  1. So where will everybody be on Sunday. I usually sit near the tower.
  2. I am afraid I would have to nominate B370's quad. Mines quick but his is Fast
  3. Mike, how soon do you need it? I believe there some people going out this weekend maybe they could help?
  4. Just so that you know the group that oversees(makes recommendations) to the Blm had their first meeting Tuesday. There are 11 members ranging from OHV interest to Movie and film users representives and 3 members of the Ca. Desert Advisory Board(DAC). Our job/task is to advise the BLM on how to spend the fee demo funds. To try to educate the dune users in the how and why things are done the way they are done. The funds from the sticker account appear to have been misused but as you said they are being investigated and there is a chance that we might see some of those funds head towards Dumont this year. That being said we are putting this group together, installing a charter, have elected a Chairman,Co Chair and a sect. All of our meetings are open and the minutes are available to the public. We are looking at the budget for the dune area and the use of the funds and any that may be leftover to use for improvements. Funds are available right now to make the concrete bridge a 2 lane and the work will start on it as soon as the river dries up some more this spring/summer. We are looking at road improvements etc. Your input is appreciated and my job is to be there for you as the Nevada OHV representive.
  5. I was hoping that Dunefreak would clarify the "plan" Maybe he knows what they were referring to?
  6. If you think about it why do we need to support people who can't care enough to take their garbage to their homes for pick up? Traffic congestion would be horrible at the entrance with people blocking the road to drop off one or two bags of trash at the dumpster. Your still talking a lot of $ to haul the trash to Pahrump, pay the disposal fee etc. What are we talking a couple of bags of trash per rig per weekend? Why is it that they can't just carry it out? The way they calculate the needed trash bins at a residental complex, IE apartments etc. is 1/2 yard of trash per family per week. There were 8000 units(vehicles) at Dumont Pres. day that's roughly 4000 cubic yards of trash or 100x40 cubic yard dumpsters that would be needed at a cost of let's say $100.00 per dumpster to remove it(and that would be cheap) math would be easy 100x100=$10,000.00 per holiday etc. That would add up fast. On top of that the open dumpsters would be a invitation for dumpster divers looking for recyclable items, and rodents, snakes, ravens etc. Also the wind blowing across the dumpster would move any loose trash back out onto the dune area. I think education is the key here. "if you want to play take your trash away". Also if you look at the total overall clean up we filled about 1&1/2 40 yard dumpsters. That's after 1 full year of use and wind storms. I am not saying it was good but for all the use and all the bottles, cans etc that are taken out there to only have less than 80 yards of trash isn't bad. It's a good place to start the education process in m y opinion. Sorry to go so long!
  7. I am not sure either of what the "plan" is? If you mean the plan for the fee demo money that's what the TRT(Techincal Review Team) and as the Nevada OHV appointee to that team I am listening to anybody who has any ideas on how to improve the dune experience at Dumont. One thing that I hope we never see is dumpsters, they are expensive and have been shown to not cause a decline in trash left behind. They attract mice, ravens and where their are mice there are snakes. It is so expensive that if you wanted dumpsters at the dunes you would have to be prepared to have a LARGE increase in the annual fee. like 10 fold! I am listening to what you guys want and can offer. In fact i just got back from the first meeting in Barstow today. My next meeting is in May.
  8. I know you guys are there for us that's for sure. I wish I had known that the DDR bunch gathered 161 bags of trash. I would have announced it and gotten some more hurrah's for you guys!! I do appreciate the support it makes all the work worth it. :shocked2: Edited by ISBB: Fixed your smileys
  9. Good idea Pete, we could talk to Western Maint. about hanging a sign maybe just before pres. day. that is when the heaviest use is and maybe people would think twice about dropping that bottle in the sand.
  10. If you towards the small store that is on the Ca. border/east side of the freeway follow the road around to the right out behind the outlet mall. The track is back there. The guy runs a tight ship as far as the times the races go off. If they tell you you run at 9 you can bet it will happen. Anybody going out Sunday?
  11. Damm Skippy I don't knowhow I got in the middle of this one! You guys have to remember I am damm near 52 years old. I have had a lot of time to get lucky, be in the right job at the right time and have booted all my kids out. I love this sport and I like to be comfy while doing it. If the off road community does not get behind the organizations that are working to keep things open all of our expensive and not so expensive toys will all be worthless. So if you love the sport or just want to protect your investments from the greenies than keep the faith, join the organizations such as FoDD, Blue Ribbon Coalition etc. And by the way Travis your ranting all over the place. Don't you have something better to do? :shocked2:
  12. Easy way to get dudes to pick up after themselves is have the best looking girl in the group and kindly ask them in their innocent girlie way. No hassle, fights etc. Works every time!
  13. Jeez the damm thing is so big it has a entrance and an exit door! :rainbow1: It looks like you may have to add a Wal Mart greeter to your payroll. Hi, welcome to Pete's Place" Pete, I should be leaving about 5:30 but have to make a stop in pahrump to pick up a sign. Should be at the dunes by 8:30-9:00 come by if you see us pull in. I probably won't be pulling any toys out till the AM.
  14. I heard it was cause the windows had this covering !
  15. Once again I have to say with all the toys we have and the tools etc that we do leave in the trailer all the time some kind of security is needed. This system even has a warning light on it to let theives know it is secured. For $310.00 I thought it was a pretty inexpensive system but high quality, that's why I became a dealer for them.
  16. I have an extra set of desert tracks that you could use. Wouldn't be the best paddle but would at least get you around. Let me know if you need them and I will load them up.
  17. Cathy, we will be right next to DDr camp with the FoDD camp. There will be some kids with us.
  18. No Problem, it is an option for somebody who does not want to have to crawl over stuff to attach and tighten the tie downs. Also once they pop the side door they (the thieves) can loosen the tie downs themselves. Also if they want to steal the trailer they just hook it up and drive off with it. This system locks the electric brakes and sets of the siren and lights. I understand if your $20,000.00 Rhino is protected by 2 tie downs but somebody may want a little more security than that. Just my opinion though. Oh by the way my name is Terry not Tyler
  19. I have just received 5 alarm set ups for trailers! DDR price includes 2 key fobs, siren, 2 wireless door sensors and the electronics. Fairly simple hook up any mechanilally inclined person could install. DDR price $310.00 retail would be $399.00 Let me know if your interested I can deliver at the clean up.
  20. Bills always a spot for you guys :shocked2: We will be across from the campground host on the rt. side of the road. When are you arriving?
  21. Cat, I would think that Vic is going to want you more down towards the campground hosts location but on the right side of the road. I know that's where were supposed to be with the registration booth and the dumpster. Since we are using your shade I would imagine that will be where she would like to have you. I will call her and let you know. I won't be in till late Thursday night 9:30/10:00. My rig is a 40' Alfa M/H and a TPD stacker. If we have to move friday morning we can but would like to do it once as I am sure you would! Terry
  22. Cathy, when are you getting out to Dumont? I want to set up and make sure everybody is in the right spot for the clean up. I am arriving Thursday night. Thanks, Terry VP FoDD
  23. Trash bags are being supplied. You can bring a rake, magnet etc if you want. Alot of the trash at Dumont is fire pit stuff. You will want to wear gloves. Any tools you bring just make it easier but mostly we are looking for your labor
