. It doesn't matter to me whether they knew or not though. They gave me a great deal on the bike I wanted and they had one in stock.

Correction. Sportsman is no longer a KTM dealer. They sold their franchise to Champion. Their mechanic does work on KTM's though.
-
Sportsman isn't s dedicated KTM only dealer, but yes I guess they are a KTM dealer in addition to Gas Gas, Husky, etc. I've never been very impressed with the place but I guess I will have to give them a try if I need any warranty service.

Installed new batteries & got new problems!
dunefreak replied to Dune Cruzer's topic in Truck, Jeep, & Car talk
Yeah sounds like an aftermarket radio/ module thingy issue. I've never heard of that before. -
That doesn't necessarily mean 200 people looked at it. Many members revisit the topic more than once. 30 members voted

Got some pretty crappy news yesterday. Champion KTM has closed their doors. I'm glad I got my new bike when I did! Otherwise I would have had to drive out of state to pick one up, not to mention probably wouldn't have gotten as good of a deal as I did at Champion too. I texted Greg (owner) yesterday and he called me right back to verify the bad news. He feels really bad and said he did everything in his power to try to save it, but couldn't. I hope another KTM dealer opens in town.

Memorial Weekend Trip report
dunefreak replied to Adam @ GTP Off Road's topic in Coral Pink Sand Dunes
Thanks for sharing you guys. Awesome photos, Jodi! -
Sometimes people forget to post pertinent info like that, especially when they only sign up on here just to sell something. Maybe they get excited. Gotta give him/her the benefit of the doubt though. "Duner" isn't their screen name- that's the rank it gives a member with 1 post. Glamis/DD Rider is their screen name. You could always pm them or email them. Adding some rules to the for sale section might be a damn good idea though. It would help....or maybe not. People don't read rules.

Memorial Weekend Trip report
dunefreak replied to Adam @ GTP Off Road's topic in Coral Pink Sand Dunes
Glad you made it back up there to experience a little more of what Coral has to offer. Yes, the elevation and soft sand make yur bike quite a bit down on power, but it is so worth it. I love riding up there. Thanks for sharing, Adam. -
Tim does top notch work. I highly recommend him for all your buggy needs! He's done a few things on my car and we all know how hard that thing gets pushed.
-
Badass, Steve! I loved the slow-mo part. Great jam. It went really well with that run. Or should I say it went with the flo-ride-a. haha Already, I'm sand starved now after seeing that! grrrr let's set that morning run up soon!

Nevada DMV & their OHV registration plan effective July 1

That's fine. So it's the same as we're already paying except now we get a title and the registration should now be honored everywhere we ride right? you are correct... -

$20/ year. Sounds like it's cheaper than a CA OHV sticker. -

Click the link. Sounds like it's a pretty simple process. " OHVs Purchased Prior to the OHV Program... If you own an off-highway vehicle 1976 or newer, you must register it within one year of the program implementation. The owner has the option of obtaining a title for an existing OHV. It is not required. You will have to have a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or serial number inspection completed and submit an application and the proper fees. Inspections can be completed by a licensed OHV dealer or a sworn law enforcement officer only. Please do not visit a DMV office! If your OHV does not have a VIN or serial number, it must be taken to a DMV inspection station. VIN assignments can be completed by the DMV only."
