Had a great time last night, the wind made it a little cool but some great races. A buddy of mine, Mario Opipari races in the charger division and came from mid pack with a very clean pass on the leader and won the race way to go Mario!! I haven't been to the races in a long time and will have to go more often.

I think I will pass on the run tomorrow. I do have some things to take care of that I have been putting off to go duning. l also have to hire an employee and have a Local Assemblyman doing an event at the Maryland Parkway store that I should at least be in town for. If the cooler weather holds I would like to get one more weekend in or at least a day run with some other cars. Have fun, be safe!

What you don't call you don't write? I must be on the prez's bad side, he does not even let me know when he's going out for a day run? I am hurt and troubled by this situation.

I have e mailed him and called twice to get more info with no return calls or e mail back. I was beginning to think he was a flake. I would be very interested in the sat after Easter for him to tweak the suspension on my car. Terry

I would personallylike to thank every body who came out and supported the event. Also my thanks to my fellow Board of Directors of FoDD that drove all the way for the event and then either went home or on to Vegas for other adventures. Most of all I want to thank all the sponsors who in this tough economic times still reached into their pockets and gave something to reward the volunteers with, with out you we wouldn't be able to have an event like this. I am happy to say that we ended at 1:15 which is the earliest we have ever finished and as it turned out we timed it right as the wind blew like hell all afternoon and the rest of the night. Again thank-You to all that helped, Stacie, Jodi (for the donation also), Cathy Daglish and anyone else i am forgetting for the time and effort.I know Stacy drove out for the day just to volunteer her time, we appreciate it! Thanks Dave! Could you bring it over to the registration booth around 10ish in the morning on Sat?

You will see banners near Bathroom #6 for the registration booth along with 2 blue EZ ups with Friends of Dumont Dunes on them, that's the place. The time is 8AM for registration. The meet & greet is not my dept. The event should be over by 1 to 1:30 Due to the economy prizes for the raffle have shrunk this year. So bring your $20.00 bill to buy into the special raffle for the Peter Lik signed and numbered picture worth some major dollars to the winner or a real nice addition to the home decor! See you there!

Typical News story, they only highlight the things that will draw someone to read the article. No where do they say that over presidents day that there were est 20,000 people there and just these azz hats had to make us all look bad. It baffles me as to why anybody would dump there tanks on a public highway but I guess there enough of them out there that Law enforcement feels that they can justify all that manpower and equiptment for 20 tickets and 2 arrests. What's a copter's cost to fly to watch for azzhats dumping on the road $150.00 hour? I am tired of Tecopa's crying and I will at all costs refuse to go thru that shithole.

Got this forwarded to me today. It may explain the sudden upsurge in LEO activity in Tecopa; Tuesday, 23 February 2010 Image Recreators flock to the Dumont Dunes each winter, and some leave their garbage in Southern Inyo. Local officials recently orchestrated a sting to stop illegal dumping which resulted in more than 20 citations and two arrests. File photo By Mike Gervais Register Staff 2-23-2010 Local authorities teamed up last month to conduct a sting operation focusing on illegal dumping. Two were arrested in Tecopa on felony charges and several citations were issued for various lesser infractions. Sheriff’s deputies in marked and unmarked units and marked California Highway Patrol units, along with a CHP aircraft and Inyo Narcotics Enforcement Team members, joined forces on Jan. 3 and Feb. 15 to stop illegal dumping along Old Spanish Trail Highway in Tecopa. “A coordinated response was mobilized after the Sheriff’s Department received numerous complaints from residents regarding the dumping of sewage, waste water and trash along Old Spanish Trail Highway,” Sheriff Bill Lutze said. “This highway is used heavily by campers and off-highway enthusiasts traveling from Dumont Dunes to Las Vegas in the winter months.” According to CHP Public Information Officer Laura Roberts, the CHP helicopter served as a covert surveillance unit during the sting. She explained that having cars in the vicinity of the illegal dump sites could have tipped off offenders, but the helicopter can fly above the radar and catch illegal dumpers in the act. During the two operations, officers and deputies issued more than 20 citations for dumping waste, children riding illegally in trailers, out-of-class drivers and misuse of license plates (using license plates from other vehicles). Those caught dumping waste water from motorhomes and trailers were cited for a misdemeanor infraction. A total of three vehicles with registration violations were impounded in Pahrump, Nev. According to the Sheriff’s Department, Richard Laatz, 32, of Las Vegas, was arrested during the Jan. 3 sting when officers allegedly witnessed illegal dumping of sewage along the Old Spanish Trail highway. After making contact with Laatz, deputies searched his vehicle, allegedly finding a clear baggy of illegal mushrooms. Laatz was arrested for alleged possession of psilocybin and his vehicle was one of the three that were impounded. The second arrest took place Feb 15. According to the Sheriff’s Department, Steaven Bradbandt, 51, of Perris, was taken into custody for alleged felony alteration of vehicle registration, carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a loaded firearm. According to the Sheriff’s Department, the recent sting and resulting arrests should stand as a warning to motorists and recreators in Southeast Inyo. “The actions of the travelers in this area will be monitored and another coordinated response will be mobilized if necessary,” Lutze said.

