  1. Wow those dunes look insane right now. I know it's always very razored out and steep in the summer, but that is extreme how steep the face hill has become. Thanks for the pics and update, Mike.
  2. Not at Dumont. You'll have to rent in town and bring it out there.
  3. Davey! Welcome back bud. Thanks for the pics.
  4. Halloween weekend kicks off dune season at Dumont Dunes Oct 29-30 weekend. Although the official holiday is Monday the 31st, Halloween night at Dumont is Saturday night, Oct 29th. This is the night you'll find trick-or-treaters going camp to camp and duners in costume over at Comp Hill having a good time. There has not yet been any word of a truck or treat at vendor row, but the original tradition of decorating camps and kids/ families trick-or-treating has never stopped. Halloween weekend always brings out thousands of excited duners which means we always have to take a little extra caution. Keep your head on a swivel but most importantly slow down around camps and other duners. Holiday weekends can be a little crazy and chaotic, but also safe and fun at the same time. photo: vegasskip Halloween Checklist First things first, you will need a holiday weekend or holiday season pass for Halloween weekend. But after you pick up one of those and have the toys ready, it's time to get in the Halloween spirit! Decorations Candy Costumes
  5. Lows in the 60s! Awesome. I wish I was ready. Enjoy and please report back. I'm curious if there is any construction started yet on the road. More importantly I'd just love to see some dune pics. haha
  6. So here is what you can do if you purchased a pass through recreation.gov and they sold you a pass with the incorrect (last years) dates. Per the BLM, all season passes receipts will be honored and exchanged for the 2022-2023 season. They are still trying to figure out the system. No need to worry about a refund. As long as you have your receipt that you paid through recreation.gov, BLM will exchange for a hard copy season pass at the gate. For those who have not purchased a season pass but plan to buy yours through recreation.gov, I would wait until October 1st to purchase. Hard copy season passes will still be available through off-site vendors sometime over the next few weeks.
  7. Yep, but they screwed up. The dates listed for the pass are the upcoming 22-23 season but then they sell you a 21-22 season pass that expires Sept 2022. I'd wait until Oct 1.
  8. I think we should do it! Sand Hollow is awesome. Let's go there for Halloween weekend. lol
  9. Been thinking about going on some mild desert rides with my buggy in some of the lesser rocky areas. I picked up some desert tires a while back from @sandmandanbut they are a bit too wide. I'd also like to go with a taller skinny look like some of the desert buggies I've seen racing. Thinking 35x10x15 on 5.5 inch beadlocks might be the look I'm going for. Gives it a decent amount of clearance but not too wide. Any input? I recently saw this Funco down in Havasu at the Mudshark Brewery. Love those shaved Mickey Thompsons. I may even go that route on all 4. If you have any pics of desert tires on your buggy, please post em up.
  10. With dune season upon us and September/ October basically being dune prep month for most, what changes are you making to your setup or ride, if any? Post a pic of your ride or setup that you'll have out there this season whether it be new or the same ole setup you've had for years. I'm in the process of upgrading the front hubs, brakes and wheels on my buggy so I can run 5 lug instead of spindle mount wheels. But my ole blue Tech 3 will be back again for a season of shredding Dumont.
  11. Sounds like maybe it has an air leak between the carb and the engine.
  12. Thanks for the update. I'm guessing this project probably won't take more than a couple weeks to knock out. We shall wait and see.
  13. Wow I totally forgot about that. Thanks for the flashback.
  14. The Bureau of Land Management Barstow Field Office has implemented a much more convenient way to purchase your Dumont Dunes pass. You can now go to Recreation.gov and get your pass online before you even head out for the season. The fees will remain the same. There is a small service fee, but the total still comes to the same for the pass. Purchase on Recreation.gov: https://www.recreation.gov/activitypass/e210305d-b769-11eb-87ed-16dbf55c498d NOTE: Here is what you can do if you purchased a pass through recreation.gov and they sold you a pass with the incorrect (last years) dates. 16. Damn, but glad it wasn't worse. Recovering sucks! I know all about that. Heal up and hope you get back out there next season.
  17. Thanks for the update! I can't believe someone would try camping out there right now in a tent. Yeesh
  18. I'm actually hitting KM this month!
  19. Fun stuff! Gotta love a dirtbike in the dunes.
  20. I appreciate that. I was thinking of doing the same at some point during my summer travels. 👍

