What I meant was, is it torn up or is it graded?? I was out there the weekend before Holloween and it was tore up after the river crossing from the rains out there. Have they fixed that or am I going to be womping my motorhome again?

I was just wondering how the dirt road inoto Dumont is. How was it Holloween weekend, how is it this weekend?? I'm heading out there on Thursday the 16th and just looking for a heads-up on it. Thanks............

If nothing else works, you dish should come with a way to select cities to find the coordinates for the dish. I always select Death Valley and it always works for me...........

I was out there that very same weekend sanduners and as far as I was concerned, you could not have asked for a better weekend. Weather, dunes, or anything...........it was awesome Your pictures are sweet and glad you had a good time as well........

I'm going to be out there Nov. 16th - 19th and I will be on the lookout for any trash I see just laying around and will gladly pick it up. As a matter of fact, last time at Dumont I must have picked up about 6 or 7 seven beer cans at comp, crushed them up and put them into my cooler on my rail to take back to camp, and a few people looked at me like I was a wierdo :yeah_whatever: But I didn't care and did it anyway. I was wondering, and I know it is WAY early, but would anyone have any idea as to what the date is for the next Dumont Cleanup?? I am definitely making that this year!!!!

Just a little note to say that I will be at Dumont Nov. 16th - 19th If anyone else is there, maybe we can at least meet and put a name to a face, or even go on a dune ride, or have a hot tottie... Anyway, that's all I have to say about that.

All of these idiots that this thread is about is the exact reason why I do not do holiday weekends anymore... I choose other weekends during the month to go out and I'll admit it.........I'm selfish and love the dunes to myself.... B) Holiday weekends are great, if you like it for the show factor. But personally, I'm over that. It is a big bummer to hear of all these stories when you guys get back of how this A-hole did this, or that A-hole did that, and as far as foolsofsand having to move his camp, now that royally sucks!!! Even when I did do holiday weekends, I camped as far away from the dunes as possible, usually against the cliff. It's not going to get any better, and for those who do enjoy the holiday weekends out there, more power to ya.... I'll stick with my off-weekends........thank you.........

It is very sad to hear of stuff like this, my thoughts go out to the families................. My only question is, does anyone know if these guys had belts on or not??

Hey atic04........they will welcome you with no problem. As you drive on the main road, get past the pay station. That road will take you up a slope and onto the flats. Keep driving and you will see a dune come down in front of you. At that point you will be at the vendors (you can't miss them). Once you get to the vendors, look to your right, you will see the DDR camp along that finger dune. The big gay ballon may be up which will make it easier to find them, if not, just look for a DDR banner on the side of a toyhauler and a bunch of trucks with the DDR sticker on them. You do that, and you've found them!!... Them just introduce yourself and ride baby, ride........... :shoot:

Well here are some pics from the past weekend for everyone.........just thought I would share............. We found Lake Dumont in the northern end of the dunes (it must have rained hard out there)... This was the camping area on Saturday afternoon, not that many peeps which for me was way friggen cool... A little racing in the Super Bowl on Saturday afternoon just for fun... With all that racing, my pit crew goes to work....(my 20 month old daughter)... We did have a blast, and can't wait to go again........... :mc_smiley: :mc_smiley:

Good decision on your part!!! We all have dealt with the crossing this far, another 6 months isn't going to make that big of deal. Plus, I would rather wait and have it done right the first time.........thanks for doing this project, it will benifit us all in the end.

I don't mean to steal Barneycar's thread but I figured I would chime in. First, sorry to hear about your problems with the car, my buddy broke his tranny Friday afternoon. He decided he wanted to jump at the bottom of comp. Well his third jump did it and SNAP it went. But other than that the weekend was utterly AWESOME The weather was unreal and the dunes were just GRAND can't wait to go out again!!!! I did see a truck with a DDR sticker on the back but I lost sight of it and couldn't find it later so I could go say The road in was beat up in spots, but very passable. The part of the road after the river crossing was the worst, it got really beat up by the rain last week, but that is still not too bad. The guy at the collecting station told me that someone would be out there Monday (today) to fix the road. To all those going out this weekend, have fun and be safe ............... :mc_smiley:

So is the road into Dumont that messed up??? I'm heading out Thursday and just wondering what I'm in for?? Weather report calls for upper 80's to low 90's during the day and mid-fifties at night with less than 10 mph winds all weekend long...........Can't Wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...........

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! October is here ladies and gentlemen........... I'll be heading out Oct. 19th - 22nd and can't wait.........only 2.5 weeks away and this is what I'll be doing.... :assrock: :shocked2: :fart: :smoker:

I would think if the drags were on the south side of the dunes were ISBB has the blue circle would be best. Not only is it a big enough area to hang and watch the drags, but far enough away so where you aren't intruding on camps or what-not. Also, you could dune from the drags to comp and so forth..... Good idea ISBB!!!!!!!!!!!............. Also, 4x4 trucks could make it back there if they came from comp and around the back side of the dunes.

Camping in my motorhome...........anywhere with my wife and my 1 and a half year old baby girl. :redhat: Relaxing by the fire with a drink on a cool, non-windy night at Dumont. B)
