We found a spot off LV Blvd and Pebble in S. Vegas. It's not cheap, but it has plenty of room to pull in and park.

I think I replied to one of your posts on where you live. Where in Prescott are you located? My parents live in the Ranch (or is it Lee's Ranch? - I dunno ). Anyway, they have about an acre. It's nice that you have so much land. We thought we would have RV parking on our little lot in Henderson, but our lot has a slope that was too big to retain and put in an RV or a boat! Darn!!!

We have the prodigy digital brake controller. Works great! Normally, we have it set between 2.5 and 3.0. Anything higher and the trailer is breaking the truck. We have a Dodge 2500 Cummins Diesel with upgraded Banks exhaust. Dry weight on our trailer is about 8600 lbs. Loaded, with water, fuel and toys it's probably about 11,000 0 11,500 lbs (although we've never weighed it ourselves).

People at the lake/river can be out of control! A boat doesn't just stop and I hate when people speed in the no wake zones. We used to see this all the time at Lake Mead during our boating days. Unfortunately, there are out of control people everywhere. I don't get how some folks at the dunes can just fly by other people's camps. During New Years weekend we saw a bunch of people just fly by our camp. All it takes is for someone to hit a person or a child. Stupid!!! :freakin_nuts:

We'll be somewhere on the left, close to the entrance to comp. We'll be in the Raptor travel trailer with the blue Coors Light flag and Blue Dodge Ram 2500. I think we'll have a few trailers in a circle. I saw the weather. It's supposed to be 87 - 92 degrees this weekend. Great time to test out the AC!!!! :freakin_nuts:

We'll be there on Thursday night - Sunday. I opted to not go to the NASCAR race and have a nice peaceful weekend in Dumont!!!

I'm sure no one's going to admit to throwing rocks at your car. However, if they happen to browse this site and read your post, hopefully they'll think about doing that again!!! We had a big camp (not in that area) and before the circle was complete, people were riding through all the time. It's hard to see everyone's cones and stuff. At least we didn't put up tape!!!

Looks a little like my dad's garage - he'd be in heaven to find this!!! He's got an 11 car garage just for his old Fords.

That sucks!!! Sorry to hear about your dog. So, this brings me to a point I made earlier... why do people let their dogs run loose at Dumont??? All Pres Day weekend we saw loose dogs all over the place. We were out walking our dog when another dog came running full speed towards us and got into a fight with one of our dogs. Luckily, the owners were really cool and he usually is on a leash - just got loose for a moment. No one got hurt, just startled. However, people think it's okay to let their dogs run around not only their camp, but other people's camps too. And some dog peed on our truck's rims!

That's what my husband was suspecting, but he hasn't seen it confirmed anywhere. He's waiting to see what they have in 2008.

I'm glad to hear your husband is okay - how scary, though. When we were out on New Years, one of the girls in our camp threw a lighter into our fire with a bunch of us standing around it. I didn't see her do it and the small explosion scared the crap out of me. It was VERY STUPID STUPID STUPID!!! She could have at least told us what she was doing BEFORE she did it! Needless to say, she wasn't the most popular person at camp on that trip!

I agree! There are too many people at comp that don't simply watch where they're going. It makes me nervous to watch my husband go up, esp on busy weekends.

Yeah, you learn how to deal with it! My husband learned that the bathroom was off limits for that!!!

Yeah, the traffic going south was just as bad. Tons of accidents and slow downs because of the rain!

Everything held up in the holding tanks - LOL! We had a ton of fresh water left over, which means next time I can take longer showers!!! We were really really careful with the black tank and brought one of those blue things just in case. We're having Cal's give us a quote on installing an extra black tank. Just doesn't make sense for 2 people to be super careful over 4 nights, when the hauler is made to sleep 8.

My husband loves the Rhino, but we're wondering if they're thinking about coming out with fuel injection in the near future. What have you heard? What do you think???

We had a great time on Pres Day weekend! We got to Dumont on Thursday afternoon. Had to find a spot to accomodate 14 trailers. Got settled, got the new flag up and didn't even ride that night - just drank beers! My husband's birthday was Friday. He didn't even know that I baked him a cake at home and hid it in the trailer's oven that we'll probably never use! The dogs HATED the fireworks the first couple nights, but finally got used to it. Good news is that everyone was safe and nothing went wrong with the new trailer (this was our first trip to Dumont with it). We were bummed that some of our friends and family that were supposed to go couldn't make it. We got to hang out with some new people, though and that was cool! We didn't head home until Monday afternoon and then got caught up in the traffic on the 15 fwy north at Nipton Rd. Someone's truck and trailer overturned in the left lane. Traffic was backed up for 5 miles. Took us an extra hour and a half to get home. Some observations: Why do people let their dogs run loose? Isn't there a leash law? Some dog (I think from the camp behind us) peed on our truck's rims. Why do people not pick up their dog's poop? That's gross!!! Can't people wait their turn at comp? There is no reason to pass people on the hill and nearly miss hitting them. What's with seeing people with no helmets and riding doubles? Why must people ride full speed through other people's camps? I was glad when our circle was complete!!! Here are some pics:

I heard about the crash, but we weren't at comp on Saturday night! As usual, we were partying at camp! Funny how the Rhino won!!!

He was probably in better hands with your friend's dad and the other men. I still can't believe it took them so long to get to the scene. I think this was the accident we came upon on Saturday. The helicopter was already on the scene, if it was the same accident. My husband knows CPR and even has his mouth to mouth device on his quad key ring.

Yeah, I saw someone riding doubles, too! I thought... where are we at Armagosa or the Nellis dunes, where that's prevalent!!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin. What a terrible experience for your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. You're right about being careful! Sometimes people give me a hard time (not my hubby) about being over cautious at the dunes... but you never know!!! Take care!!!

I saw choppers all weekend. We saw one (I think it was Saturday) in front of the big dunes on the left. Not sure what happened. Someone in our group said at one point this weekend, they saw the medics pumping someone's chest at the sherriff's station. I saw a lot of idiots, though!!! Too many people driving up comp and other dunes and almost hitting other people.

That's hilarious!! The 1st thing I looked for was helmets, since I saw a few people (not rangers) riding without helmets. I thought - WTF - my husband gets a helmet ticket on New Years weekend riding a 50 INSIDE our camp at 3 mph and gets a ticket. I see about a half dozen riders without helmets this weekend - one right next to the drags and vendor row. I was thinking, "where's the rangers????" I lost 2 flags this weekend and went right back to camp to get another flag. Whatever!!! That's soooo funny though!!! You should send that pic to the BLM office!!!
