  1. Of all the fatal accidents at Dumont that I know of,, all involved alcohol. At Havasu usually meth or coke and alcohol use by the deceased. I don't drink and ride, and I don't ride with those that do. I was one hell of a rider when i did, could really push the envelope,, but I'd rather dune sober, drink when it's all done for the day.
  2. Neighbor girl works at Wendys. They told her is when answering the phone to stop saying: "Wendys, Hot and Juicy". True, on the level.
  3. I didn't know Wendys employees had names on their uniforms. Thought you wore ID badges.
  4. All gambling is a loosing proposition. The "Old Northern Nevada Rules" and "Old Downtown Rules" were way, way different than they are today. Even different than the 'Vegas Club now offers. They vanished about the time Wynn was casino manager at the Nugget. Late 1960's early 70's. One rule among many that changed for example: the dealer had to hit ANY 17. The odds at a shoe game and a single deck are the same, unless you count cards, and very few people can do that effectively. Very few. We go to play the best we can, If we win it's a bonus. We just enjoy playing cards, a few drinks,, a show and a nice dinner without the kids. Anyone who says they're ahead gambling, or they always win is full of crap. Speaking of crap: Even the best dice games offer about a 2% house edge at todays odds and rules. That is an astronomical advantage. The newer blackjack rules give the house a stratopheric, colossal, incredable advantage far, far beyond that. The Crapless Craps at the Strat, probably the worst odds in any house game ever next to the wheel of fortune. Maybe the Video poker is worse. Roulette: The payout rate vs odds ratio is ridiculous. It's all so bad, not worth debating. I hope no one one here has a gambling problem. I've seen countless friends beat drugs, alcohol, religious cult & spending addictions. I've never seen anyone beat a gambling addiction. Play for fun, if ya win, it's a bonus.
  5. The best BlackJack is at the Las Vegas Club on Freemont street, across from the Golden Nugget, down the street a bit. It almost has "Old Downtown Vegas" or "Old Northern Nevada" rules. You can double down on any hand, split indefinatly, the surrender rule is always in effect, if you draw 6 cards it's an automatic blackjack (with a shoe game you see that more often), and a half dozen other rules no other casino offers anymore. Good craps too. The employees are friendly, clean nice sports theme atmosphere. The comp drinks flow very easily, beware they pour them super strong. A good link with good takes: http://www.cheapovegas.com/vegas_casino_fu...p?hotel_id=1022
  6. Putting Elka Dune series on the wifes KFX 700 and am looking for the best place to buy them in the Western US. Thanks
  7. "Vegas,, Always a goofy experience with M/C quad dealers.
  8. Best way to figure out sand tires is to talk to those that have them of course (if you can find them) seems not too many people do yet. or Fullerton Sand Tire 714 898-2049. They really know their stuff.
  9. Used to see those truck bed racks all the time at the dunes. No so much anymore., maybe because of the popularity of toy haulers.
  10. Their 700 2 stroke looks pretty cool. But the word is it's problem plagued with little or no factory support. 30 day warranty. Their website seems abandon with maybe an annual update. They dropped their dealer locator, and their forum is defunct, with one family member running a feeble webpage that seems un-manned. Strange company.
  11. The crew cab is the way to go. Nice fit and finish on the Dodge too. Good purchase!
  12. We sometimes get the chance to talk to the owners of motorcycle dealers. Ron Siedner owner of Berts, stops by our camp at Dumont, and it's a good time to get a good take on whats happening in both the M/C and ATV industry. Look for bigger and more powerful Rhinos. Ron sells more of them than anyone. They're narrow now because Yamaha wanted buyers to be able to fit them in the back of pick up trucks. I think you can understand why they'll give up that idea with the newer models. Feedback is that makes no difference in most buyers decision to buy one, and they'd rather have it wider, more stable. We bought the middle son a new Honda 250 Sport Trax friday, and I had a chance to chat with Jim, the owner of Simi Valley Honda (ATK). Jim is also president of IN2DIRT a politically active dirt riders group. Jim sold ATK's from day one, and I asked him why he dropped the line. "They don't improve them, they don't correct the problems found & reported in the field. They just keep shipping them with full knowledge of the quality issues." If anyone remembers the 500,, it was a steamer. But the chassis grew long in the tooth, and ATK just hasn't kept up with the industry. The 500 was the first guy on the block, and Japan has kicked their butt since. The takeover of the Cannondale quad/MX bike is turning out to be a big white elephant. A POS. "ATK/cannondale just doesn't have the engineering huevos & depth of Japan". ATK made some changes,, but they've lost dealer support, and are now discovering some of the features on their Cannondale are unuseable because the patent rites were sold to someone else. ATK is a big mess, the owner just doesn't get it, and the dealers are giving them up. The wealthy owner of ATK runs the company solely for bragging rites,, and could care less is the general opinion of former dealers or customer support. Not my opinion because I know little of the company. But hate to see an American company go bad. This from the guys in the middle of it all.
