  1. Nice Pics Pete. Sand looks awesome and all the colors of spring out there. Sweet!
  2. If you have a PC, Im not sure. On the Mac, I just plug it in via the USB port. Comes up on the desktop as a memory device and I drag and drop the files from the camera to the desktop. Then just import the quicktime files into my editing application.
  3. I think I would be in also. Ill call him tomorrow. Has anyone ever used the Circus Circus KOA grounds in vegas? Is it pretty easy to get a 60 foot rig in and out of? Ive got to be in vegas that whole week for a trade show, and I could hit Dumont on the way back for the suspension tuning day.
  4. Pat I have the Gopro HD Motorsports Hero. I believe that is the same as most of the guys out here. http://www.goprocamera.com/index.php?area=2&productid=30 The camera has 5 user selectable settings for its raster size & frame rate. This setting will also determine how wide your angle of view is. 1080p = 1920x1080 pixels (16:9), 30 fps, 15 Mbit/s data rate 960p = 1280x960 pixels (4:3), 30 fps, 12 Mbit/s data rate 720p = 1280x720 pixels (16:9), 60 fps, 15 Mbit/s data rate 720p = 1280x720 pixels (16:9), 30 fps, 8 Mbit/s data rate WVGA = 848x480 pixels (16:9), 60 fps, 8 Mbit/s data rate I had the camera set to 1080p for this footage. If you set the camera to 1080p you will get a 127 degree wide angle. If you set the camera to WVGA, 720p or 960p you will get a 170 degree ultra wide angle. Its user selectable. As a comparision, this footage was shot at 760p with 170 angle of view. Same exact camera and mount on my car. Look how much more of the hood, tire and suspension you can see. Also the people in front of you seem further away.
  5. Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching.
  6. All the POV in car shots were with the standard Gopro HD in 1080/30 p mode. You get a wider angle if you shoot in the 720 p mode. The exterior shots were with a Sony EX1R video camera.

  8. Friday was beautiful and we got a really nice ride in with Terry (Ynot) leading us through the dunes. The wind on saturday didnt really kick up till later in the afternoon and was brutal windy at night. Sunday we got some more good rides in with Jodi and Mike. Here is a time lapse video of registration on saturday morning before the winds picked up. Halfway through it a helicopter comes flying in and lands on the little dirt hill by vendors row. Was a private heli, the guy just flew in to visit friends. Was pretty cool. <object width="853" height="505"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="853" height="505"></embed></object>
  9. What I am hoping to see friday morning when I wake up
  10. Steve I told these guys that Im bringing that you are a Famous quad stunt rider and that you have mastered a ton of tricks. Video cameras will be rolling
  11. Sounds good Terry. I didnt think I was going to get to make it and schedules changed so Ill be there. Im bringing a few of my customers/friends that have never been to the dunes or been in a sand rail. So hopefully they like it. They will either have big smiles on there face or motion sickness bags in hand Either way, we will come by on friday. Dune riding in smooth sand sounds soooooo good.
  12. Were pulling in Thursday night and staying till sunday noon ish. Rumor has it the sand is smoooooooth Pictured below is a sample of freshly wind blown groomed Dumont sand.
  13. I have had an iphone for almost two years now. Coming up on my renewal or exit plan. Happy with the phone but I hate ATT and want to switch to Verizon. Curious if anyone has tethered the Droid to their computer? Is it tetherable?
  14. How about one of these. Its only 2140 lbs dry weight. It would hold 1 quad and has all the creature comforts. Even with 50 gallons of water, a quad, food, cloths, etc etc.. You probably be at 3800 lbs loaded. http://dunesport.com/view_toy_hauler.php?orderid=226076
  15. Could be the year. Mine is a 2005. The GVWR(ating) on the side of the trailer has it listed at 15,000. They may have changed it on newer models. When I bought it 2 years ago, I was concerned if my class C license was sufficient to tow that big of a trailer. I went to DMV and went down to the CHP office in town and asked them. The local CHP captain told me they go by the GVWR(ating) sticker on the trailer. Mine says its rated at 15,000 even so all I needed was the endorsement with a class C license. Knowing that, I opted for the endorsement instead of the non commercial Class A. The ironic thing about ratings is that manufacturer can pretty much put whatever they please. Since they are used for recreation, I believe they put lower GVWR's in order to lower their exposure in case people overload them. I have a Freightliner Sport Chassis truck. Front axle is rated at 8000 lbs and the rear axle is rated at 17,500 lbs. Yet their GVWR sticker says 19,000 lbs. Same axles and same frame as their commercial mid duty line rated at 26K. But since it is typically used in a non commercial application, they put the lower GVWR rating at 19k. The driver still has some exposure if they weigh you and your over your rating. But all of my research has shown all they are concerned with is the gross rated weight for your license. Bottom line is if your sticker says its rated at 16K, you need a non commercial A in cali to be legal. If it says 15k or less, you can get by with the endorsement.
  16. Weather forecast is looking perfect for the weekend. :ahhhhh:
  17. In California, if your GVWR is 15,000 or under (which my WW 40 footer is), you only need the 5th wheel endorsement with your class C license. To get the endorsement, you need to pass the Non commercial A written test. Its free at DMV. If your GVWR is over 15,000, you need a non commercial A license. Just look at the Tag on your 5th wheel to determine what your GVWR is.
  18. Found a couple more I liked and thought I would upload them.
  19. I found this pic from prez weekend 2010. If you lose a wheel in the dunes, you can add weight in strategic places to get back to camp.
  20. Anyone going? Im gonna be out of town the following weekend so thinking of going March 4-7.
  21. We were camped just past bathroom 3 and that was the finger dune right by our camp. he was getting huge air.
  22. Couple Video Clips I shot out at Dumont over Presidents day weekend <object width="853" height="505"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="853" height="505"></embed></object><object width="853" height="505"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="853" height="505"></embed></object>
  23. They negotiate. I picked up 4 for 215 each. Im sure the 4cts are quite a bit less. The 6cts are 90 lbs each. I had to weld up support bracing just to handle the weight.
  24. Mark, I would defineatly go with the 6 volts. They are true deep cycle batteries and are made to charge and discharge many times. They have much bigger plates. They make many different types and I went with the Lifeline batteries. They more expensive but they are suppose to last longer (7years). They are maintenance free sealed batteries. No filling, no leaking or sweating. You never have to fill them. And they are not messy like the old style wet acid cells. I went with the 6cts. If you have the room, they are rated at 300 amp hours each. They are A(bsorbed) G(lass) M(at) style batteries and they love to be slammed with 100 plus amps on recharge. http://www.lifelinebatteries.com/rvflyer.php?id=15 They have the smaller 220 amp hour ones also if you have limited space.
