  1. It would that Mech-tech built the engine orginally, then chrfb re did it about 2 years ago. Both in Ca. both have good reps. I guess it will depend on how fast one of them can get to it. Dune season's awasting!
  2. Looks like I have to pull the heads on my car. I really don't want to haul it to Ca. but have not found a shop in Vegas that knows the in's and out's of a twin turbo Northstar motor. Can anybody give me some input?
  3. Nice job folks! It's nice to see that we don't let the bad guys win!! So how about a dune report? How was it?
  4. Will find out soon. Don't think so. It appears to be a small leak but same results a s a big leak. Tear it DOWN!
  5. It's been heating up so after looking into it a little deeper it would appear I need a new head gasket Friend of My son in laws who is a cad. mech is coming over tomorrow to check it out further.
  6. Joe, I am hoping to make it but don't think the car will be ready by then. Guy is doing the repair is doing it over the weekend but looks like it may take 2 weekends for him to finish the job. I will keep you advised.
  7. 1. I will have to check with the rest of my group about the camping spot. We are pretty set in our ways but I kinda need to be closer to the FoDD area for convience. So I will ask about moving spots for the weekend. 2. Thomas is working on it and that web site will be the source of info very soon. As soon as I hear more I will let you know.
  8. I have a buddy that has a 12' garage in his toyhauler. He fits 3 full size quads and 2 90's(stood up). His biggest complaint is how friggin heavy it is to tow. As someone who started out hauling a 40' Alfa Toyhouse with a F350 4 dr long bed and finally after 2 yrs realizing that it was way to much trailer and to little truck I bought a Freightliner fl60 tow rig. Let me tell you from a safety and libality point of view it was the best thing I ever did. Sales people will tell you anything but remember that in an emergency stop it's just going to be you and your family in the truck. Having seen articles and reading about overweight towing I had to look beyond immediate need and look at the long run and protecting the people who mean the most to you along with everything that you have accumulated over the years. Lawsuits can reach deep! So to cut it short, be careful when making the decision to buy these "monster" toyhaulers.
  9. Just so you know Friends of Dumont Dunes gives out a trophy for most trash collected by a group/organization. Maybe a little friendly competition?
  10. I won't be making this trip. Looks like I may have a blown head gasket on the car and need a little time to get it repaired. If all works out I would love to gout the following weekend. I believe that would be the 3rd and 4th of Feb.

    vendor row

Have him contact Barstow BLM for a vendor permit.
  12. Sorry guys my mistake. It was not there yesterday. I lost a day somewhere! It was taken either Sunday nite or Monday Morning. Dam I hate getting old
  13. It must have occurred Sat Night although it was so windy I can't believe anyone was on the dunes. Might have been early Sunday morning. I guess one of our people was out for a ride and went out there and there were 2 couples on utility quads cleaning up the mess. Beer cans, straightening the pole etc. They were from St. George if I remember correctly. Anyway on an afternoon run out there the box was gone. It was mounted with bolts to a steel plate that is welded to the pole. The box was plastic so it must have taken a real He-man to break it off!
  14. For some unknown reason person(s) decided it might be fun to damage the North Pole and tear off the mailbox! Some nice people cleaned up the beer cans etc around it and got it all straightened out but the mailbox has been ripped off the post and is long gone. I have no idea why these idiots can't leave stuff alone?
  15. I was just following everyone else's lead! But I do look forward to meeting you and capping on you in person!
  16. Is that because they can't see around you?
  17. # 9 is the pretty far back from the vendors row area. Turn left about 200 feet from the top of the mesa(once you get up the hill onto the flats) then come out about 1/8 to 1/4 mile and look for our rigs. Pete I did get your Pm and answered.
  18. Anywhere in there is fine Joe. I will not be out before about 6. Other people to look for would be Mike who drives a wht. FL60 truck and 5th wheel and Ken who has a taupe colored Winnebago 37' with a white enclosed trailer. Mike thought he would be out earlier in the day. We try to find a existing campfire and put it in the middle but we are not particular. Let me know what your rig looks like and i will let them know that your joining us and if you arrive earlier to look for you. Bring wood if you can.
  19. I once came over the far south end dune up where Don and Joe camp to find them filming a UPS commercial Camels and all! That was the most unusaul sight I have seen out there other than seeing all the feathers that a band named the Cranberry's had used in a video and then left. What a mess but they were soon gone with the wind.
  20. Thanks anyway Stephan! I have the paddles off and it's already back in the trailer. It is just a pain to get the M/H out and pull the trailer. I guess when my kids move their trailer I will have to buy a flatbed car hauler for these moments. Thanks again, by the way when are you coming back up to Dumont?
  21. Pete I had one of those before and they are pretty narrow. Thanks for the look though.
  22. Anybody in Henderson have a flat bed trailer I could borrow for the day tommorow? I need to haul my car to have some work and I would like to haul it with my pick up instead of the motorhome with the big trailer. Would be willing to compensate for the use. My car is 14' long and will have the desert tires so around 92" in the back and 82" in the front. Let me know ASAP, thanks, Terry