  13. We used to rent one until we got a fix if our 11 year old liked the dunes. It ran good, pretty peppy. I always look at resale-ability of anything I buy. This is a friendly forum full of positive minded people so you may not get any negitive takes,, and most ride Japan quads. Some have had good experiences, I think Berts sells them and he only sells good stuff. Use quality gas and oil, and service it. Edited for understanding.
  14. Yeah we went in and were amazed they've never done it or considered doing it. We have 5 quads, and may eventually get a 4 pass ride of some sort. We were surprise how little a 40 footer holds, well I mean how much the cool floor plan we liked holds, and figured they had a solution with stackers. They told me they never did it. If your friend pulls it off it'd make for a great threadworthy DDR story. Keep us up dated if you can.
  15. Ya see them in the utility box trailers.. how about them in say a WW40/45 footer? Anyone every checked it out or done it?
  16. Ditto. If they don't have them in stock it usually takes 2 days to get them.

  18. Scat Trak will tell you right up front when you call that they are more money and refer you to their dealers. Scat Track has awesome, most excellent service,, and is usually faster and more on the ball than their dealers. One of the best Businesses I've ever done any transaction with.
  19. I understand your right honorable opinion. Parump offers excellent living conditions, near a teriffic metropolitan area in Las Vegas at still relative reasonable real estate prices. Good medical persons can be easily attracted. No excuse what-so-ever for shoddy medical treatment and cavalier staff attitudes. None at all. A dangerous sport doesn't mean you compromise on good medical care.
  20. My Wife is as deep into medicine as one can get. Works 4 - 12 hour days a week in frontline ICU. Checking for internal bleeding is routine, very easy. Standard proceedure. Usually the person is sitting there and looks 99% OK, maybe appears to just have their bell rung. In an hour or two, if not caught they're dead. We were discussing this the day before Terry passed away. Happens with internal surgery too if internal organs are not sewn up correctly. No hospitial should miss or overlook internal hemoraging. Especially in an impact accident. The Hospital in Parump is way outta bounds for this family. We're life flight-ing straight to LV, and we're sitting on everyone involved in our medical care, and our friends medical care.
  21. My 6 year old son Maynard got all kinds of school awards today. He's a good student, good child and they had an assembly and gave all the good students recognition. His pal Charlie Yo Yo got some awards too. I work with an Eddie Dum Dum. another long time friend is Waah Bang. Had another dwarf friend named Dallas Short. A high voltage overhead lineman I used to drink with is name Richard Shock. Names always catch my eye. Have a co-worker named Charlie Kawasaki. Always thought what a cool name. Walking around downtown London is a cool place on foot. Everyone proudly displays their name on their mailboxes on drip nickle plaques: "The Butley's" "The Bottoms" "The Dicks" 'The Azzmans" Bartender at one pub said the teenage daughters usually aren't "fond" of the names, but in spite of the friction, the familys have an historic past, hence they don't want to break the link, so they hold onto the names. My daughter held onto her moms last name, Turbo. Unusual and it fits her. 6 year old Maynard at Dumont after a long ride, collected some school awards today with his pal Charlie Yo Yo. Only 7 kids outta 100 got awards.
  22. 714 898 2049 Fullerton Sand tire will give you a good answer and a price quote. A bit pricey, ya may not buy from them, but their Scat track advise is right on correct. I think one of the owners rides an LTR with extremes. The Extreme is a very well made tire,, it really holds up.
  23. Saw one with sand tires and it did quite well.
  24. Got a good deal on a new Honda 250. It seems far nicer than the Zuki. It'll fit this kid perfectly. LA Cycle AKA OTD cycle is now a big sham. Their prices can be easily beat. They're running on fumes of an old reputation of low prices.
