  1. Quick story, the 2nd time I ever went to Dumont I got stuck just after the last finger dune in my little Nissan truck towing my buggy. The wind was blowing like a son-of-a-gun out there. It was so bad that you could NOT get out of your vehicle without have goggles on. Anyway, as I was digging out my rear tires, Ikept saying to myself, "I'm never coming to this place again!!!!!!" Well that was 7 years ago and I love the place. We got my truck out and had an awesome weekend when the wind calmed down.

    RC Cars

I've raced RCars for years!! They are a lot of fun. I tried the gas trucks, but the engines in those things can be so tempermental, it drove me CRAZY!!!!..... So I got back into electric and I currently have an Associated T4 truck that I race off-road, and I also have an Associated L3 oval car that I race paved oval with......... Just something I have a good time with on select days with. If I make a trip to Vegas to run my oval car, I'll have to look some of you peeps up and have a few drinks with....... Couldn't find a pic of my truck, but it has the same paint job, this obviously is my oval car...................
  3. I've been into Nascar racing for 30 years of my 36 year life. As a matter of fact, I worked on a number of race cars for 14 years '87 - '01 and had a blast. If I go to a track anymore, I go to my local short track and support that. It's a lot more fun to watch in person and a heck of a lot less expensive!!!!!! I've been to California Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Phoenix International Raceway, and a few other big tracks, but that was on someone else's dime. It is too expensive to go anymore and I especially would NOT pay in excess of $1,000 for a weekend of camping no matter where it is and that's just to get in the friggen door............ Speaking from experience having been there, done that. Go to a big race once, if you like it, go back, but just stay home on the couch with a beer and watch it on TV. But I would suggest if you hav never been to a Nascar race, go to your local short track on a Saturday night and check it out, it can be a lot of fun!!!!!!!.................
  4. My first trip to our beloved Dumont is Oct. 19th - 22nd......... ....................Can't wait!!!!!!!................. :fro:
  5. My suggestion to you, and how I will be with my daughter when she drives is the way my dad was with me. When I first started to drive was back in '86, it was my "mini-truck" craze. I had one and all my buddies had them also. When I first got my license, my father told me that if I got a moving violation ticket, I walked for 30 days, and he meant absolutely no BS about it. If I got a mechanical violation ticket, I fixed it and got it written off. Well my first ticket about a month after I got my license was for speeding, 70 mph in a 45 mph zone. I knew I was in real deep shiat........ Let me tell you, the worst feeling for a 16 year old was not being able to drive like his buddies. My father also told me not to lie about it because he would run my license # and if he found a ticket that he didn't know about, "God save your arse" he said. Boy that worked!!!! I did get a couple of more speeding tickets after that, and it was the same thing..........................I WALKED for 30 days!!! It taught me alot believe it or not, about responsibility. Then when I turned 18, my father took that restriction off me and said, "you're an adult now, you take care of it." So I got a job, and started paying for my own insurance and for any tickets that I got that I couldn't go to traffic school for. Times are different now I know, but I think that if you put some sort of restrictions on him, but at the same time giving him his own space to make mistakes, he will learn. Good luck with that!!!... Just my $.02 cents worth, hope it helps................
  6. Sounds like you had a complete BLAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My only suggestion to you about driving at Dumont, Learn how to go over the razor-backs slow at first!! I say this with experience. My first razor........I flipped it Now I assume that your new car is a high travel car, if you have never gone over a razor-back in a big car, go SLOW at first. My friend in his new car, rolled it over not 10 minutes off the trailer. He went over and the right front tire dug in, and over he went....... That is my two cents, so take it for what it's worth to ya. But have fun and congratulations on the new car!!!!!
  7. You guys are killing me I am mid-way through boat sesaon and I think I want dune season here more than I want boat season to continue October 19th can't get here soon enough for me now, so I think you people need to pipe down or I'm gonna go nutty............. :mc_smiley: But I also can't wait for the camping, hangin, talking smack, drinking, and the dunes.... :fro:
  8. Thanks cmyfirepole, I must have had a brain fart when I wrote this especially since I have known the owner of Prowlers for literally forever and a day...................hahahahahahahahahaha
  9. Vicki, Re-stating what was said in an earlier post. Just let us know what we have to do as far as calls, emails, etc. Much of these people are up for re-election in Nov. they would be scared to be voted out of office which is why we need to voice our opinions on any topic you feel strongly about. Illegal immigration, same sex marriage, and yes even Dumont. So just let us know the info and thanks for fighting for Dumont.............................you ROCK!!!!! :redhat: :fro:
  10. Yeah, it is entirely tooooooo friggen hot out there for me......... :headbang: It's boat season now................. Our first trip back to our beloved Dumont will be Oct. 19th - 22nd and I can't wait................. Anyways, my tranny is out getting fixed right now, then I put her back in, put the engine back in and clean the heck out of it for next season......come October it's time to ride............... :headbang:
  11. well?...................... I did........... :headbang:  :headbang:
  12. Nice video there buddy............... :argue:
  13. That is just NOT RIGHT..............but funny!!!...............
  14. Ok everybody, how did the weekend go? How was the weather and the crowds? How were the dunes, etc., etc., etc.,..................inquiring minds want to know.................... :fro: :headbang: :redhat: Oh BTW.............HAPPY EASTER!!!!!!!!!!!.............
