  1. Well, safely anyways. Is anyone going this week end? anyone with kids? I have a 2 year old boy, 5 yr old girl. Looking to camp with someone sat /sun. We take a rail, a samurai, and quads. Plenty of room for more passengers. Fatherin law and brother in law are suppose to go sunday, but I dont want to dune with the family alone, its always safer to atleast have someone to get a ride from back to camp if need be, or be prepared for accidents as best we can, even if they hopefully dont happen at all.

Id be going sat morning, if I find fellow duners. Everyone else, is either hurt, broke, or broke, or busy...

we are planning on going for the day saturday. my buddy said he was going for the weekend. not sure if he is still going. bringing my boy, he is 18 and our grandaughter. she will be 3 in march. will be driving a red 01 silverado pulling a trailer with quads.

  2. Ok, somtimes I sit on my hands while I try to twiddle my thumbs.

Most of the time when it's slow I have my little DVD player and watch a little CSI or what ever new movie happens to be out. Thats after I see whats going on with DDR.

When it's busy I'm really busy!!!!!!!!!!

if i were a girl i can think of something better to twiddle than my thumbs ;)

  3. we went out there a while back and drove up to the dunes. i kinda wondered if we just unloaded and rode the dunes what would happen and if anyone would see. really nobody out there except for the people working the depot. im sure there is a hefty fine but dont know what the ramifications would be. if someone out there has the balls to try it have at it and give us a report. :beercheers:

  4. i plan on going out there ken. the cars and trucks are supposed to start about 7:30 in the morning. if they are running the course counter clockwise there is a good spot at the far end of the eldorado dry lake bed where they come towards you and then turn to parallel the dry lake at a pretty good rate of speed. a few years ago i saw mark post in the riviera truck almost run some dumbasses over when he blew the turn. they are having stuff in boulder city thursday and friday night on water street in henderson. everything is on BITD website. if you are helping out and need a co helper let me know. :D actually i think that was a score race i saw mark racing.

  5. Name calling is against the rules! Why can't everyone have civil discussions anymore? If this name calling and arguing continues this topic will be closed and people are going to start getting suspended.

And BTW, superdave has a couple kids (and grandchild) and is smart enough to camp far away from finger dunes where there are high traffic areas. This topic has been discussed before on here and there is never going to be an agreement on this so let it go, people. :bs: This includes you, Dave. There is no need to get all worked up about such a thing. :shocked2:

ok. i guess i will go sit in the corner with my nose against the wall. :( [ thats old school, literally, for the kids out there ] AND IM NOT AN I DOIT!

  6. I did not know you cant stake off the fingers. We have always staked off part of a finger for the kids and did not know it wasn't allowed. I am not looking to start crap here but what is the problem with doing that? We have a camp of 4-5 trailers/motorhame with quite a few little ones and just triing to keep em safe. I sure you guys will have some reasons whiy its not allowed...probably stuff I don't know about.

Also what are the meeting you guys are referring to?? Are they something anybody can attend??

ah, duh. because the fingers are for riding too. i have had little ones and have a little grandkid now. talk about keeping the little ones safe, then camp away from the sh*t! jesus christ! its not a damn playground for kids. people actually love to ride the fingers without having to run into kids. jesus f*ckin christ! :stirthepot:

  7. Ok, how about a trade? I will not only stop going to comp but I will stop drinking all together when jerks stop roping off the dunes. No camps/ropes within 20ft of the base of any dune and no more crazy happenings at comp. Sounds fair.

ha ha. i think i started a thread about this a couple of years ago. its gotten worse. i couldnt believe all the damn caution tape and cones on the fingers. and worse kids playing at the top and for whatever reason people like to just stop and sit on the tops of the finger on their bikes and quads. i still think the blm should have an easment on both sides of the fingers and enforce that.

  8. Not to sound too old but being a dad of three boys it's amazing to watch there riding levels accel by each trip to the dunes. They are 14, 12 & 11 this weekend was there first ever with a paddle on there bikes after 4 years of complaining about soft sand and two wheels. It was also the first time we parked indasand because the boys had paddles. Anyways they did great through the dunes (way up north) no complaints and they don't want to go back to dirt tires and don't want to camp indagully anymore. Hat's off to my kids they made my weekend a proud one.

not to sound too old but my two and a half year old grandaughter had a fun time. i gave her numerous rides on the v force and she got a kick out of sitting in my lap and steering my truck around the flats. even rode the finger dune and went over in it. she thought that was great. had fun trick or treating in camp. the v force ran awesome all weekend. got all the bugs worked out finally. im getting rid of all my junk and getting another v. :D

  9. for the most part all the stations suck because there is so much good music out there that just is not played. jack is ok because of the variety but it can get old sometimes. kklz went oldies but at least they mix in some newer oldies too. i like 97.1 the point because i like classic rock but i like newer stuff too. komp is cool too sometimes but i cant take that sh*t they play that wants to make you go out and kill sombody. :flipoff:

  10. as long as it still smells like gasoline, not varnish i put it in my wifes or kids car with fresh gas or even in my truck if its only a few gallons and top off my tank

  11. you take the apex exit and go left. go down and take the first right , go over the railroad tracks and follow the road over the freeway. you go a few miles and the start finish is on the right. the course runs along side the road before that for a while. i dont think there is any spectator area setup. its just me and my boy working the checkpoint. if someone is willing to help keep numbers and times and ready to spend all day out there you can ride with me and help at the checkpoint. :D

  12. another case of the government looking the other way because it kept the economy rolling and im sure there were plenty of politicians making a ton of money on real estate. anyone could see the sh*t gonna hit the fan the way they were approving loans and all the crazy financing going on. and now the government is going to bail out a ton of idiots who overfinanced at the tax payers, US, expense. of course they dont care. they already made their money. :DDRrocks:
