  1. What ever happened with banshee wars? Haven't heard that in a few years.
  2. A few of us from B-town were headin up for that weekend also. If anyone from the south wants to caravan with us saturday morning, let me know. We try to leave early, but you all know how that ends up.
  3. It was kind of weird. I bought a brand new stator. It started right up, idled fine, lights worked but wouldn't rev past 1/2 throttle. At first it felt like it was running too rich. Checked out everything before I figured out it was the stator. Luckily I brought my stock unit just in case. RS told me to change my coil and wires before sending it back. Hand winding the coils seems a little too involved to me. Me and electricity don't work well together. Thanks for the suggestion though.
  4. On super bowl weekend, I switched my stock stator on my banshee to a new 200w ricky stator stator. Went for the first ride and it quit on me. When I got back, I called them about the warranty. After talking to a few people, I guess this isn't an isolated incident. Anyone else ever had problems with ricky stator? What are other good brands?
  5. Hey Pete, make sure you post pics of the south pole construction crew.
  6. It was cool meeting you guys. Have to go for a ride next time. Hopefully won't have to work on the banshee for 2 hours next time we go out.
  7. Looks bad a$$. What size is that back tire? never seen that set-up before.
  8. we usually camp near the end of the finger at the old vender spot. should be there around 1. Look for a red/silver f-250. what are you guys drivin?
  9. You guys want to meet up sat afternoon for a ride? Haven't met any of you all yet. Keep an eye open for 3 banshees.
  10. A 4-stroke banshee is a crime. I hope it was just a joke.
  11. A few of us from barstow will be there sat morning. Don't know for how long. Usually camp by BR 6 along finger. Come by and have a beer.
  12. Reeds and porting fo sho. After the last post about banshees, wonderboy recommended +4 timing so I tried it. Haven't made first trip yet. its supposed to help bottom end.
  13. Just another day at the dunes. Single a-arm front end, spindle snapped in half on a ride and I didn't even know it till I got back to camp. Pulled in and it just fell over.
  14. Checked all the fuses and breakers. I've got full tanks of gas. Today I blew 2 lbs of sand out of it with my compressor and still nothing. When I turn it on, it doesn't click or try to light. I'll take it in before next trip. Thanks for the help.
  15. My last trip out to the dunes, my water heater quit working. It still works when I switch it to electric, but not with gas. Anyone know anything about them, or should I quit being a cheapskate and take it in. Any help would be appreciated.
  16. Sounds like fun. Only good thing about breakin it is making it faster. If you put a cool head, they told me 21 cc domes for pump gas, anything smaller you might have to run 50/50 mix. Check your compression after the build, anything over 160 lbs you need more octane. Port work is the best bang for the buck. Dont know much about bigger carbs, still run stockers. Post updates on the motor, good luck. 2-strokes still rule
  17. I saw it after the BLM was on the hill. Asked if I could help. Long travel car looked like it flipped off the top. Officers said the drivers 21 year old son fell out of the passenger seat. Driver was still in the car when I was up there. Not real sure what happened.
  18. The barstow crew and I got there wed. Good weekend until some drunk a-hole slammed his buggy into my buddy mikes banshee friday night. He was on the top of comp with 2 friends, lights on, right above where that rail flipped. BLM watched it happen. My friend is OK but it wrecked the back end of the banshee pretty bad. All in all still a good trip.
  19. Made me feel even more drunk.
  20. I was working at Ft. Irwin today, and they closed the road. Had to wait 4 hours after work before they let us leave. They got almost 3 1/2 inches.
  21. If you are going to put an adjustable timing plate, be careful. To much advance causes detenation in the cylinder. I dont know about doing it with stock porting. My group still has a few banshees we dune. We'll be out for new years if you want to go riding. 2 strokes still rule
  22. I have t-5s, boost bottle, K&N, port work but my jetting has always been fine with what toomey said to do. 270 mains Stock pilots screws 1 1/2 turns out. airbox lid on with 12 1 inch holes drilled.Hope this helps
  23. I have the exact same suspension set-up on my buggie. If you lift the front up too much, the wheels tip in and make it hard as hell to steer. I put marvin shaws on mine and you can play with the nitrogen pressure. Going to be rough any way. Swing axles don't get any better either.
  24. Steel is cheaper and lasts longer.