  15. SWEET......... You rock crazy!!! Bummed I can't be there this weekend or I would help you out. I'm sending in my application tomorrow with my money........ We need to nip this thing in the butt. There are PLENTY of lizards out there to survive and NOT become extinct.
  16. found a link to where you can join FoDD at http://friendsofdumontdunes.org/divpics/Fo...bership_App.pdf Hope this works...............
  17. I will join in on this fight also!!!!!!!!!!............. Dumont is entirely too small to be closing any of it like they did at Glamis. We need to get the word out there as fast as possible to everyone. For those that are going this weekend to Dumont for Easter, please tell as many people as you can out there about what's happening. Word of mouth, flyers, message planes over head, anything to alert fellow duners about this issue. We need to unite and fight for Dumont Dunes, a place that we all love.............
  18. Don, It is the acts of a few that effect the rules of the majority. ...............
  19. wow, I must be a freak compared to some of you guys. I have a complete routine that I perform on my rail in between each and every trip. I blame it on the routine on the race cars I used to work on. Here's my deal............between every trip I change the oil, change plugs, bleed the brakes, bleed the clutch, nut and bolt the whole car, clean the whole car, and wax it also. I have a VW 2275 engine with 9:1 compression, no turbo or NOS. I run Kendall 30 weight oil. Also, at the start of every season, I change the tranny oil also. It may sound like a lot, but I'm so used to it by now, that I like to reffer to it as preventitive maintenance. I must say (knock on wood) that my cars have 9 times out of 10 driven back onto the trailer the same way they've come off. But anyway, just thought I'd chime in also................
  20. I think it was skill. It's obvious that guy has been doing it for a long time with the way he was controlling the gas. The old saying says......When in doubt, GAS IT!!
  21. I have to agree with DeToxic on this one fellas. Personally I have no problem at all with people taping off a part of a finger dune for the kids to ride on. I for one never race along the finger dunes on big weekends. The way I look at it is the finger dunes are part of the camping area on big weekends and caution should be taken whenever you are in the camping area. There are plenty of finger dunes or small dunes behind comp, or back towards the north pole. It would be just as easy for anyone to go back there and race along the finger or small dunes back there to have a part of the riding experience. If I need to go over a finger dune to get to camp, I find a spot where it is open during the day and go over in that particular spot and the same at night. Heck, I ran thru some guys caution tape one night on accident, then the very next morning I went to his camp and gave him a new roll of caution tape as to say "Hey bud, my bad". I mean let's face it, 7 - 10 year olds are still too young to go out in the big dunes by themselves, but at the same time are to bored with just going around in circles around camp on flat ground. So give them a little hill to ride on. Everybody just need to look out for eachother and be respectful.................. :monkeedance2: But then again, I've chosen to not go out on big weekends anymore, so I guess I don't have to worry about this, but I just thought I'd throw my $.02 in the mix...............Y'all have a great day!!!!.............
  22. My first engine in my rail blew (what I call) a big breather hole in the top of the block. One of the rods let go and punched a whole in the top of the block (VW engine). Then the second engine, my wife burned up rod bearings by doing speed runs on the flats in 2nd gear. She has never driven a stick before and I told to to stay in second gear. She could play on the finger dune all she wants doing that. But I forgot my wife is a lead foot and decided to do speed runs down the flats............ :no_no: Anyway, she was a real great girl and did 3 shifts of overtime at work to pay for it........... That's one of many reasons why I love her so much................... :shocked2: :shocked2:
  23. Dunefreak..............Yeah, we had blast!! The face of the dunes were beat up, but when you got into the dunes, they weren't that bad at all. We did a whole lot of dune rides, partied a little bit... :headbang: and just had a very nice peaceful weekend. But to the people who destoryed that DDR box... Next trip for me is Glamis on the 23rd - 26th of March..... I may try to make a day run out of the cleanup at Dumont, but I'll have to see what happens here on the homefront.
  24. It's a steel tube that looks to be at least 1/8th inch thick. So blowing holes in it would be very hard to do, plus it's welded on the pole. So somebody will have to try extremely hard to detroy this one.
  25. This is Friday looking down on the flats.....by Saturday there was few more, but not much.... The DDR box that got shot up..... The new "steel" North Pole mailbox..... The man who made it all happen this weekend holding the tig welder........
