  1. The second shot tipped me off that you were using a small apeture. The starbust effect in the lights. That sign is just brite. The best way to solve it is to take two shots from the identical position and overlay them. Expose for the sign on one, then expose for the rest on the other. I'll do it in camera using the overlay function. You could also do it in photoshop. If you use a filter, everything on the filters dark side won't look right. Be sure to use the same apeture for both so the depth of field is the same. Also, try around F11 so that the diffraction isn't as bad. You could also do three exposures. One for the hotel lights, that way everything is perfect. Also, do this about 10 - 20 minutes after the sunset, you will have an awesome blue sky. I've done this with about six shots to get things the way I like it. Remember the Christmas photo in the dunes? That was about five. All done in camera. sh*t, giving away secrets.
  2. Pete, what apeture setting did you use? Nice. Vegas has the best night opportunities. Really nice portraits Eddy! Wish I could do more of those.
  3. Just though I would let you guys know that the article and photos from the ride should be in the issue released around July 17th. I included a bunch of photos so it will be a surprise to me also which ones get printed. One good thing is that this issue is the one that they give away free at the Sand Sports Super Show in September. If anything changes, I'll post an update.
  4. Don't know about Vegas but I always use Wright gearbox in Riverside, ca. http://www.wrightgearbox.com/

    Radio freqs

Anyone know what the most popular radio freqs are for car to car radios in the dunes?
  7. How much to ship to 93523? Perfect for my Manx.
  8. This bill has just been introduced to committee. If you want to make the greatest impact, the committee members need to be hit with emails voicing your concerns. Since it isn't with the general population of representatives, they have nothing to go on yet. The good news is that this is one of those committees that has more republicans than democrats and could make the difference. One of the members is Tom McClintock of California whom I happen to know as an outstanding conservative and has replied to me personally on issues in the past. Hit these members with an email and kill this in committee so it never sees the house floor. They are here: http://naturalresources.house.gov/about/members.htm
  9. This is ridiculous! I have to sit here and read about how your job is more dangerous than someone else's. Well let me educate you. Mine is much more dangerous. I have to sit here and deal with test pilots all day. Giant egos wanting stuff! Talk about stress! Gimme this gimme that, I can't print config sheets fast enough and those dam paper cuts hurt and I could get an infection and die. If I give him the wrong checklist for the aircraft type he might lose control and crash on my car. I live in fear every time I take a lunch. Constant yelling about shredding classified information. You need to see the military grade shredder we have, that sucker can eat a 3.0 King shock in 30 seconds. I got my sleeve stuck in it once and had it not been for the earthquake shutting off power, my call sign would have been Stubs. PTSD from that one! I can't exit on that side of the building anymore. I'm deaf from all the jet noise around here. I jump under my desk yelling "In coming" every sonic boom. Last week a piece of ceiling tile landed on my Pop Tart from a big Sonic boom. Now I call the Mesothelioma lawyers from the TV commercials just in case. Our roof leaks when it rains, no big deal huh, It's like a Chinese water torture. Try dealing with that threat when the weather man says rain on Wednesday and it's only Monday. Sleepless nights for sure. I could go on but I think you get the point.
  10. He isn't the only Gov employee affected by this. I'm on the DoD side of this. Expecting our 30 day notification next week sometime. Sarcastic "Yea!"
  11. I went out Saturday for a day trip. Pretty much spent the day by Banshee hill watching the drag quads. Did see Lou and a few DDR buggies zoom by at one point. Here are some shots I took. One of the jeeps attacking Banshee hill. Yes the BLM was out checking for registrations, stickers, Vin numbers, and anything else they felt like. Writing tickets too.
  12. This is true. 110 octane vrs 91 octane fuel are the same for energy output. One burns slower than the other for higher compression. If you use race gas in a stock motor setup for 91, you would need to change the timing to compensate. Waste of money.
  13. I'm going to come out on Saturday for a day trip.
