  2. I shot and edited this one of him at Banshee Wars 2 or 3. That was me asking him what is that bottle Lol He was fast http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Podos-R...-Wars_44735.htm
  3. Very nice ride Joe. Congratulations. Looks really good!
  4. Good one Capt. Getting that one done this weekend now.
  5. Solar panels are trick! Very nice
  6. Im thinking October will be a 2 trip month. Once for Halloween and then earlier in the month for a pre-Halloween trip. Then a couple weeks later for the post Halloween trip.
  7. I just started diagraming it out. Looks like some of the Xantrex have built in auto sensing for shore power and will switch automatically. Also will auto start the generator if the batterys fall to a certain level. So im still playing with schematics before I come up with a plan.
  8. I ended up going that route also. Put a winch in under the first step leading up to the bedroom. Just pull her in backwards. Works great.
  9. 8-6 volts wow. What is the main advantage of switching to 6 volt batterys? Longer life? More amperage?
  10. I am starting to research which manufacturer and what size inverter to put in my toy hauler. Just curious which ones people are running and which ones to stay away from. Are there any key features that are a must have on the inverter. Are you running them with a 2 battery setup or is anyone running them with a 4 battery setup? Anyone running a solar panel to them? Any tips to the install?
  11. Had a great weekend at Dumont. It was really nice to meet Eddie, Ken, Chad, & JJ. Thanks to Pete for for leading such a nice dune ride! Made it a lot easier trying to get some seat time in the new buggy. I got lazy with taken pics but here is two from the north pole. Thanks again guys and Im sure I will see all of you again come October.
  12. I have a Honda 4500 Watt/30 amp, if you want me to bring it. You could at least run one AC unit off of it. http://www.hayesequipment.com/ex4500.htm There is the specs. in case you need an adapter plug
  13. Sweet. Were rolling out at noon tomorrow. Should pull in at 4:30-5:00.
  14. I really dont know but Ill throw up a couple ideas to check. Are you getting an error code (if its an Onan)? I had a similar problem last year where it would sputter and then die after 15 minutes. The blinking light was the error code. I looked it up and said it was a varying voltage. So I checked all the connections and the battery posts were oxidized. I cleaned them really good and the blades and that fixed my problem. By chance is the altitude adjustment wheel set for anything above 0 feet? Does the automatic choke lever move after it is running? Maybe its stuck in the on position?
  15. Dinner at Al's :beer_bang: We will be there at 7:30
  16. Bathroom 6 would be great. Would love to join the camp. I just cant go into soft sand or I will get stuck. Will have two other rigs coming with me. so 3 rigs total. As soon as you know if Al the bbq guy is going or not, please let us know. If we know for sure he will be there, we will eat there for sure. 6 big eaters in our group for saturday night.
  17. Were rolling out friday afternoon. Look forward to seeing everyone out there.
  18. Is there anyone going for the weekend or is this just a one night event and everyone leaves in the morning?
  19. Thanks. I just figure I'd post these projects up...maybe it will help the next guy that has to do it. Or at least give them ideas on how to do it. Tim got me thinking about those invertors and now I need to research and install one for my next project Cant wait till October to start the season !
  20. I had a small pin hole in my gas tank for the fuel pump station on my weekend warrior. I tried JP weld and it would fix the leak for about 2 months and start leaking again. Called around and found a local radiator shop that would weld it if I brought it in. I was not happy with the performance of the pump station. It would take me 15 minutes to fill up a 5 gallon jug of gas. Started to think that to fill up the rail (20 gallons), it would take me an hour. I looked around and found out that the stock Carter Fuel filter is rated (new) at 72 gallons per hour at 6 psi. I wasnt even getting that kind of flo rate. So I ordered up a Mallory fuel filter that flows at 250 gallons per hour at 18 psi. While the radiator shop had the fuel tank for repair, I had them weld me up a spare hose adapter at the top of the fuel tank to accomadate a by-pass hose. With the added pressure, the pump needs to divert the fuel back into the holding tank when it isnt pumping. Any way here is some pics of the upgrade. Now I can fill the rail in under 5 minutes. The old carter and fuel filter on the right. New Mallory and filter on the left. New setup installed
  21. Just a friendly reminder to service your generator this off season. We tend to run our generators for long hours and forget about them. I just changed the oil and filter in mine and it looked a bit "used". Whole job took 20 minutes. Would hate to hit the season this October and have it fail out there. If you have a toy hauler or RV with an Onan.... You can order the filter directly from them and they will ship it to you. Here is their website. http://www.cumminsonanstore.com/
  22. I installed a 4000 lb Warn winch with wireless remote control. Figured that way I could sit in the car and pull it in backwards while I'm in the car steering. I put it under the first step leading up to the bedroom in a Weekend Warrior 5th wheel. There is a little switch on the left that allows me to manually operate the winch in case the remote fails. I cut and placed a 2 x 8 piece of wood along the back to add support for he lid of the step. Mounted the remote holder on the side also so I dont lose it. I also added guides on the bottom of the step to hold it in place so it doesnt slide once in place. I cut out the wood to allow the lead line through the step in front. Then cut a flap for the carpet and placed velcro on the flap to try and hide the opening when not in use. Added some toggle switchs to de-activate the winch when not in use and a toggle switch to de-activate the CO2 sensor because it gets set off when the buggy is running inside the trailer. All I have left to do is install the carpet on the step. On the bottom of the trailer, I had to drop the fresh water tank to add some support from the bottom. I used a 1/4' solid steel plate (12 x 12) and sandwiched 3/4" plywood (painted) in between the cross beams. Then re installed the fresh water tank. They gave me some short 6 gauge wire with the winch, so I bought some 4 gauge and ran it through the under the sink and through the storage compartment. Housed it in some track pvc and to the front area where the batterys are. Here I mounted the relay that came with the winch and connected the control lines & power lines. Connected to the battery and good to go. Gave it a trial run and pulls the buggy in like a champ.
  23. I am putting one in this weekend. Have a WW 5th wheel and I am putting it under the first step leading up to the bedroom. Ill take some pictures of the finished job and post them up when Im done.
