  1. I didn't get anything till after the race since my car broke down on the way there.
  2. One of Tatum. The Father son jumps were awesome.
  3. Wait till you see the pics I got of you guys jumping. That was me in the red rail. I stopped and grabbed my camera. I got great shots like those last three you have.
  4. I took this from the last row back. My camera was drunk and seeing double. just close one eye, lol.
  5. Anti freeze may not be a good coolant but it's an excellent preventer of engines breaking in half when the temps go below freezing. It gets into the teens here in the mornings.
  6. I also add 20-25% anti freeze.
  7. Pretty cool there is a gas cap on both sides. GLWTS!
  8. Yes I have and it works. They do dig in the sand so be aware of that. The guy that used them would winch his car in the trailer. If I remember right, his were two 3/4 inch plywood pieces sandwiched together.

    Huckfest 2014

Yea the King SST truck was pretty badass! I was impressed by it. Got some good shots of him too. I thought this year went smoother once it started. There were a couple of delays at the start but once they started jumping, they continued. Sure, they had to stop for busted trucks and a busted monster truck right in the launch path, but they continued right after. I still had to deal with the media box limits and associated enforcement Nazi but they did make it a little bigger than last year. I enjoyed it. Lots of videos and photos from the crowd are being posted. I only noticed one other photographer on the hill with me. The rest were there for video. Based on all the equipment and locations the video should be pretty sweet. Downside stuff: Such a lack of communication. So many messages I had went unanswered. It was sheer luck I was able to get in and I was invited media. Instead of an announcer with speakers they changed at the last minute to an FM transmitter. Not sure how many duners have a radio. They changed the rules as they went! I don't know why, but it affected some teams' strategies. Because of this, the sandrail winner, lost to the other guy. There was supposed to be a "Huckoff" at the end, a chance for every class to go for overall distance, didn't happen, sorta. Hard to explain due to lack of communications to us in the media. Next thing we saw was something called a 5 minute freestyle and an occasional run at the hill. Very confusing but it drove the media Nazi crazy and made for a better show, I liked it. I'm still going through the photos but they are great. Hope to have them done soon.
  10. Anyone here go to last weeks Huckfest? Curious what you thought about it. I was there also.
  11. Don't see to many buggies with rear A arms. Mine has them too and we live in the same town. It's a sign...
  12. OK good! I'm very interested in covering this. BTW, I have great shots of you, Adam, and Steve in Idaho. I've been holding them back as Sand Sports is working on a project for the Invasion. I'll have some of them available for you guys to check out soon. I don't know which of my work they are using yet. Just so you know, I haven't forgotten you guys.
  13. I'm interested in covering this for Sand Sports. Would I be able to get access for photos?
  14. I enjoyed the show. For me it was mostly face time with customers and selling myself to new ones. Also representing Sand Sports and Idaho Dunes RV. I think it went well. There were some very high end SxS's and rails there. Took a lot of photos. I did buy new harnesses from Crow for my rail since they had great prices and took advantage of some show prices from Lazer Star lights. I finally got a rear view mirror for my Rhino since I'm always looking for it while riding.
  15. Rail I use Mobil 1 turbo Diesel 5w-40. Same in the Manx VW motor. Shell Rotella T6 in the Rhino. Probably switching all to the Rotella soon so I only have to carry one brand.
  16. Perhaps Rod End Supply? www.rodendsupply.com 800 284-2902
  17. I met Bert the first time in person when he pulled up to tow me back to camp after my son and I were hit by another rail. It was as if he knew me already and no big deal, that's what we do. The thing is we hear that all the time but Bert lived it. I have seen him cut a ride short to go rescue someone in the dunes. I also always respected how he would fly the US flag high and proud and would light it up all night. I didn't know him as well as most here but enough to know we all lost someone special. We should name a hill or bowl after him.
  18. Thanks all, sending them the info.
  19. I spoke to the editor of Sand Sports today and gave him a little prelim feedback on what you all say so far. One thing that got my attention was Berts comment. I have heard this before from other forums. I personally don't think it is true. I specifically asked about this and what timeframes the magazine was at its "thickest." After some discussion, he is going to send me copies (about mid 2000's) and I will compare with the latest issue. We think, and I'll try to prove, that at that time there were more ads than today but the content (meat and potatoes) was the same. Should be interesting and will put this particular claim to rest, good or bad. Please keep your comments going. They really are listening.
  20. Their website www.sandsports.net has dune locations also.
