Well we finally got a chance to help out in the pits for a friend of ours that co-drives an Explorer in the BITD series. It was a lot of fun even though we spent a bunch of time working on the truck. We had to change the power steering pump and flush the fluid at two different pits. But it was a CV boot that got us in the end. We finally gave up at the halfway point in Tonapah not wanting to strand the race crew in the desert with no half shaft available. fctryblack84 took the following pics. Unfortunately our battery died before the Rhino's started coming through....sorry Kenny!!! Shortly after the above pic...someone got the bright idea to pull the radiator cap. It looked like a little volcano with the red antifreeze shooting out. The main driver and owner of the Explorer that we pitted for is paralyzed from the waist down and uses hand controls in his truck. He's pretty amazing and has a little to teach all of us. Here's a little info on him: Lance Magin is living his dreams. Despite an injury he received at the age of eighteen while motorcycle racing, the sport he loved most, Lance has proven that, “life is what you make it”. The first paraplegic to race in the Baja 1000, which he accomplished just one year after his accident and finished 2nd place in his class, Lance has since committed his life to demonstrating what people with disabilities can do. To help fuel his love for all things fast, Lance competes in the "Best in the Desert Off Road Series", racing a Ford Explorer in the 3000 class in which he finished first in points in the 2005 season. He was also the first paraplegic to obtain a NASCAR license and competed in the Super Late Model division until his love for the desert drew him back. Lance is always willing to take on new challenges when it comes to racing.

We're going for the same reason. I don't plan to stay for the whole race....I just wanted to see how the track and our seats are going to be for the Cup race. Then we're bailing early to beat the crowd out of there.

I read about that a while ago too.....I hear that's why the Indians are so protective of Sand Mountain in Nevada. They believe there is some mystic creature that lives there and makes that noise. I also read about some lost gold shipment buried under the Amargosa dunes!!

If I won that car I would start off with a mild stroke. Then when I got over that....I'd have to keep it. It would be a burden, but what's a guy to do?

Looks like a killer time. Maui's on our list of places to go someday. Seen a few racing rhino's this weekend in the Vegas to Reno race and thought about ya.......too bad the batteries died in the camera!!

Good point....but they will pass that right on to the taxpayers!! Gobmint at it's best!!

....and that's what you WERE doing!!
-
You're stronger than that.....

We hit Dumont about 5-6 times and the rest is in Amargosa!! I think we went to the dunes at least 12 times last season since we got our hauler at the beginning of Dec. We were going every other weekend until my wallet died.

Call made.....we have had SOOOOOO many problems with the school district here it's not even funny. Most don't notice the issues with the district until they become the victim!!! The horror stories about our kids being left behing are true......and then there's this political correctness BS that's really going to screw with their heads!!

Shery and I made it out of town last weekend to visit some good friends who live in Idaho Falls. We decided to make a road trip out of the weekend and put in over 500+ miles!! They live about 1 hour from St. Anthony so we started our trip there........ Greetings from St. Anthony!! Bear World was our next stop. ...then finally Yellowstone ...and a final stop at the Grand Tetons We had a blast cruisin through the National Parks and stopping for plenty of good beers along the way!!!

I know they scheduled a study......maybe they recommended shutting it down?????

I also find this very interesting....since I hope to be in the market for one someday. I appreciate this type of subject since I will be watching every $ if that day ever comes. However with the way prices are going.....who knows.

I finally got the scoop from a lady here at work on an incident with a trailer and it was so amazing I thought it was worth sharing. Apparently a car in front of them hit a deer and they attempted to miss the bottom half of the deer by swerving. Here it is in her own words: "Yes, it was quite scary! Chris had just installed a new towing package (dual CAM?) that probably saved our lives. Even with this new system, the trailer laid down on it's side and our F350 truck was up on 2 wheels. We had a Honda Goldwing in the back of the truck that didn't even get a scratch! Several witnessed said it was like someone reached down and put the trailer back upright... We have no doubt that, for whatever reason, it just wasn't our time!" I'm not sure what a dual cam system is...but DANG!!!! That's definetly a white-knuckle ride!! No E-ticket will get you that.
