  1. Timothy say hallo to Danny for me heck, im afraid of speed as well. im just a regular guy that likes to drive around and have fun . to be honest; i think driving Ryans car would scare the shiat out of me IMHO Ryan is a very talented driver (maybe sometimes a little over-agressive :beer_bang: ) and im positive he can handle his very high HP car..... its more the guys with the fast cars that think they are good drivers that i fear.....the wannabees or hasbins or neverbeens (sp?...sorry, my spelling sucs) for me a TOP 10 car is a car with a good driver in it... regardless of the HP to show off good driving skills you dont always have to be fast; a good driver knows when to go slow as well (like in camp)
  2. why split? .... Ryans car is at the top of my top 10 ...(maybe im a little biased ) i think many will ask why so much engine, why so much hp, why try to go 200 in a buggy, why..... IMHO the answer is a simple one: for the challenge of it George Mallory, mountaineering legend, answered similarly when asked why he climbed mount everest: because it was there
  3. AMEN to that ....would be on page 4 and LOCKED; too many ego problems and personal attacks
  4. yeah.... even lowered to the weeds and with skinny tires the car is still about as aerodynamic as a barndoor my biggest concern is the front end "lift" of the skidplate...... maybe we need to fab up a air dam or nose wing
  5. Craniacs hit the nail on the head here ^^^^^^...... IMHO the biggest problem of dumont is that it is in califreakinutsfornia :xmas1: .... dumont gets more crowded every year ( and i DO NOT like that glamis crowd .... you know, the ones with a big checkbook but no brain ) .... if everything works out i will most likely move to southeast Idaho this spring or summer: 2h away from little sahara....2.5h to st anthony and only off-season trips to dumont

    V-Rex

Pete i edited your post for you Ryan never makes any pics or video .....i would kill for a video (with dolby surround) of V-Rex on the dyno at Wf.....gOT
  7. i sure as hell know some guys that fit this category perfectly :mc_smiley:
  8. racegirl04 is right; the water is not always available the BLM is actually hauling the water there by truck so they ask camp users to be moderate with water usage i have seen the rangers (rightfully ) nearly throw a guy out of the camp for filling a inflatable pool for his kids :mc_smiley:
  9. Kitcat Little Sahara is really a great place to go the riding is very technical and the area is HUGE !!! (the actual open riding area is a lot bigger then glamis....and less crowded) there are 3 main camp areas ; i like the Oasis (shade, big parking spots, nice restrooms and water) sand mountain is too crowded for me (i dont need the hillshooting noise all day long ) white sands is very secluded but also very sandy (no problem if you have a 4wd towrig) check out this link: Dunereview great pics and all the info you need

    V-Rex

hmmm interesting news: just got informed by Ryan that V-Rex is right now in a tuning session with a different tuner (IIRC the one that awakened T-Rex already) .....and the results are eye-opening : the car went from acting like a Pudel to being a charging Bulldog ....something like 800+HP on the rear tires........thats well past 1000 hp on the crank.........at only 10 psi boost! ....and pump gas! im so happy for Ryan that his dream is now reality
  12. oh ow .... 12', long travel, 4 seater..... that will be very hard to find the 4 seater i build are one of the shortest around (front engine, 130" wb and no overhang front and rear) and are just about 14' bumper to bumper IIRC a Funco is just a little bit longer then 14'

thanks Pete for that video its nice to finally see Ryans beast running ...........we all put so much sweat , blood and tears in it
  16. if i have to do big cuts (like cutting a Peterbilt truck cap in half ) i use a "dry" cut diamond blade (same as for cutting ceramic tiles) in a 4.5" angle grinder......works very fast (watch your fingers :argue: ) oh yes; dont be as silly as me .....: use a mask!!
  17. Craig if you have fab skills there is another type of automatic that may works for you (if you like a well turning/budget/mid engine/mid travel dune car ) : some 10+ years ago i build a small and light 2+2 seater with a little screaming 1.8L MPFI DOHC / 4-speed auto out of a totaled Escort GT (same engine as mazda miata) that i got for $1000 i mounted the complete (and only about 24" long!) FWD transversal (sp?) inline 4 engine and trans subframe in the rear of the buggy, replaced the steering with solid links and fabricated A arm/coilovers to replace the struts. the complete buggy was only ~ 105" WB with no overhangs front and rear and turned/duned like a dream !!! my front suspension was a outdated design with only little travel ....but if you build it with a modern A-arm/coilover frontend and a late model FWD package (~300 HP and 5/6 speed auto ) you may end up with a very quick (and cheap) buggy that will be a blast to drive..... stephan
  18. strange here is another one that fuc*s with your brain http://forums.streetfire.net/attachment.ph...ntid=4702&stc=1

  20. Steveo get the Monster Manx :shocked2: i personaly dont like the front view for duning but IIRC the fenders can be removed kinda easy ?!? its fairly easy to get a MM street legal....that opens a lot of new ways to have fun with your investment

    V-Rex

Thanx Pete actualy working on it will be very easy (Ryan made that very clear when we started to "brainstorm" V-Rex together ) all the panels, floor boards, skidplates and heat shields around and under the engine will be removable (i use everywhere the same size stainless allen head bolts that go in tabs with weld-on nuts) i duno about re-inventing ...but a lot of details on V-Rex are kinda new on a sandrail. i replaced lots of tubing with "formed and welded-in-place" steel plates ....the idea of this "monochoque" design is not new but you dont see it very often on rails. i just finished the exhaust trim ....(i put lots of hours in that detail ) i kinda wanted a twin gun barrel look....the rings around the exhaust tips are actualy a short slice from a 5" semi truck exhaust pipe the mufflers will be completely enclosed and the rear sway bar will run inside the rear "bumper" still lots of work left :headbang: ....but im having fun
  22. tell your Pilot (dad) i look forward to meet him....i love talking about trucks too
  23. Copilot like this; -_- ....or Copilot like this; ??? just kidding ...hope to may see you and your Pilot at Dumont to chat a little about Trucks
  24. semi ..... thats just a ol White/Volvo J/K very nice!!! ....what trans/engine is in it? are that steel rears? if they are 22.5er i may have some nice used Alcoa rims for you :headbang: ....and also tires if you need some (i got lopros and tall ones) we are going to switch to tall 24.5er on our Pete
