JADIN EXPEDITIONS

Robert Jadin's Herpetology Journal

Venomous vs. Poisonous

by

Robert C. Jadin

People often ask what the difference between venomous and poisonous. They ask why I tell them not to call a snake poisonous. Well technically all venoms are a poison however not all poisons are venoms. Too many times people get confused because someone on television says that a snake is poisonous while another says venomous. So to make things simple I will explain it. Any type of animal that injects a toxin into your body is venomous. If you touch or ingest a toxin from a plant or animal and become sick then it is poisonous. Snakes that inject toxins from fangs and the two species of Helodermatid lizards are venomous while plants, amphibians, and fungi (mushrooms) are all poisonous.

Gotta Love Google

Good monkie! Here's your banana. I get soo irritated when these terms are used wrong!! :duniemonkie:

BSA, according to my Yahoo! search:

Birmingham Small Arms (Co. Ltd.). A significant armaments manufacturer, BSA and others in that industry, had the technology to produce internal combustion engines, upon its invention at the turn of the 20th century. BSA became the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer. In the early 1970s, BSA was taken over by the Norton Villiers Triumph Group.

Okay, here is one for everyone:

Yes it is a steam engine

I believe wind and water turbines would be considered motors

So my next question is

What fuel was used in the very first internal combustion engine(I'm sure it was experimental)

saw dust was used for fuel on the first diesel motor. and it ran the company he started happens to be mercedes benz

:dunno:

aside from being all dead...they all died in car accidents....

and yes you were correct on the other 2

as far as the Bowtie idea.

It originated in William C. Durant's imagination when, as a world traveler in 1908, he saw the pattern marching off into infinity as a design on wallpaper in a French hotel.

BUT WAIT THERES MORE....

according to his wife:

A story in Chevrolet Pro Management Magazine, October 1986, which was copied in the May 1987 G&D, told that W.C. Durant did not copy the design from the wallpaper in a French hotel room, and that according to Mrs. Durant, the bowtie emblem was first seen by her husband in an illustrated Virginia newspaper, while they were vacationing in Hot Springs, Virginia around 1912. Mrs. Durant was quoted as recalling, "We were in a suite reading the papers, and he saw this design and said, "I think this would be a very good emblem for the Chevrolet". She did not explain how the newspaper used the emblem.