Dec 9-11, 2022 Can you believe this will be the 10th Annual Buggy Roundup? If you have a sandcar, you have to be there. Details below 👇 Calling all sandcars! Come join us at Dumont Dunes for our 10th Annual Buggy Roundup. The Buggy Roundup is an annual Dumont trip when all the sandcar people are invited to come out and camp together as a group. We'll be camped together across from bathroom 10, just off the right side of the entrance road. This trip gives the buggy guys and girls of Dumont a chance to meet each other and run the dunes together for a full weekend without the crowds. So don't be a stranger. Every year we have new people join the camp and end up leaving as friends. There is no set schedule of events, but it will likely go something like this... Arrive as early as you'd like. Some get there as early as Tues or Wed. Just don't go hard and break your car before the weekend! Friday Group rides: Link up and get some group rides going. Saturday 8:00 AM -~10 AM: Sandcars and Coffee: Pull your car into the center of camp. (Or park it there the night before) Feel free to bring out some donuts or breakfast treats to contribute if you'd like. Just don't go nuts. Grab some coffee, say good morning to everyone, and check out all the buggies. This gives everyone a chance to wake up and get the day started. We'll also have raffle tickets for some prizes that we'll be giving away later in the day so come to the tent in the middle of camp to grab yours. 10 AM Group Ride: Join the group as we'll form the biggest train of buggies you've ever seen. We'll do a full dune run (slow to medium paced cruise) from the south end all the way through the dunes to the north pole. Saturday Afternoon: The rest of the day will include dune trivia, giveaways and more group dune runs! Dune trivia will give you a chance to win additional raffle tickets. The raffle prizes will be given out shortly after trivia. More info to come as it becomes available Buggy Roundup/ Camp Rules Those that wish to camp with the group for Buggy Roundup must agree to the rules set by us, Dumont Dune Riders. 1) Don't be a d*ck! We've never had an issue with anyone at buggy roundup, but we will not tolerate any BS. We are there to have a fun weekend of duning and hanging out with each other. You will be asked to leave camp if you cause problems. 2) No loud music. We all love to have a good time and party, but please be respectful of others in camp. We cram alot of RVs into one place and all have different tastes in music. 3) Unsafe driving or behavior will not be tolerated. This includes no passing on group rides unless you can do it extremely safe while giving that person plenty of room (ie: cut an entire dune to do it. Don't catch them by surprise.) 4) No side x sides in the group rides, photos or Sandcars and Coffee. We get asked this every year so I feel I need to say it. If you have a side x side, you are not UNinvited. If you love buggies, you can absolutely come out and camp with us. Please just understand and respect that this is a annual event for buggies. Want in? Here's what you need to do. 1) On this page, click GOING... 2) Bring your buggy to Dumont and join in on the fun. Don't be a stranger. Park with the group. If you don't know anyone, just ask for PETE Camp Location Video from Buggy Roundup 9

Get those toys and turkeys ready. It's Thanksgiving weekend. Lately Thanksgiving weekend has been a popular one but not too crazy or crowded. It's a fairly chill weekend to spend with friends and family.

The season officially kicks off Halloween weekend, October 29-31st.
  24. Easter isn't crowded at all out there. Most people are scared of a little warmer weather and have hung it up for the season already. I'd guess only a couple vendors will show up. I, personally, love the warmer weekends out there in the springtime.
  25. Dude, there are so many "mods" and things on side x sides these days that buggies don't have. That could have meant anything. lol Trust me, my sense of humor is not lacking at all these days. MAFAKA! 🤣
