  1. If you can watch those videos without getting a lump in your throat then theres something wrong with you. THANK YOU to all who have served and/or sacrificed for our Country.
  2. Does anyone have a line on Headers for a 2004 3.5 Honda? V-Tech doesnt have them (special order).
  3. There are to many people that were not there trying to play Mon. morning Q-Back. I was driving the blue car right behind Neil and had a great view of what happened. First, DaveH did stop for about 5 to 10 min. and made sure that every one was alright. Second, Neil and Dave were both at the top of the dune and Dave should have seen Neil and not come over the dune. Third, they were both going about 20 mph. Dave said at the scene that he tried to turn up and the tracks showed that he had tried to but the sand was very soft and steep Neil did turn down as soon as Dave came over the dune. Forth, it would have been nice if one of the cars that Dave was with would have come back to see if they could help. For the record Neil does not smoke but was just starting to have a very bad day. To the people that did stop and help us I offer my thanks. The Mighty Tracker was unbelievable, we would have had a much harder time without all of your help. Duners absolutely are some of the best people out there.
  4. The deadline for this is 6-1-09. They can be sent to the BLM Barstow Field Office 2601 Barstow Road Barstow Ca 92311 Att. Roxie Trost. Or Roxie_Trost@ca.blm.gov
  5. I will be there on Friday afternoon and can bring 2 tables as well as white paper to cover them so you can write on them. I do not have an ez-up. I also have extra clipboards. If I can help out with anything else I will.
  6. 3.85 In the north San Fernando Valley
  7. I asked Ms. Trost about the grant money for this season and she told me that Dumont Dunes got 0 dollars for the second year in a row for Operations and Maintenance. The BLM is hopeful due to the reworking of the way grant money is awarded that they will do better next year.
  8. Happy New Year :chug: :shout: :chug:
  9. If you are coming from LA you take the Barstow Road exit and turn right the BLM office is about 3/4 of a mile on the left. Vegas people will need to turn left on Barstow road.

  13. Craig, I appreciate your trying to find a solution I do not think that your idea will work because the people that are the problem do not think they will get caught. Look at the fireworks issue, it is illegal to set off fireworks at Dumont Dunes but there is no shortage of people doing it. Bob, I fully agree with the idea of bringing back the Dune Patrol and have brought it up more than once with the BLM and it hasn’t gone anywhere, I don’t have time to put it together and run it. Just to clarify an earlier point the 850,000 was the Operations and Maintenance Grant; the Barstow BLM did get some money from the OHMVR Commission but not for Operations & Maintenance.
  14. First off, we did not double the fees. The pass for all but 5 weekends went from 20 to 30 dollars and a season pass went from 60 to 90 plus 10 dollars per holiday weekend, none of this has put anymore revenue into Dumont Dunes as the BLM got 0 dollars from the state Green Sticker Grant Program. We lost 850,000 dollars in funding for this year and even with the aditional fees we still had to cut expenses. THERE IS NO EXTRA MONEY!
  15. Terry, You hit the nail right on the head. Remember that if you ask the BLM to fix your problem, they will, but you may not like their way of fixing it.
  16. Bob, Back in the 80's there was a dune all the way across the entrance, it was about 15 feet high and a razorback. It was taken out by the crew filming the opening scene of Another 48 Hours and was never put back.
  17. Thanks for starting this Woody . As soon as I get an agenda I will post it. I will be coming from Simi Valley and can bring a couple of people with me
  18. If you are comeing thru Barstow the price of fuel is cheaper there than Baker. Just north of Barstow(aprox. 10 miles) there is a Am/Pm and the L.V. truckstop in Yermo that is much cheaper than Baker.
  19. A slow and painful death is too good for that piece of sh!t. Tattoo BABY RAPER on his forehead and turn him loose in General Population.
  20. The road will be getting another layer of grindings this fall. We are second in line for grindings from the I-40 project (we were last in line last time) so we should be getting much better material. If you are looking for a smooth road that you can drive down at 35+ mph you will be disappointed, the biggest reason for the new road surface is dust control. :mc_smiley:
  21. Bob, That is where you are VERY WRONG. While you may not agree with what the BLM does, the Barstow Field Office does listen to us. When was the last time you talked to them?
  22. The "fence" that the BLM is talking about is called Post and Cable, so the only thing it will do is keep people from driving out of the open areas :shocked2:
  23. Jim, The fees do not have to be posted in the Fed. Reg. but they do need final approval from RRAC before they can be implemented.
