  1. Yeah, opinions are like a$$holes...Everyone has one. My dad is a Ford man. Loves the 460 gas V8 and would never buy a diesel. I get ripped all the time because I drive a Dodge with a Cummins. My truck gets twice the mileage towing and the engine should last twice as long, but I'm the dumb one here? :porn:
  2. I run Helium in my truck tires. It lightens the truck by about 40 lbs and gets me better fuel mileage.
  3. That is effin scary. We used to party up on Sunrise mountain in the desert and now all of that is homes. Our other party spot was Boxcar Cove at Lake Mead. :icon_twisted:
  4. That's fun. I used to race at their old location when they were at Nellis and Sahara. I still have my slot cars around somewhere but haven't raced since '94. I do remember their blue "king" track.
  5. Here is my favorite pic from Christmas Day:
  6. But a Quadzilla is a classic. I get asked questions about it whenever I ride. And its still faster than a stock 450. BTW, if you're going with black plastics some silver ghost flames would be sick on that thing. A twin headlight setup would be cool too. Have you seen the Quadzilla buildup on offroad.com?
  7. CT Racing does good work from what I hear, so you should have a very good quad when you get it finished. If you don't mind me asking, what did it run for an engine rebuild with them? With the mods you have, you should have one of the faster quads out there. With mine, I do get beaten by the 450's with built motors at the drags. But I couldn't even buy a new quad for the small amount of money I'm into this one, so I'm OK with that. Even after losing a drag race up Olds Hill at Glamis, I had women asking me for a ride up the hill on the back of mine.
  8. With an alarm, how much current does that draw off the batteries when it is armed? I do have a small solar panel to keep my batteries topped off, so I guess it can't be too much of an issue. I suppose I would need battery backup since my batteries are mounted on the tongue of the trailer and can easily be disconnected. I suppose a "PROTECTED BY SMITH AND WESSON" sticker on the back of my toy hauler might not be a bad idea either.
  9. Fortunately, I haven't had anything stolen, but with the rash of thefts going around I am a little worried. I was wondering what measures you have taken to protect your property, such as toyhaulers and quads, etc? On my toyhauler I bought the hitch lock and ran a cable that is locked to some D-hooks through the quads. But that doesn't seem like enough. I am thinking that one of those wheel locks like parking enforcement in some cities use would work very well as they prevent the vehicle from being moved. I know those things cover up the whole wheel where it can't be removed and are nearly impossible to defeat. I will post a pic of one up if I can find one on the net. I park where the back door of my toyhauler is against a block wall so this would work great for me. I am also thinking Lo-Jack might be a good idea, as the thieves don't know it is there and I can track it if it is ever stolen. Hopefully the police find the theives before I do. I'm just wondering what the cost of Lo-Jack is and if anyone has ever installed it on their toyhauler?
  10. I haven't done any engine work to the quad yet. It had super low hours on it when I bought and it is still on the original top end! I have only changed the fluids in the engine so far. The old guy I bought it from had it almost the whole time and only rode it a couple times a year. He got too old to kick start it and decided to sell it and his wife's. My friend bought his other Quadzilla. I replaced the plastics with factory Suzuki ones since they were faded and cut the front fenders. I did add the FMF pipes and jetted the carb. It already had a K&N filter on it. I added the DG Nerf Bars and front bumper, Armadillo swingarm guard, twist throttle with Fly Grips, new Renthal bars, steering shaft (his wife rolled the quad and bent the old one), Cascade Designes seat, Sand Shark Paddles on ITP Wheels, and the flag quick disconnect. I've had this Quadzilla for a couple of years now and it has never let me down. I don't plan to do any more upgrades to the quad as money is a little short right now. I'm just hoping I won't have to sell this bike in the winter when business is slow. The bills seem to outpace the raises. My other option is to sell the Z400, but I really love that quad too. I see yours is a 1987 with the six bolt head. I'm guessing you know about the head gasket issue with that year and are running the Cool Head? Did you have a shop build the engine for you? If so, did they do anything about the crank bearing issue with these engines? If you need any help with parts or advice let me know. I have spares and have found better prices on the net than at the local dealers. I owned an 87 and another 90 before this one so I am quite familiar with them. Post some pics up when you are done with it!
  11. It looks like its coming along nicely. Here's my 1990 LT500R...
  12. My exgirlfriend had a Jeep Liberty, but it wasn't a diesel. They are small and many times I thought we were going to roll the thing over (she was driving). They seem to hold up good, but I'm uneasy about small narrow SUV's so I drive a fullsize truck.
  13. I've been going to Dumont since the 80's. Back then the dunes seemed really big, but then there was a lot more area that we could ride in. The amount of HP those old three wheelers had made getting up the dunes a challenge. I do miss the good old days. We were at Glamis this last New Years Weekend and had an awesome time. It was very packed, but the dunes there are spread over such a large area it didn't seem as busy as Dumont to me. Most of the a$$hats and flatbillers hang out at OLDS HILL. It is entertaining to go there and watch everything go on. I have always camped at wash 13 as the garbage flats and gecko road are always packed. The washes also seem to be a little quieter IMO.
  14. What is turbo liner? I will be parking a car/motorcycle on this stuff so it has to be fairly strong. I don't think sheets of diamond plate are too heavy. My other option is to put more plywood down and paint it.
  15. Yes, I'm in Vegas. I'll check out Steel Engineers. Thanks
  16. I just bought a nice used Haulmark Racecar trailer. Unfortunately, it is not one of those pimped out ones with the nice flooring like I really wanted. It has plywood on the floor which I want to cover up, and I am thinking diamond plating would be cool. Just wondering if anyone knows the best place to get some sheets of it or can get me a deal on some. Thanks
  17. OK, why is a 2008 Super Duty already in the shop? This can't be good for Ford. :mc_smiley: IMO, Ford should pull out of the light-duty diesel truck market until they have this figured out. Their gas engines are just fine and they would save millions in warranty repairs on the diesels. I don't have any problems with the Cat and Cummins engines in their medium duty trucks. In fact, I'd love to own an F550 with the Cummins engine.
  18. I guess the Infinity System is no longer available? I got the Infinity seven speaker system with the six disc in-dash cd changer. I love it. I actually had to turn the bass DOWN because it was too much! Never had that problem before with a stock system.
  19. I don't have the megacab but definately go for the Cummins if you can afford it. You not only get better mileage but better resale value on the truck down the road. If it was me I would even look at used trucks if you can find one. Used Cummins-powered Dodges seem to be hard to find on dealer lots.
  20. Gotta get some tint on my new car! I feel like I'm riding in a fishbowl. Who out here does a good job on window tint for a decent price? Thanks
  21. My 2005 Dodge Ram 3500. Silver is the best color...
  22. I know this doesn't pertain to those who live in California, but for us in Nevada the state is now requiring people to get a sticker for their OHV. I am trying to find out more information about this. If anyone can fill me in I'd appreciate it. Some of the dealers are supposedly giving them out if you show proof of ownership and that you paid SALES TAX. BTW, I'm wondering if getting the Nevada stickers will exempt me from having to get a CA Nonresident sticker to go to Dumont?
  23. Looks like another attempt by the greenie weenies to shut our sport down.
  24. Thanks. I love the classic quads from the 80's and early 90's. I ran against some Z400's from my camp and some Honda 400EX's and it was no contest. On the bigger weekends the faster quads come out and I have gotten spanked by them. I would like to run a Raptor 700 as it should be a close race. These new four strokes keep getting faster every year. I still love the Zilla as its wide and long. It loves the dunes. I only saw one Banshee the whole weekend. Where did all the two strokes go? Maybe this is a topic by itself.
