  1. Yea true true for sure. Just think of all the "Almost" crashes you see on the hills. I saw a ton that could have been very nasty and it was just luck of a few inches that some cars didn't hit head on. Head on a swivel is most important. Ill have to check out the trans, he says it a Mendiola 4D I might have got it wrong with the MD4 post. Ill make sure it def not a E box though. I doubt it is since its a pretty nice car but who knows. Ill post it up with info when/if I get it, my eyes are set on this car but if anyone knows of a sweet 4-5 seater long travel let me know.
  2. Sold my red long travel rail (in my sig) a few months ago, it was finally all beefed up with gussets, bigger spindles and more ("Newly Proof" as some friends say) but still had the weak loud 200hp Rotary motor which I wasn't very fond of. I didn't want to back half the car and put all the money into a v6 turbo motor so I just sold it. I wasn't even sure if I was going to get another car because of all the accidents and crashes that have been going on lately.. I really don't want my kids around all the wild, crazy crap that goes on in the sand but I guess at least i can some what control most of that by driving safe, slow and away from crowds. Some people out there are straight idiots! Im thinking this year I might wear a full face helmet when going on the fast solo runs depending on the crowds. I don't wear one in my rock buggy but I really need to, a know a couple guys who barely bopped there heads on the cage and it has changed them. One of the bad Sand Rail crashes last season happened to a guy I know well and he split his forehead open from hitting the roll bar, it knocked him out, if he had a helmet he would have been fine. Could have killed him and most are surprised it didn't. All that said I decided to give her another go at it this season, looks like ill be getting into my third car and by far the best built car. If all goes as planned ill be picking up a 5 seat, long travel, LS1 motor, MD4 trans car this week. Ill post pics when/if I get it for sure. I have a trip planned to Flagstaff Cinders Aug 28- Sept 1st, taking the family and meeting some friends. Camping in the Pine Trees sounds great to me. If anyone wants to go we can caravan. Keep you guys posted, I cant wait for dune season and its going to come fast!

  6. Will it take Sandy for a ride? I see some fun new elf pics coming next Dec lol
  7. Sorry Terry I just saw this. We were by bathroom 6 and yes I got stuck lol I think from now on I'm going to stay in the hard stuff. Let me know when your car is fixed and we can do a day trip. My 30ft trailer will fit both rails. If you want to camp one night we can do that too. Just let me know.
  8. Wow that sucks! Let me know if you find a good shop to re build your motor. Glad you made it back safe.
  9. I forgot to ask him today who built the car. For how bad a wreck, The main cage is all together and he is getting new A arms built and new rear section as well. It should be back together in no time and better then before. I do know when he brought the car home he didn't like a few things and they added some .120 wall chromo tubing gussets in a few places to strengthen it up. I'm glad he did that.
  10. There are two sides to locking and unlocking a ECM. We tune diesels all over the country and never lock them so the owner can get into it if needed but have had people steal/copy our tunes and load them into trucks and say it "their" tune. It sucks but will always happen no matter what. We feel if the buyer paid for it, it's theirs so we leave them unlocked. Mike, the guy who works my front office, has been tuning for 18 years, he tunes LS cars, gas trucks and SUVs plus much more we just don't advertise it. Terry if I wasn't moving tomorrow I would roll with you, I would like to check out that shop. Hope they get it figured out quick for ya.
  11. I'm with Shane right now and he is doing good. One eye is purple and shut and the other eye is blood shot red. Nobody cleaned the sand out of his eyes for hours. The patrol didn't strap him in the car and he was flopping all over the place when they were taking him to the ranger station. The driver was hauling a$$ across the whoops cauing Shane to hit his chin and teeth on the patrol sand rail bars. Now after he heals up he has to go see the dentist. He was trying to hang on while in pain and asked the driver to slow down but he didn't.
  12. Sounds like someone almost got a karate chop to the face LOL
  13. Terry sounds like something simple and easy. I have a pretty good scanner if you need one and if your car is chevy based we also have EFI live scanning/tuning capability.
  14. I took my rock crawlers and rig out to do a little advertising. The sand rail held up great and I did several 60-70mph runs through the 2ft whoops.
  15. Way to many people to go duning IMO but was awesome to sit on the hills and watch everyone. Vendor row looked very busy every time I went by. I bought a couple things from GTP and tried the BBQ out there. I even got several bad a$$ T shirts! It was the busiest I have seen it and way more people then Halloween.
  16. Shane (Olmtowing) is at home now and his daughter is ok too. She was also wearing her helmet. Both were belted in and nobody ejected. He's a good friend of mine and I was camping with him and his family this weekend. I talked to Shane's mom today a couple times and she said his car was sliding from a brake malfunction he tried to correct but could not control the car and flipped when it hit a big rut on comp hill. I will see him tomorrow, i wanted him to rest and figured lots of his friends were at the hospital so i just kept in contact with his mom to make sure he was ok. I showed up Sat morning and left Dumont Sat around 6pm because there were too many people and the sand was tore up very bad. If anyone has a video post it up. Im not sure what make the car was but I know redline built the turbo rotary 13b motor. It was a long travel rear engine 2 seater. It had a ton of power and pulled the front tires on the flats.