Apparently the lady that pretty much owns all of Shoshone is the daughter of some Ca. political biggie and has lots of control in Inyo county. I would be willing to bet she is behind this as she is very sierra clubish and is a part of the Armagossa river conservatory

I DO NOT AGREE WITH ANYTHING THE ACLU DOES but here is a pretty accurate video on your rights as a citizen in a traffic stop; I think the truth is that someone is putting pressure on Inyo county to stop traffic on the old Spanish Trail (Tecopa Road) this can be done by not going that way and go through Baker or Pahrump. 15 minutes longer going either way is actually shorter than being stopped every time you go through that s@@@ hole Just my opinion.

Sorry folks about the delay on the info of the sub group meeting but my plates been a little full. So here goes. Their will be a post and cable fence around certain areas of protected areas near the dunes. The fence will start over by the mines and come around the Salt Creek Mountain and come back towards South Pole however it will not lock us out of any ridable areas. It is only to protect a designated protected area that has been intruded on very heavily. BLM maint. will be putting this up and we probably won't see it for another year. They have also agreed to leave a walking cut in the fence line for people who want to walk up to the crosses on the hill but you will not be able to get there by OHV. This should entail about 6 miles of fence. The other 3 miles will be over by the TRT rail bed and continue down that line which is the out of bounds barrier. It will then curve out past the North Pole and come back towards the South pole following the existing boundary line. We are not losing any area and it is only to keep people who can't read or disregard clear out of bounds lines from riding out towards the little dunes that are N/E of the North Pole. We were lucky in my opinion to be able to guide BLM into placing the fence where we would rather have it instead of their original plan which was along the back boundary between the North and South pole. So we were able to at least put it where we feel it will do the most good to keep the illegal access to a minimum and if your caught inside the fence I don't think your going to have an excuse your going to get cited and possibly impounded. Other items covered were that we recommended that at least 2 pass machines remain at the entry point after the machine lease is up. They will only accept credit/debit cards and will be for weekly passes. They will also in all likelihood will be more expensive than if you buy them off-site. It has always been BLM's plan to get away from dealing with cash and this will allow us to be able to still make purchases of passes if we forget or for whatever reason you didn't pick one up in Baker, LV etc. It is a good compromise in my opinion. Other items were that the attendance at the dunes is down substantially from last year and appears to be an impact of our country's economic woes. If I left anything out please let me know Pat, and Dave and Mrs Dinacolada who by the way were the only 3 guests that showed up on a Sat. open meeting. We think we will be able to get another Sat. meeting before next season begins but if we get the same turnout you will not see a Sat meeting again. BLM and other people who have Saturdays off don't really like attending on the weekend and I don't blame them. Terry

A little over a year ago the rules were changed to cover Glamis and Dumont, thus making the rules the same for both areas changed the burning of wood with nails(glamis) and the dumping of grey water(dumont) along with a coupe of other rules that were different are now the same. Therefore the dumping of grey water which is full of bacteria from the tank illegal at Dumont. It has always been illegal at Glamis.
