More people are comming to Dumont and leaving glamis because........GLAMIS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!! The amount of trash there is unreal. Oh yeah, litter tooooooooo. ITS AMAZING HOW 14 PEOPLE FROM 1 FAMILY can ride one 3 wheeler. ATC 185 s model...... The um lets say class of people going to glamis is getting lower and lower. I think alot of people like myself would rather drive the further distance and be around a better class of people. Not near as many FLATBILLERS in Dumont either. Dumont seems to be way more of a family place then glamis. I truly hope it stays that way.

You're not just a little biased are you???

Glamis gets a bad rap because most people go on big weekends, hence, the crowd is huge, crazier and more beer fueled. When you get that amount of people in the space provided, you are bound to have a bad feeling of the place. It's fun to go there, but for me, Dumont is the prime dune spot.

Exactly. When I go to Glamis you can bet it won't be on a holiday weekend for sure. :bawl: no thanks

I was gonna see if a couple other Glamis regulars wanted to go as well. I'd really like to do a trip with Mike330R leading a buggy ride there. We'll get more details together closer to December. I know wingnut and ynot wanted to do a trip next season fr sure. Either way- I AM gonna do a trip this year :bawl: unlike some past years when I have just talked about it.

My first Glamis experience was like this --> :laughoff:

It was in the mid to late 90's....I slept in the back of my truck off of Gecko Rd and couldn't believe the $hit I saw throughout the night! Lots of fire lit hills with bikes running through the fire.....a bright glow from a magnesium block was burning and they didn't stop riding all night long!!! Not to mention the nude ladies riding around on couches that were being pulled behind trucks! :laughoff:

However, there are dunes for miles!!! whoop.gif:laughing:

I keep saying that I'd like to take a week trip there since I have my own toys and hauler now.......

This picture here is worth a thousand words yet it leaves me speechless!

Guys,

We / our group does around 5 trips a year to ISDSRA / Glamis. We have camped on Gecko, in the Flats, the Washes and further down south...Gordon's Well & Buttercup. Usually Thanksgiving and the week between X-Mas & New Years is at Gordon's Well. It is a better family atmosphere. However, we do a "boys" weekend at the begining of each season, kind of a shakedown run, and stay at the pads on Gecko. The other couple of times a year we go we stay in the washes. Usually 10 or higher. The further in you go, the less people / A$$HATS. It's just like Havasu, if you want to part of the party scene, you go where everyone else is. If you want to ride and camp with little or no problems, you find a more secluded area. I have only been doing this for 10 years now....I guess I'm a newbie. We have never had any problems camping or riding at Glamis other than noise late into the night. Just my :laughoff: worth.

If your new to glamis and you want to camp in the wash's get as close to the dunes as possible before your rig gets stuck... Listening to that damn train roll by every hour on the hour gets old fast :D

I don't recall stating that it sucked. Just an experience that is easily comparible to what we know of the Dumont experience. Just trying to show how wild Glamis is compared to Dumont. I don't think Dumont will ever get that wild! I hope......

oh I know. I didn't mean to say you were saying it sucked...that's just what I have heard from some others. I just didn't know how to put it at the time. You get my point though.

and yeah....as much as that sounds badass- I too hope Dumont never gets like that. The stripper pole and girls dancing on the bar at comp was enough. :laughoff::laughoff:

You're not just a little biased are you???

Nope, not biased at all. I am actually alot closer to glamis than dumont. But with all the stupidness that occurs out at glamis. Ill take dumont Hnads down. If people want to go see naked chicks etc..... Go to the strip clubs. Lets keep the dunes FAMILY FRIENDLY. Lots of people that dont even have sand toys show up out at glamis just to party. Im sure it happens at dumont to, But hardly at all. And yes, we get more than our fare share of FLATBILLERS out at dumont. I sure wish they would join the glamis flatbiller club and go away. Humm after reading what I just wrote, Maybe I am a little biased.

I've been going to Dumont since the 80's. Back then the dunes seemed really big, but then there was a lot more area that we could ride in. The amount of HP those old three wheelers had made getting up the dunes a challenge. I do miss the good old days.

We were at Glamis this last New Years Weekend and had an awesome time. It was very packed, but the dunes there are spread over such a large area it didn't seem as busy as Dumont to me. Most of the a$$hats and flatbillers hang out at OLDS HILL. It is entertaining to go there and watch everything go on. I have always camped at wash 13 as the garbage flats and gecko road are always packed. The washes also seem to be a little quieter IMO.

:)

There you go. At least youre honest. Thats huge A+ in my book !!!!

Glamis is no where near what it was a few years back. With all the problems at least. It is very family oriented. I take my family 95% of the time. Last season we spent about 60 days in glamis. The best time to experience Glamis is to roll in Sunday morning about noon. and stay all week. By monday morning youll just about have the place to yourself. minus a few diehards. Its so nice and peaceful there during the week. I would not go between Christmas and New Years , there will be a Ton of rigs out there with no room to park.

My advice if you do go in between holidays or on the weekends, BTW there is no such thing as an off weekend anymore. :D Stay off of sand hwy and away from OLDS and comp hill, go south towards China wall, you find the most rightous dunes with very few people, and when you do see people they are usually experienced and very friendly. I have not been to Dumont yet, but I hear it is a fun place. it's about the same distance for me as driving to Glamis , so it's hard for me to justify. Also I keep my Toyhauler out at Glamis in storage 10 miles form the dunes. If you still don't want to go to Glamis, thats fine. Less people more uncrowed dunes for me. :D Peace out Shawn
