  1. I hear ya, but I think, unfortunately, it was all of them.
  2. Yes welfare is tapped; CA was writing I.O.U.s for a little while. Arnold was spending every penny during the last few good years, and during a recession, government doesn't know how to cut back, so CA is in trouble. Social security is a bit more complicated. My dad is 62. He was gonna work until age 66 in order to get a bigger benefit each month. He's now thinking he better start now, before they end all payouts completely. Yup, we're broke. google national debt; look what we're paying to China in interest each day. It would blow your mind. :mischevious:
  3. We have a driver in our company that failed a random test. It was an automatic termination, but after getting clean, he is going through the hoops to continue driving. He pays out of his pocket $50 a test; He's looking at a required 60 negative screenings over the next 5 years. Getting caught cost him pretty big. I'd suggest to have the system pay the initial test; which could be funded from the welfare benefits saved. Anyone with a negative could start paying like my friend has to...sounds fair to me; and we'd still spend less on this crap.
  4. I'm running conoco brand red HD high tack on the drivetrain/chassis of all our rigs; seems to be the best I've found. It has good stand up to water . Don't know how it compares to steelco brand, but I pay around $2.50 per cartridge; although I'm buying 40 at a time. I pick it up at DOWNS in Corona.
  5. Right on I've seen this as an email. Doesn't seem political at all to me; it seems like common sense. The problem is, if a politician ever proposed this, he'd lose too many of his constituents :mischevious: to get re-elected.
  6. The car in my avatar has an LS1; but the car I was referring to in my post(My first car[for sale]) , had a Porshe 914/type4 2.0 liter, turbo-d and innercooled. Good luck on the maiden voyage, I'm gonna be at glamis this weekend, otherwise I'd look for you
  7. thinking the same thing; a hub on that spindle only moves the wheel out a little, thereby increasing the "leverage" on that spindle, increasing the chances of a break. Spindle mount rims save you weight up front, and unless you plan on a lot of hard pack riding, you shouldn't need the brakes, or the hubs to change your wheels. I had those concerns with my old car, but after a few years in the sand, IMO, spindle mounts were just fine.
  8. UNBELIEVEABLE! This just shows how out of touch our politicians are! This recession doesn't mean a thing to them; they just keep spending our money, and making regulations like this to force us to spend more, on things like heating. I'm boiling with them(CARB) over their new diesel requirements. In the trucking industry, we'll have to retrofit every truck in our flleet with particulate filters on the exhaust, retroactive for every year of truck on the road in CA. Not only will that kill longevity, squash fuel economy, but force many small business owners out of business. Each retrofit can cost around 10k per vehicle. I'm looking at spending 50k to conform, and then hope to recover those costs in a economy that is already suffocating me. I'd be better off to close my business. Some may see good in these kind of regulations, but I ask, if every other state isn't keeping them, much less every other country, don't they think the wind patterns of this planet will just cycle that pollution back around. I mean, the world is a sphere :freakin_nuts: :rant_on: Why is CA working so hard, at destroying the economy for businesses, for us off-roaders, etc.
  9. WOW, I run my fireplace almost every night during the winter in Riverside to save a few pennies on my utilities. I suppose your tree huggin neighbors could rat you out if you were to defy CARB. :freakin_nuts:
  10. Holy crap :freakin_nuts: and what are you referring to about your fireplace?...is there some kind of city regulation or h.o.a. rule? our government seems to be getting to big for their britches.
  11. Try craigslist, I had a few ads dragging along, and discovered it; been having good luck. Made about 2k back from stuff laying around the garage. Keep in mind, I probably spent 5 k on it all originally Good luck, I know the feeling
  12. No cell phones No clocks, no deadlines Time with friends and family The best escape from responsibility, in the most beautiful terrain God imagined!
  13. Awesome Looking forward to meeting him someday at the dunes
  14. Sorry to hear about your friend Yah, medical services aren't cheap. My little boy's ambulance ride cost over $5000; and that was just from Riverside to Loma Linda(less than 20 miles). 15 hours in the ER was another $5000. We only paid a $100 copay. Spending a little on insurance won't even be a concern, once you have a situation where you need it!!!
  15. I've never met you, or Dallas, but I have and will continue to pray for him,...and you, as this is hard on you as well. You are right! God is good, even when we don't understand our trials. Keep us up to date!
  16. Looks great. I did a lot of suspensinsion upgrades on my first car as well; they turned out awesome, it did fantastics through the whoops. With a little bit of fine tuning, you're gonna fall in love with your car again. You probably saved a buttload of cash as well
  17. Hahaha, I spent all of mine on a rail a few months ago <-------------------------------
  18. I know you weren't talking about my post Joseph. I used the smiley titled B to signify who I meant when I said (he). If you think that's racist, your sensitivity might be a little high. Furthermore, I don't think anyone is hiding behind their monitor when so much identifies who we are(pics, email, etc.) I'm just saying, I don't get all offended because of these smileys. Just because 1/2 the country disapproves of the president, does not mean they are racist It's about policies, and the waisting of our tax dollars. As sand enthusiasts, I would expect many of us are appalled by the taxes we pay to our government, as we watch them piddle it down the drain. People's frustration with this is going to only grow stronger.
  19. Don't forget, the amnesty he's :B pursuing will not only entitle them with Gov. run health care, but social security benefits that our children will be paying for as well , citizens or not. "Americans" voted for "change"; now we're gonna get it
  20. I've been watching the builds on these things, and this 1 looks great. Love the modern touches. How much can these things set you back? I know if I can make it to watch this year, by next year I'll be building one
  21. If it's the front driveshaft, couldn't you just remove that driveshaft and drive it in 2wd to get repaired if it's not too far. That, or trailer it in, but I definitely wouldn't drive it the way it is; you could do some serious damage if she pops out at speed. I've had a couple come apart on the semi's; suckers spun around and destroyed suspension, and electrical harness, and even bent the frame rails (3/8" thick)
  22. Wow; Newby here; Just came across this thread. Prayer works! My little boy is a testimony to that. Long story, another time. I made this pic for my pc's desktop: Hope it's an encouragement
  23. That schematic should help. Hard to accurately diagnose without seeing it. One idea I had could be the white ground wire could've attached to the trailer chassis right at the hitch, not being plumbed beyond the box. Also, Your trailer may not be wired with an aux. circuit. Where is the tear; middle of cable(Shear) , or did it pull cable out of connector? Maybe identify how many/ color of wires on trailer side to help diagnose what you're up against.
