Ill email you my story I encountered over thanksgiving weekend Terry. I noticed you didnt want it posted on the board. I did receive a ticket and didnt believe it was warranted. I thought they guy had a BIG chip on his shoulder. And I know coming from me thats saying alot, but he didnt even try and give me a warning. Needless to say I was PISSED

Its my understanding he will be charged, at least thats the recommendation of CHP to the DA's office. 1. Penal Code 192© PC Vehicular Manslaughter (Not Involving Drugs or Alcohol) California’s vehicular manslaughter laws punish acts of driving that kill another person because the driver drives in an unlawful way, drives in a lawful but dangerous way, or knowingly causes the accident for financial gain (which can also be prosecuted under California’s automobile insurance fraud laws).2 1.1. Examples Prosecutors are likely to charge you with Penal Code 192© if, for example, you killed another person while you were speeding,3 were texting or talking on your cell phone without the assistance of a hands-free device,4 drove into a crosswalk and killed a pedestrian (for example if you were making a right turn and only looked to your left for oncoming cars, neglecting to see the pedestrians crossing on your right),5 or were staging an accident that resulted in an unintentional death. If there is evidence that you were drinking alcohol or taking drugs…but hadn’t consumed enough to make you legally "under the influence"…this would be a more appropriate charge than Penal Code 191.5(b) PC California’s vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated law. <a name="1.2">1.2. Penalties Penal Code 192© vehicular manslaughter is what’s known as a "wobbler". This means district attorneys have the discretion to charge this crime as either a felony or a misdemeanor. They usually decide this based on the facts of the case, and your criminal history. If convicted of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter, you face up to one year in a county jail. If convicted of felony vehicular manslaughter, you face anywhere from two to ten years in the state prison.6

I thought I would give a little update on this. Its been a couple months now, still having a really hard time with this loss. I have been unable to return to the dunes yet. I know I will one day, but definately not on a busy weekend, for now. The CHP did finally finish their report recently and they are recommending the rail driver be charged with vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence. He wont do any hard time, but Im am glad he will be held accountable for his actions. Craig will get some kind of justice for losing his life because of someones wreckless driving.........

This story is really hard to hear after thanksgiving. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends involved in this tragedy. I cant imagine how long that wait must of felt for all involved with no help out there. I pray for some sort of peace and closure for all involved.

Terry Im in to work as usual this year. This will be my first trip back and more than likely its just going to be a day trip for me. But im there to do my part for Dumont. Just let me know what you need.

Let me just say there was no damn tunnel vision. Craig was in a line of quads. One second earlier it would of been his best friend Chris, one second later it would of been a 13 yr old kid. Craig had been riding for a very long time and was a responsible rider. Im not saying this was intentional, but it was STUPID on the rail drivers part and Craig lost his life because of it. And the comments made by the female passenger about sh*t HAPPENS, are you freaking kidding me???? Im just getting mad at this point and I do believe the driver should be held responsible. He got to go home to his family after this stupidity and Craigs family and friends have to find a way to move on without him.

Thank you so much for your kind words Terry (and everyone). I do know your right, he wouldnt want me to give up something I love and he loved. Really really hard right now with it so recent. I do hope to someday go back to dumont and toast Craig and celebrate his life. We all know on busy weekends its very dangerous. Im not blaming anyone here, just was looking for the facts in my recent posts. I dont think anyone intentionally did this. And Im sure whoever the driver was will have to live with this the rest of their life and that wont be easy either knowing they took someones life. I pray for strength and some kind of peace for Craigs family and friends affected by this.

I honestly at this point am not sure I can ever go back to Dumont. Really having a tough time with this tragedy.

OK IM BUMPING THIS BACK UP. HELP!!!! So my bike has been down for almost a year. I finally found an extended axle with huds on ebay for $205 including shipping. The ad said for a 250r OR 400EX. Well guess what, it didnt feed. Needless to say I NEED AN AXLE AND HUBS FOR my bike. Gotta get this up and running for dune season right around the corner. Trying not to spend an arm and a leg. Ive looked on ebay and craigs list. I do want an adjustable, to keep my plus two. ANY HELP YOU CAN PROVIDE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!! Thanks DDR!!!

Im done with dunes for the season. Made it out a few trips, but didnt get to ride at all with a broken quad. Its time for lake/river season! Better dune season next season for me!
