  1. As decent, hardworking Americans, it's the least we can do for our country and it only takes a few minutes to hopefully make a difference. Unless you're a 13 year old girl, you to should sign the petition below. https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/deport-justin-bieber-and-revoke-his-green-card/ST1yqHJL
  2. Interestingly, I've been going to Dumont for over 30 years now and have never had an issue with the BLM or the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Dept. In my opinion, this all goes back to the golden rule most of us learned when we were growing up, due unto others, follow the rules and treat everyone with respect, including law enforcement. This past weekend, my interaction with the BLM was at the permit station on Saturday night when I arrived, and on Sunday morning in my RZR when I was running wide open up the canyon road and encountered a ranger. I slowed down, waved to them as we passed each other and they waved back. Leaving the dunes yesterday morning I gave a friendly wave, pointed to my displayed permit and received a thank you and a wave back. I firmly believe that if one doesn't follow the rules, presents an azzhat attitude and still expects respect from those that are only doing their job will get the complete opposite.
  3. I sold the 250 and 350 we had pretty quickly in September and finally picked up a Raptor 700 after many weeks of searching. It's a 2008 SE model with very low hours, a brand new never used set of paddles and ribs and a set of ramps for $4500. My boys are stoked and ready for our New Years trip. Thanks for all the info on YFZ 450's and 700's.
  4. x3 on Verizon service at Dumont. Plus a booster makes a really nice gift especially so she can get her work done but from what I've heard an iron or a blender will get you laid more often. :saywha:
  5. We were camped deep in the canyon one year and experimenting with rockets, bare rocket engines with mickey moused aluminum can fins, nose cones, duct tape, gasoline and other miscellaneous and probably somewhat illegal modifications to them (which was in total violation of the rocketeers oath I might add, but really cool too). One rocket went up and out of sight never to be seen again. The next year, we found the highly modified rocket stuck nose down in the sand not too far from where it was launched. Evidently, the scientific modifications prevented the chute from opening and, well you know the rest, what goes up, must come down.
  6. After reading the what have you lost thread I got to thinking that I've found a whole lot more at Dumont than I've ever lost (thankfully) and thought it might be interesting to see what kinds of things have been found by everyone over the years, so I'll start... 2 - collapsable camp trash cans after an exceptionally windy night. Numerous broken whips and flags 1 - 5 gallon can of gas and a bundle of firewood on the entrance road 1 - model rocket that my kids (adults) lost the year before
  7. Many years ago on Thanksgiving weekend we lost an ATC 110 after my sister rode it to the sand drags but then left them with a friend in his rail. Thankfully it was returned to us a few hours later by someone who knew where we were camped.
  8. Followed this guy on the freeway for about a mile the other day until I blew passed him. I can only do 55 for so long.
  9. Yeah, it looks like a spoonful of Asian peanut "butt"er.
  10. No such thing as "quad hill" at Dumont. Comp Hill and Banshee Hill yes, but Banshee Hill needs to be renamed in my opinion.
  11. Just a suggestion...expand your search to So Cal as well and try using Craigshelper or Search Tempest instead and you can search multiple Craigslist cities all at once. It takes a little longer but is a much easier search tool in the long run. I hope you find it.
  12. AAA offers NHRA discounts in So Cal but I'm not sure about other strips.
  13. If you can I'd like to see a complete write up on the process, time it took, what all's involved, etc., as well as what other things need to be done in conjunction with the turbo set up and costs of course (if your willing to share). Thanks.
  14. Here you go thanks to Google Translator...Si los baños están cerrados hacer su negocio en una bolsa de basura. No haga cagar en las dunas. Sea respetuoso para todos los demás, o mejor aún ir a comprar un cagadero portátil!
  15. Thanks for all the info guys. It probably boil down too what I find at the right price when I'm ready to buy.
  16. My two oldest boys ages 15 and 18 have outgrown their quads, Raptor 250 and 350 (they'll be in the classified soon ) and I'm looking for a a new ride for them to share. My oldest is away at college so he won't be able to join us at the dunes as often so the 15 year old will be ridng the new quad the most and they'll share it and our RZR when they both hit the dunes. We're considering either a YFZ 450 or a Raptor 700, probably a few years old/used as there are still some great deals out there. I've ridden both in years past but am not real familiar with either. I know both have a lot of power and the the 450 is probably a bit quicker and is definitely lighter. The 700 is a torque monster and gets up and goes too. Both of my boys are over 6' and about 180. Let's hear some opinions from those of you that have some seat time on both of these models.
  17. Truth be told I don't agree with the law either but in my opinion it was written and imposed on us because our own kind allowed our SxS's to be driven by those with little to no experience (kids, etc.) or brains which in turn ended up with these same people being injury or death statistics. Because of this and because some can't self police themselves we are forced to be policed. If you notice my avatar and signature, I also own and ride a 3 wheeled death trap that was deemed to be unstable/unsafe by the feds in the late 80's due to the same issues I listed above. Laws like this will continue to be imposed on all of us until we as humans all do ourselves in through self destruction or learn from lessons past. My guess is that the self destruction and laws will continue to prevail.
