  1. Me, wingnut, Pauly, and Vince headed out this am to D. We got there well before the sun came up. I think that is the earliest we have ever gotten there for a morning trip. We also met up with Charlie (Ball-n-Chain's husband) It felt great to be back on 2 wheels again. I took my 2 wheeler and so did Pauly. Wingnut & Vince were on their quads. It was quite the challenge to stay up. Holy crap was the sand soft as hell. Wingnut said he watched me plow through the sand and it was up to my axle most of the time. It was crazy. I don't think I have ever been out there on my dirtbike when it has been that soft. When you let off the throttle your bike would just wanna stop. Talk about power robbing sand. I managed to pull off a pretty cool trick during one of our rides. I did an endo/sommersault/ flip/ over the bars kinda move and managed to never let go of the bars. I came over a roller and when the front tire came down the transition it just STUCK. I think I was in 2nd or 3rd gear too. My momentum wasn't even enough to keep the tire rolling. As soon as I went over I hopped up to make sure Craig didn't land on top of me. I only barely bruised my leg and a very small bit of skin was lost, but nothing to even worry about. We had a couple of good rides and we were done by about 8:30 or 9. The sand became pretty white-washed and it became dangerous to try and read the dunes. We chilled till about 10 and then headed out. There were only about 3 or 4 small groups out there. The weather wasn't bad at all. It started to get a lil warm towards the end of our last ride, but a breeze started to pick up and it felt pretty nice even with temps over 100. Good rides & great laughes. Thanks guys. :icon_twisted: pictures to come.....
  2. Yep...it's an invisible fence that when you go out of bounds and hit it you get thrown back into the middle of the dunes like in the ATV Offroad Fury video game. :icon_twisted:
  3. Chase like I told you in the pm, I am very sorry to hear that someone on DDR would be such a low life scumbag and do such a thing and then try to speak on our (DDR) behalf. We do not tolerate personal attcks or threats of any kind. If we find out anyone is using the board as a tool to threaten or harm someone or their property you can bet we will ban them from the site. That is just uncalled for. Please let me know if any further malicious e-mails or pm's are sent to you. I am going to be looking into this a bit further.
  4. I see where you guys are coming from, but Ryan has his reasons for not wanting the pics up yet. And no...this is not just a sand car. It is much much more than a sand car for sure. I can't believe the engineering that has been put into this thing. It's gonna be the baddest thing out there AND on the street. :icon_twisted:
  5. Did the bike run good, Aaron? Yeah we might make an early run tomorrow AM. You up for another ride? I have room.
  6. The question should read....what one food DON'T you bring. I bring all kinds of grub.
  7. ok, it might not actually be wax- I just can't remember the name right now
  8. not sure- it's the clear chain wax. I forget the brand.
  9. I-15 north past St George exit 9 east/ Hurricane once in Huricane turn right at S100 E and then left at he stop sign for 59E 59E turns into 389 past Colorado City Just past Colorado City turn left on the Cane Beds road. You'll take that road until you come to Coral Pink dunes on your right.
  10. We were instructed no cameras were allowed in the shop......yet.
  11. yeay yeah yeah. I knew someone would have to give me crap for that. At least mine runs right now. oooooooh Think about it though. If I lube the chain, then the car will be more dirty around the chain area. I don't like to keep the chain that oiled because of that reason. It lasts about a season even without oiling it that much.
  12. Not a problem. Let me know if you run into any more issues. I had to mess around a bunch with my last SSC chain/tensioner when I first got it. After I got it dialed in it was all good.
  13. Just call Larry. Tell him what size you have now and he can fab you up one slightly larger. I think my old one was about 1.5 inches in diameter and the new one I used was like maybe a little over 2 inches or so. It doesn't take too much to get the slack out of the chain. They don't cost that much or take that long to ship from them either. Larry & Nanette take good care of people.
  14. You can take the slack up one of two ways. You can either run a one more tooth on the sprocket or you can get a larger diameter tensioner roller. I ran into this with my last car. The chain was super stretched and then when I put a new one on, it was either way too tight or way too loose. I just went with a larger roller. I'm not running a turbo. Mine is naturally aspirated and runs pretty damn good. Maybe one of these days I'll throw a turbo on, but I'm pretty happy with it now. Here is the tensioner on my car now....
  15. Actually it's home already. I wish I didn't have plans tonight. I was gonna cruise over and check it out.
  16. What kind of frame or car? Are you building yours from scratch? I think I am running a 14 front and a 64 tooth rear. The tensioner is a large nylon adjuster. I can take pics if you need. Just let me know. BTW, my car is a Short Sand Car.
  17. Maybe you can win the title of the smiley by doing that. Wait, I think barefoot bob might have you beat on that one. :porn:
  18. Damn Bob. It seems you got that motor in and running rather quick. Good luck- I hope everything goes smooth and there aren't any major bugs to work out w/ the new motor. Make sure to take some pics of that thing out there that weekend.
  19. It seems there are ALOT of toyhaulers, buggies, and bikes for sale right now. I know Vegas is hurtin pretty bad right now because of the housing market. The boom is over and is hurting the economy. It's not even just the real estate/ mortgage market either. It seems everything has slowed down. Is California as that bad too? GD.com seems to have tons of toys for sale on their forum as well. I wonder if the dunes will be less crowded because of it.
  20. Same here. That's why I asked. I have never had a problem with mine and my buggy always sits in the garage. Then again- it is pretty damn light too.
  21. Hurt the paddles?????? You're all kidding right?
