  1. What if gas wasn't so expensive.....Not sure if that's been said yet. Our family would be at the desert a lot more that's ferdangsure.
  2. Let me know when you want me in the photo shoot. I just recently overcame a dreadful disease....
  3. Wow! Even the g rated stuff huh....
  4. My boy Louie, he's a BUG. Boston Terrier/Pug mix.
  5. We usually hit up the Lenwood exit in Barstow. Plenty of parking and tons of choices.
  6. From my point of view and experience. I would take my first ride from the point in your picture to the dunes slow because I don't know what's there...kiddie track or whatever else. So it takes me an extra minute but the next ride or even coming back from my first ride I know what to expect. *Wow some of my posts are getting deleted now too*
  7. Army Navy store sells those little folding shovels. I think I'll bring that on rides from now on. Gotta leave it like I found it right Hell we could always rename them kiddie tracks to Iwasn'twatchingwhereIwasgoingdeathtraptracks :surrender:
  8. I do feel bad that someone died because they weren't watching where they were going. We do go on group rides, but when we get back to camp the last thing they want to do is sit around and talk.....they want to ride. Letting them ride when they want isn't showing them a lack of self discipline or self comtrol, it's called letting them have fun. Something that seems most people forgot how to have because they're more worried about kids and the hazards they create..... Yep shooting a pistol in the air and a berm track are exactly alike, great analogy. :freakin_nuts: Let's see the bullet I can't avoid because I didn't know it was going to come down on me...but this berm track out on a flat, they have a history of being there, can be dangerous, there is a speed limit....I think I'll just do the smart thing and cruise in case I come upon one. JEEZUZ IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!!!
  9. Unexpected kiddie track? If people expected a kiddie track or any other hazard....naturally occuring or otherwise....there wouldn't be a problem. If my kids were in a kiddie track I'd probably run over and take pictures .....they are fun for the kids and they have a good time. I've been riding/duning for 30 years. I grew up riding these tracks because our parents wanted to keep an eye on us....never had a problem back then. My comparison of a kiddie track and the whoops and or bump is that neither is naturally occuring but yet everyone knows they are there. Ok so kiddie tracks change or move but ya know they are out there. Not sure when it happened but at some point this sport turned from a great family thing we could all do to damn why are the kids involved.....and I mean legally too. I swear some people act like they were never a kid. Most don't even realize the future of our sport is cruising around that little track learning how to ride. And now the expected response is to fill in the track. Sorry didn't bring my Bobcat with me, but be careful cruising the flats at a safe speed until you get to the dunes and you'll be just fine. K, you people have fun. Dune Safe!!!
  10. Walmart has the doggie id tag machine. $5, we put our dogs name and my cell phone on it.
  11. So how should they defiine making them? What if it's already there and my kids happen upon it and start riding it? What about the people that get stuck and leave a hole or something. Are they supposed to go back and fill everything in after they get towed out? The bump at the bottom of comp isn't a naturally occuring feature in the dunes either....after shooting up the hill should I go back down and level the bump out? Seems to me there are some other important issues that the rangers should be watching out for...rather than watching for kids riding a berm track.
  12. How about just paying attention to your surroundings and keeping in mind there may be a berm track OR some other obstacle there.
